< Jeremiah 32 >

1 Judah manghai Zedekiah kah a kum, kum rha dongah BOEIPA taeng lamkah ol te Jeremiah taengla ha pawk. Te vaengah Nebukhanezar kah a kum tah kum hlai rhet lo coeng.
This is the Lord's message that came to Jeremiah in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah's reign, which was the eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar's reign.
2 Te vaengah Babylon manghai tatthai rhoek loh Jerusalem te a dum uh coeng. Tonghma Jeremiah khaw Judah manghai im kah vongup thongim ah a khoh tih om coeng.
This was when the army of the king of Babylon was besieging Jerusalem. Jeremiah the prophet was imprisoned in the guard's courtyard, part of the king of Judah's palace.
3 Judah manghai Zedekiah loh, “'BOEIPA loh he khopuei he Babylon manghai kut ah ka paek coeng tih a tuuk pawn ni.
Zedekiah king of Judah had put him in prison, telling him: “Why do you have to prophesy like this? You say the Lord is saying, ‘Look, I'm going to hand over this city to the king of Babylon, and he will capture it.
4 Tedae Judah manghai Zedekiah he Khalden kut lamloh poenghal mahpawh. Babylon manghai kut ah a paek rhoe a paek rhoe ni. Te vaengah a ka neh a ka voek uh rhoi vetih a mik rhoi khaw a mik, mik ah so uh rhoi bitni.
Zedekiah king of Judah won't escape from the Babylonians. He will be captured and taken to the king of Babylon to speak with him personally and see him face to face.
5 Zedekiah te Babylon loh a khuen vetih kai n'hip hlan duela pahoi om ni. He tah BOEIPA kah olphong ni. Khalden te na vathoh thil akhaw na thaihtak mahpawh,’ a ti,” tila thui ham nim na tonghma?” a ti nah tih a khoh.
He will take Zedekiah to Babylon, where he'll remain until I deal with him, declares the Lord. You won't be successful if you fight against the Babylonians.’”
6 Te vaengah Jeremiah loh, “BOEIPA ol kai taengla ha pawk tih,
Jeremiah answered, “The Lord gave me a message, saying:
7 “Na panoe Shallum capa Hanamel te na taengla ha pawk coeng te. Anathoth kah kai khohmuen te namah ham lai laeh. Lai ham tlannah khaw namah kah hamsum ni, ' a ti ni,” a ti.
Your cousin Hanamel, son of Shallum, is coming to tell you, ‘Why don't you buy my field in Anathoth because you have the right to redeem it and buy it?’
8 BOEIPA ol bangla ka panoe capa Hanamel te kai taengah thongim vongup la ha pawk. Te phoeiah kamah te, “Benjamin khohmuen, Anathoth kah kai khohmuen te lai laeh. Rho kah hamsum khaw namah coeng tih tlannah khaw namah kah ni, namah ham lai laeh. Te dongah he tah BOEIPA ol ni tila ka ming,” a ti.
Just as the Lord had said, my cousin Hanamel arrived to see me in the guard's courtyard and asked me, ‘Please buy my field in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin because you have the right of family ownership to redeem it. You should buy it for yourself.’” This convinced me that this was a message from the Lord.
9 Te dongah ka panoe capa Hanamel taeng lamkah khohmuen Anathoth kah te ka lai pah. Anih ham tangka la ngun te shekel hlai rhih ka thuek pah.
So I bought the field in Anathoth from my cousin Hanamel. I weighed out seventeen shekels of silver to pay him.
I signed the deed and sealed it, had it witnessed, and weighed out the silver using the scales.
11 Olpaek neh oltlueh a daeng thil tih a rha, lainah cabu te ka loh.
Then I took the deed of sale, both the sealed original containing the terms and conditions, and the unsealed copy,
12 Te phoeiah lainah cabu te ka panoe capa Hanamel mikhmuh neh lainah cabu dongah aka daek laipai kah mikhmuh neh, thongim vongup kah aka ngol Judah pum kah mikhmuh ah Maaseiah koca Neriah capa Barukh taengah ka paek.
and handed them to Baruch son of Neriah, son of Mahseiah. I did this in the presence of my cousin Hanamel, the witnesses who had signed the deed of sale, and all the people of Judah who were sitting there in the guard's courtyard.
13 Barukh te amih mikhmuh ah ka uen tih,
I gave Baruch these instructions in front of them,
14 “He tah Israel Pathen caempuei BOEIPA long ni a thui. He cabu he lainah cabu la khuen laeh. Kutnoek a daeng neh a rha cabu te khaw lai am khuiah khueh. Te daengah ni kum a sen a kuei eh.
“This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Put these deeds of sale, the sealed original and the open copy, in a clay jar so they can be kept safe for a long time.
15 He tah Israel Pathen caempuei BOEIPA long ni a thui. He diklai kah im khaw, khohmuen khaw, misur khaw koep a lai uh ni,” ka ti nah.
For this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: The time will come when once again houses, fields, and vineyards will be bought in this country.”
16 Te phoeiah BOEIPA taengla ka thangthui tih lainah cabu te Neriah capa Barukh taengah ka paek.
After I had given the deed of sale to Baruch son of Neriah, I prayed to the Lord:
17 Te vaengah, “Ya-oe ka Boeipa Yahovah, namah loh vaan neh diklai he na saii ne. Na thadueng tanglue neh na ban na lam tih namah ham tah ol boeih he khobaerhambae voel moenih.
“Ah, Lord God! You created the heavens and the earth by your great strength and power. Nothing is too hard for you!
18 A thawng thawng taengah sitlohnah na saii dae pa rhoek kathaesainah te amih hnukah a ca rhoek rhang dongah khaw a thuung. Tanglue neh hlangrhalh Pathen tah a ming caempuei Yahweh ni.
You give your trustworthy love to thousands, but you punish the sins of the fathers the consequences affect their children too., Great and powerful God whose name is the Lord Almighty,
19 cilsuep khaw tanglue tih na bibi khaw cungkuem pai. Na mik loh hlang ca rhoe kah longpuei boeih te a sawt tih hlang boeih te a longpuei tarhing neh a khoboe kah a thaih tarhing ah na paek.
you are the one who is supremely wise and who does incredible things. You watch what everyone does, and you reward them according to the way they live and what their actions deserve.
You carried out signs and miracles in Egypt, and you still do so today, both here in Israel and among all people everywhere. As a result you gained a great reputation, and this is still true today.
You led your people Israel out of Egypt with signs and miracles, with your great power and strength that terrified people.
22 Suktui neh khoitui aka pha khohmuen he amih taengah paek ham a napa rhoek taengah na toemngam bangla he khohmuen he amih taengah ni na paek.
You gave them this land that you had promised to give their forefathers, a land flowing with milk and honey.
23 Ha pawk uh tih he he a pang uh vaengah na ol te hnatun uh pawh. Te dongah ni he kah yoethae cungkuem he amih taengah na thoeng sak.
They came and took it over, but they didn't do what you said or follow your laws. They didn't do everything you ordered them to do, which is why you've brought all this disaster down on them.
Te dongah khopuei he amah aka vathoh thil Khalden kut dongah a paek coeng. cunghang neh, khokha neh, duektahaw na thui te khaw thoeng tih na hmuh coeng he.
Look at the siege ramps piled up against the city to capture it! Through war and famine and disease, the city will be taken by the Babylonians who are attacking it. You can see that everything you said would happen has happened.
25 Boeipa Yahovah namah loh kai taengah, “Khopuei he Khalden kut ah pae mai cakhaw khohmuen he tangka neh namah ham lai lamtah laipai te laipai sak na ti,” a ti nah.
Yet, Lord God, you have told me, ‘Buy yourself the field with silver in front of witnesses, even though the city has been handed over to the Babylonians!’”
26 Te vaengah BOEIPA ol te Jeremiah taengah ha pawk tih,
Then Lord gave Jeremiah this message:
27 “Kai tah pumsa boeih kah BOEIPA Pathen ni he, hno boeih he kai ham khobaerhambae a?” a ti nah.
Look! I am the Lord, the God of everyone. Is anything too hard for me to do?
28 Te dongah BOEIPA loh he ni a thui. He khopuei he Khalden kut neh Babylon manghai Nebukhanezar kut ah ka tloeng coeng tih a khaih pawn ni he.
So this is what the Lord says: Listen! I'm going to hand over this city to the king of Babylon and the Babylonians, and they will capture it.
29 He khopuei aka vathoh thil Khalden rhoek ha pawk uh vetih he khopuei he hmai neh a hlup ni. Te vaengah kai veet ham Baal taeng neh pathen taengah tuisi a bueih uh tih a imphu ah a phum te im neh a hoeh pah ni.
The Babylonians who are attacking the city are going to come and set fire to it. They will burn it down, including the houses belonging to the people who made me angry by burning incense to Baal on their rooftops, and by pouring out drink offerings in worship of other gods.
30 Israel ca neh Judah ca khaw ana om van tih a camoe lamloh ka mikhmuh ah boethae ni a saii uh. Israel ca ngawn long khaw a kut dongkah bisai neh kai m'veet uh. He tah BOEIPA kah olphong ni.
From their earliest days all the people of Israel and of Judah have ever done has been evil in my sight. In fact all they've even done is to make me angry through their actions, declares the Lord.
31 He khopuei he ka thintoek ham neh ka khosi ham khaw ka taengah om ngawn coeng. A thoong uh khohnin lamloh tahae khohnin duela ka mikhmuh lamloh a khoe rhoe coeng.
This city has been such a source of anger and frustration from the time it was built right up till now. So I'm going to get rid of it,
32 Israel ca rhoek neh Judah ca rhoek, amih kah a manghai rhoek neh a mangpa rhoek, a khosoih rhoek neh a tonghma, Judah hlang neh Jerusalem khosa loh boethae a saii boeih te kai ni m'veet uh.
because of all the evil things the people of Israel and Judah did that made me angry—their kings, and officials, their priests and prophets, all of those living in Judah and Jerusalem, everyone
33 Kai taengla a rhawn a koh uh tih a maelhmai then pawh. Te vaengah amih tukkil ham he a thoh neh a tukkil akhaw thuituennah doe ham a hnatun uh moenih.
They have turned their backs on me. They wouldn't even look at me. Even though I kept on trying to teach them, they refused to listen or accept instruction.
34 Im ah a sarhingkoi te a khueh uh tih a poeih ham te kai ming a khue thiluh.
They have put their disgusting idols in my Temple, making it unclean.
35 A canu neh a capa te Molek taengah paan sak ham kolrhawk ah Baal hmuensang te a thoh uh. Te tueilaehkoi te saii ham amih ka uen pawt tih ka lungbuei khaw a paan moenih. Te dongah Judah he tholh rhoela tholh.
They have built pagan shrines to Baal in the Valley of Hinnom so they could sacrifice their sons and daughters by burning them in the fire. This is something I never commanded. I never even thought of such a thing—doing something so awful and making the people of Judah guilty of sin.
36 Tedae he khopuei kawng tah Israel Pathen BOEIPA loh a thui tangloeng coeng he. Te ni nangmih khaw, 'Babylon manghai kut dongah cunghang neh, khokha neh, duektahaw neh a thak ni, ' a ti te.
Now about this city. You are correctly saying, “It's going be handed over to the king of Babylon through war and famine and disease.” However, this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says:
37 Kai loh amih te diklai pum lamkah ka coi coeng he.
I promise to gather my people from all the lands where I exiled them because they made me so very angry. I will bring them back here and they will live in safety.
They will be my people, and I will be their God.
Te daengah ni hnin takuem ah kai he n'rhih uh vetih amamih ham neh amih hnukkah a ca rhoek ham khaw a then eh.
I will make sure they think the same way and act in harmony, so that they will always honor me so all will be good for them and their descendants.
40 Amih taengah kumhal kah paipi te ka saii vetih amih taengah ka voelphoen ham khaw amih taeng lamloh ka paa mahpawh. Kai hinyahnah te amih thinko ah ka khueh daengah kai taeng lamloh a nong uh pawt eh.
I will make an everlasting agreement with them: I'm never going to stop doing them good and I will help them to respect me so that they won't ever abandon me.
I will be delighted to treat them well, and I will commit myself with the whole of my being to helping them to grow as a nation in this land.
42 BOEIPA loh he ni a thui. He pilnam soah he yoethae tanglue a cungkuem ka thoeng sak bangla amih taengah hnothen a cungkuem la ka thui te amih taengah ka thoeng sak van.
This is what the Lord says: Just as certainly as I have brought this whole disaster down on my people, so I'm going to give to them all the good things I have promised.
43 He kah kho ah khohmuen he koep a lai ni.
Fields will once again be bought in this country that you're describing, saying, “It's been completely destroyed—no people or animals are left. It's been handed over to the Babylonians.”
44 Khohmuen te tangka neh a lai uh vetih cabu dongah daek ham neh kutnoek daeng ham khaw Jerusalem kaepvai ah, Judah khopuei ah, tlang kah khopuei ah, kolrhawk khopuei ah, tuithim khopuei ah, Benjamin kho ah laipai te a a laipai sak ni. He tah BOEIPA kah olphong ni.
People will buy fields with silver again, deeds will be signed, sealed, and witnessed. This will happen here in the land of Benjamin, in the areas surrounding Jerusalem, and in all the towns of Judah—including the towns of the hill country, the foothills, and the Negev—because I will bring the people back from exile, declares the Lord.
