< Mathai 19 >

1 Jesu mah hae loknawk thuih pacoengah, Kalili prae hoiah tacawt moe, Judea prae Jordan vapui zaeh ah a caeh;
It happened when Jesus had finished these words, he departed from Galilee, and came into the borders of Judea beyond the Jordan.
2 paroeai kaminawk anih hnukah bang o; anih mah to ahmuen ah nihcae to ngantuisak.
Large crowds followed him, and he healed them there.
3 Thoemto Farasinawk loe Anih tanoek hanah, anih khaeah angzoh o, kawbaktih hmuen pongah doeh kami maeto mah a zu to pakhrak thaihaih daan oh maw? tiah a naa o.
And Pharisees came to him, testing him, and saying to him, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce a wife for any reason?"
4 Anih mah nihcae khaeah, Tangsuek hoi sahkung mah loe nongpa hoi nongpata to a sak, tiah pathim pae,
He answered, and said, "Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female,

and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother, and be joined to his wife; and the two will become one flesh?'
6 To pongah nihnik loe hnetto na ai boeh ni, takpum maeto ah ni oh hoi boeh. To pongah Sithaw mah nawnto patomh boeh loe, mi mah doeh tapraek hmah nasoe, tiah a naa.
So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no one separate."
7 Nihcae mah anih khaeah, to tiah nahaeloe tipongah Mosi mah loe, Zu pakhrakhaih ca to paek ah loe, zu to pakhrah ah, tiah thuih loe? tiah a naa o.
They asked him, "Why then did Moses command us to give her a certificate of divorce, and divorce her?"
8 Jesu mah nihcae khaeah, Palung na thah o hmoek pongah ni zu pakhrak hanah ang thuih o: toe tangsuek naah loe to tiah om ai, tiah a naa.
He said to them, "Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it has not been so.
9 Kang thuih o, mi kawbaktih doeh zu sava laep ah daan ai ah nongpa nongpata zae sakhaih khue ai ah, zu pakhrah moe, kalah nongpata to zu ah la kami loe, daan ai ah minawk ih zu sava hoi zaehaih sah kami ah ni a oh, tiah a naa.
I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery. And he who marries her when she is divorced commits adultery."
10 A hnukbang kaminawk mah, Zulakhaih kawng pongah hae tiah kami to om nahaeloe, zu lak han hoih ai bae to, tiah a naa o.
The disciples said to him, "If this is the case of a husband with a wife, it is not expedient to marry."
11 Toe anih mah nihcae khaeah, Paek ih kaminawk khae khue mah ai ah loe, kami boih mah hae thuih ih lok hae talawk o thai mak ai.
But he said to them, "Not everyone can receive this saying, but those to whom it is given.
12 Thoemto kaminawk loe amno zokthung hoiah tangzat dueh kami ah tapen: thoemto kaminawk loe kaminawk mah loe tangzat to duek o sak: thoemto kaminawk loe van prae taham ah angmacae hoi angmacae tangzat dueh kami ah oh o. Talawk thaih kami mah hae lok hae talawk nasoe.
For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother's womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men; and there are eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He who is able to receive it, let him receive it."
13 Anih mah nawktanawk nuiah ban koeng moe, lawkthuih pae hanah nawktanawk anih khaeah angzoh o haih, toe a hnukbang kaminawk mah nihcae to zoeh pae o.
Then little children were brought to him, that he should lay his hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them.

But Jesus said, "Allow the little children, and do not forbid them to come to me; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to ones like these."
15 Nihcae nuiah a ban koeng pae pacoengah, to ahmuen hoiah tacawt taak.
He placed his hands on them, and departed from there.
16 Khenah, kami maeto anih khaeah angzoh moe, Kahoih patukkung, dungzan hinghaih ka hnuk thai hanah, kahoih hmuen timaw ka sak han? tiah a dueng. (aiōnios g166)
And look, someone came to him and said, "Teacher, what good thing must I do, that I may have everlasting life?" (aiōnios g166)
17 Anih mah, tipongah Kahoih, tiah nang kawk loe? Sithaw, maeto khue ai ah loe, kahoih maeto doeh om ai: hinghaih thungah akun han na koeh nahaeloe, kaaloknawk to pazui ah, tiah a naa.
He said to him, "Why do you ask me about what is good? No one is good but one. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments."
18 To naah to kami mah, Kawbaktih kaalok maw? tiah a naa. Jesu mah, Kami hum hmah, zu sava laep ah nongpa nongpata zaehaih sah hmah, paqu hmah, hnukung amsawn ah om hmah,
He said to him, "Which ones?" And Jesus said, "'Do not murder.' 'Do not commit adultery.' 'Do not steal.' 'Do not offer false testimony.'
19 nam no hoi nam pa to saiqat ah, na imtaeng kaminawk to nangmah baktih toengah palung ah, tiah thuih ih kaalok to, tiah a naa.
'Honor your father and mother.' And, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"
20 To naah thendoeng mah anih khaeah, Hae kaaloknawk loe nawkta nathuem hoiah ka pazui boih boeh: ka sak han ih timaw angai vop? tiah a naa.
The young man said to him, "All these things I have kept. What do I still lack?"
21 Jesu mah anih khaeah, Kakoep ah oh han na koeh nahaeloe, caeh ah loe, na tawnh ih hmuennawk to zawh boih pacoengah, amtang kaminawk hanah paek ah, siangpahrang mah uk ih van prae ah hmuenmae to na tawn tih: to pacoengah ka hnukah bangah, tiah a naa.
Jesus said to him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me."
22 To lok to thendoeng mah thaih naah, anih loe hmuenmae hoiah angraeng parai kami ah oh pongah, palungset moe, a caeh ving.
But when the young man heard the saying, he went away sad, for he was one who had great possessions.
23 Jesu mah a hnukbang kaminawk khaeah, Loktang kang thuih o, Long angraeng loe siangpahrang mah uk ih van prae thungah akun han rai parai;
Jesus said to his disciples, "Truly I say to you, it is difficult for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven.
24 kang thuih o let, Long angraeng Sithaw mah ukhaih prae thungah akun pongah loe, kaengkuu hrang phungvang khaw thungah akun han zoi kue, tiah a naa.
Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich person to enter into the Kingdom of God."
25 To lok to a hnukbang kaminawk mah thaih o naah, nihcae mah dawnrai o parai, to tiah nahaeloe mi maw pahlong ah om thai tih? tiah a thuih o.
When the disciples heard it, they were exceedingly astonished, saying, "Who then can be saved?"
26 Toe Jesu mah nihcae khaeah angqoi moe, Kami han loe hae hmuen hae angcoeng thai ai; toe Sithaw hoiah loe hmuen boih angcoeng thaih, tiah a naa.
Looking at them, Jesus said, "With humans this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
27 To pacoengah Piter mah anih khaeah, Khenah, kaicae loe hmuennawk boih ka caeh o taak moe, na hnukah ka bang o: kaicae loe timaw ka hnu o tih? tiah pathim pae.
Then Peter answered, "Look, we have left everything, and followed you. What then will we have?"

Jesus said to them, "Truly I tell you that you who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on the throne of his glory, you also will sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
29 Mi kawbaktih doeh ka hmin pongah imnawk maw, to tih ai boeh loe nawkamyanawk maw, to tih ai boeh loe ampa maw, to tih ai boeh loe amno maw, to tih ai boeh loe a zu maw, to tih ai boeh loe a caanawk hoi a lawknawk maw caehtaak kami loe, atho alet cumvaito hnu ueloe, dungzan hinghaih qawk to toep tih. (aiōnios g166)
Everyone who has left houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, will receive one hundred times, and will inherit everlasting life. (aiōnios g166)
30 Toe pop parai hmahman kaminawk hnukkhuem o ueloe, hnukkhuem kaminawk to hmahman o tih, tiah a naa.
But many will be last who are first; and first who are last.
