هُوشَع 13

١ 1 عِنْدَمَا تَكَلَّمَ أَفْرَايِمُ اعْتَرَى الرُّعْبُ الأُمَمَ، وَعَظُمَ شَأْنُهُ فِي إِسْرَائِيلَ، وَلَكِنْ حِينَ عَبَدَ الْبَعْلَ وَأَثِمَ مَاتَ.

For Effraym spak, hidousnesse assailide Israel; and he trespasside in Baal, and was deed.

٢ 2 وَهَا هُمْ يُكَثِّرُونَ الآنَ مَعَاصِيَهُمْ، وَيَصُوغُونَ بِبَرَاعَةٍ لأَنْفُسِهِمْ تَمَاثِيلَ وَأَصْنَاماً مِنْ فِضَّتِهِمْ، كُلُّهَا صَنْعَةُ عُمَّالٍ حَاذِقِينَ قَائِلِينَ: «قَبِّلُوا تَمَاثِيلَ الْعُجُولِ هَذِهِ يَا مُقَرِّبِي الذَّبَائِحِ الْبَشَرِيَّةِ».

And now thei addiden to do synne, and maden to hem a yotun ymage of her siluer, as the licnesse of idols; al is the makyng of crafti men. To these thei seien, A! ye men, offre, and worschipe caluys.

٣ 3 لِهَذَا يَتَلاشَوْنَ كَضَبَابِ الصَّبَاحِ وَكَالنَّدَى الَّذِي يَتَبَخَّرُ سَرِيعاً، أَوْ كَعُصَافَةٍ مُذَرَّاةٍ مِنَ الْبَيْدَرِ، أَوْ دُخَانٍ مُتَسَرِّبٍ مِنَ الْكُوَّةِ.

Therfor thei schulen be as a morewtid cloude, and as the deew of morewtid, that passith forth, as dust rauyschide bi whirlewynd fro the corn floor, and as smoke of a chymenei.

٤ 4 أَنَا هُوَ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكَ مُنْذُ أَنْ كُنْتَ فِي دِيَارِ مِصْرَ، وَلَسْتَ تَعْرِفُ إِلَهاً غَيْرِي، وَلا مُنْقِذَ لَكَ سِوَايَ.

Forsothe Y am thi Lord God, `that ledde thee fro the loond of Egipt; and thou schalt not knowe God, outakun me, and no sauyour is, outakun me.

٥ 5 أَنَا الَّذِي اعْتَنَيْتُ بِكَ فِي الصَّحْرَاءِ الْجَرْدَاءِ، فِي أَرْضِ الظَّمَإِ

Y knewe thee in the desert, in the lond of wildirnesse.

٦ 6 وَلَكِنْ عِنْدَمَا رَعَوْا وَشَبِعُوا خَامَرَتْ قُلُوبَهُمُ الْكِبْرِيَاءُ، لِذَلِكَ نَسُونِي.

Bi her lesewis thei weren fillid, and hadden abundaunce; thei reisiden her herte, and foryaten me.

٧ 7 لِهَذَا أَكُونُ لَهُمْ كَأَسَدٍ، وَأَكْمُنُ كَنَمِرٍ لَهُمْ عَلَى الطَّرِيقِ.

And Y schal be as a lionesse to hem, as a parde in the weye of Assiriens.

٨ 8 وَأَنْقَضُّ عَلَيْهِمْ كَدُبَّةٍ ثَاكِلٍ، وَأُمَزِّقُ قُلُوبَهُمْ أَشْلاءَ وَأَفْتَرِسُهُمْ هُنَاكَ كَلَبُوءَةٍ، وَوَحْشِ الْبَرِّ يُقَطِّعُهُمْ إِرْباً إِرْباً.

Y as a femal bere, whanne the whelps ben rauyschid, schal mete hem; and schal al to-breke the ynnere thingis of the mawe of hem. And Y as a lioun schal waaste hem there; a beeste of the feeld schal al to-rende hem.

٩ 9 هَلاكُكَ مِنْكَ يَا إِسْرَائِيلُ لأَنَّكَ عَادَيْتَنِي. عَادَيْتَ مُعِينَكَ.

Israel, thi perdicioun is of thee; thin help is oneli of me.

١٠ 10 أَيْنَ هُوَ مَلِكُكَ لِيُنْقِذَكَ؟ أَيْنَ هُمْ حُكَّامُكَ الْمُنْتَشِرُونَ فِي جَمِيعِ مُدُنِكَ الَّذِينَ قُلْتَ عَنْهُمْ: أَعْطِنِي مَلِكاً وَرُؤَسَاءَ؟

Where is thi kyng? moost saue he thee now in alle thi citees; and where ben thi iugis, of whiche thou seidist, Yyue thou to me a kyng, and princes?

١١ 11 قَدْ أَعْطَيْتُكَ مَلِكاً فِي إِبَّانِ غَضَبِي وَأَخَذْتُهُ فِي شِدَّةِ غَيْظِي.

Y schal yyue to thee a kyng in my strong veniaunce, and Y schal take awei in myn indignacioun.

١٢ 12 إِثْمُ أَفْرَايِمَ مَحْفُوظٌ فِي صُرَّةٍ، وَخَطِيئَتُهُ مُدَّخَرَةٌ

The wickidnesse of Effraym is boundun togidere; his synne is hid.

١٣ 13 آلامُ مَخَاضِ امْرَأَةٍ مُشْرِفَةٍ عَلَى الْوِلادَةِ حَلَّتْ بِهِ، وَلَكِنَّهُ ابْنٌ جَاهِلٌ يَأْبَى أَنْ يَقْتَرِبَ مِنْ فُوَّهَةِ الرَّحِمِ عِنْدَ أَوَانِ وِلادَتِهِ.

The sorewis of a womman trauelynge of child schulen come to hym; he is a sone not wijs. For now he schal not stonde in the defoulyng of sones.

١٤ 14 هَلْ أَفْتَدِيهِمْ مِنْ قُوَّةِ الْهَاوِيَةِ؟ هَلْ أُنَجِّيهِمْ مِنَ الْمَوْتِ؟ أَيْنَ أَوْبِئَتُكَ يَا مَوْتُ؟ أَيْنَ هَلاكُكِ يَا هَاوِيَةُ؟ قَدِ احْتَجَبَتِ الرَّحْمَةُ عَنْ عَيْنَيَّ. (Sheol h7585)

Y schal delyuere hem fro the hoond of deeth, and Y schal ayenbie hem fro deth. Thou deth, Y schal be thi deth; thou helle, Y schal be thi mussel. (Sheol h7585)

١٥ 15 وَحَتَّى وَلَوِ ازْدَهَرَ كَالْعُشْبِ بَيْنَ إِخْوَتِهِ تَهُبُّ رِيحٌ شَرْقِيَّةٌ، رِيحُ الرَّبِّ الْمُقْبِلَةُ مِنَ الصَّحْرَاءِ فَتُجَفِّفُ يَنْبُوعَهُ وَتُنْضِبُ عَيْنَهُ وَتَنْهَبُ مَخَابِئَ كَنْزِهِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ نَفِيسٍ.

Coumfort is hid fro myn iyen, for he schal departe bitwixe britheren. The Lord schal brynge a brennynge wynd, stiynge fro desert; and it schal make drie the veynes therof, and it schal make desolat the welle therof; and he schal rauysche the tresour of ech desirable vessel.

١٦ 16 لابُدَّ أَنْ تَتَحَمَّلَ السَّامِرَةُ وِزْرَ خَطِيئَتِهَا لأَنَّهَا تَمَرَّدَتْ عَلَى إِلَهِهَا، فَيَفْنَى أَهْلُهَا بِحَدِّ السَّيْفِ، وَيَتَمَزَّقُ أَطْفَالُهَا أَشْلاءَ، وَتُشَقُّ بُطُونُ حَوَامِلِهَا.

Samarie perische, for it stiride his God to bittirnesse; perische it bi swerd. The litle children of hem be hurtlid doun, and the wymmen with child therof be koruun.
