1 Corinthians 6
1 Dare any of you, having a matter against the other, go to law before the unrighteous and not before the sanctified?
Quand l'un de vous a un différend avec son frère, ose-t-il bien l'appeler en jugement devant les méchants, et non devant les saints?
2 Or know ye not that the sanctified will judge the world? And if the world is judged by you, are ye unworthy of very small legal disputes?
Ne savez-vous pas que les saints jugeront le monde? Et, si vous devez juger le monde, êtes-vous indignes de prononcer des jugements bien moins importants?
3 Know ye not that we will judge agents? Then why not mundane things?
Ne savez-vous pas que nous jugerons les anges? et nous ne jugerions pas des affaires d'intérêt?
4 Indeed therefore whenever ye have mundane legal disputes, men who are disdained by the church, these ye seat to judge.
Quand donc vous avez des procès pour affaires d'intérêt, vous prenez pour juges des gens qui sont méprisés de l'église!
5 I speak shame about you. So there is not among you not even one wise man who will be able to arbitrate between his brother?
Je le dis à votre honte. Ainsi, il n'y a pas parmi vous un seul homme sage qui puisse servir d'arbitre entre ses frères;
6 But brother goes to law against brother, and this before unbelievers?
mais un frère est en procès avec un frère, et cela devant des infidèles!
7 Now therefore it is indeed altogether a defeat for you because ye have legal disputes against yourselves. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded?
En général, c'est un défaut chez vous que d'avoir des procès les uns avec les autres. Pourquoi ne vous laissez-vous pas plutôt faire tort? Pourquoi ne vous laissez-vous pas plutôt spolier?
8 Instead ye do wrong, and defraud, and these things to brothers.
Mais c'est vous-mêmes, qui êtes injustes, spoliateurs, et cela envers des frères!
9 Or know ye not that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not led astray. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate men, nor homosexuals,
Ne savez-vous pas que les injustes n'hériteront point le royaume de Dieu? Ne vous y trompez pas: ni les libertins, ni les idolâtres, ni les adultères, ni les efféminés, ni les infâmes,
10 nor greedy men, nor thieves, nor drunkards, nor the slanderous, nor the predatory will inherit the kingdom of God.
ni les voleurs, ni les avares, ni les ivrognes, ni les outrageux, ni les rapaces n'hériteront le royaume de Dieu.
11 And some of you were these things, but ye were washed, but ye were sanctified, but ye were made righteous in the name of the Lord Jesus, and in the Spirit of our God.
Voilà pourtant ce que vous étiez, du moins quelques-uns de vous; mais vous avez été lavés; mais vous avez été sanctifiés; mais vous avez été justifiés au nom du Seigneur Jésus, et par l'Esprit de notre Dieu.
12 All things are lawful for me, but not all things are expedient. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under control by anything.
Tout m'est permis, mais tout n'est pas utile; tout m'est permis, mais je ne me laisserai dominer par rien.
13 The foods are for the belly and the belly for foods, but God will abolish both this and these things. But the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
Les aliments sont pour l'estomac, et l'estomac est pour les aliments: et Dieu détruira et ceux-ci, et celui-là. Mais le corps n'est pas pour le libertinage; il est pour le Seigneur, et le Seigneur, pour le corps:
14 And God both raised up the Lord and will raise us up through his power.
et Dieu, qui a ressuscité le Seigneur, nous ressuscitera aussi par sa puissance.
15 Know ye not that your bodies are body-parts of Christ? Therefore, having taken the body-parts of the Christ, should I make them body-parts of a harlot? May it not happen!
Ne savez-vous pas que vos corps sont les membres de Christ? Je prendrai donc les membres de Christ pour en faire les membres d'une prostituée? Loin de moi une telle pensée!
16 Or know ye not that he who is joined to a harlot is one body? For, The two, he says, will be in one flesh.
Ne savez-vous pas que celui qui s'unit à une prostituée, fait un seul et même corps avec elle? car il est dit: «les deux seront une seule chair.»
17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit.
Celui qui s'unit au Seigneur, est un seul et même esprit avec lui.
18 Flee fornication. Every sin, whatever a man may do, is outside the body, but he who fornicates sins against his own body.
Fuyez le libertinage. Quelque autre péché qu'un homme commette, ce péché est hors du corps, tandis que le libertin pèche contre son propre corps.
19 Or know ye not that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit in you, which ye have from God? And ye are not your own,
Ne savez-vous pas que votre corps est le temple du Saint-Esprit, qui est en vous et qui vous vient de Dieu? que vous ne vous appartenez point à vous-mêmes,
20 for ye were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and your spirit, which is of God.
car vous avez été achetés à grand prix? Glorifiez Dieu dans votre corps.
