1 Samuel 22
1 David therefore departed from there and escaped to Adullam’s cave. When his brothers and all his father’s house heard it, they went down there to him.
Salió, pues, David de allí, y se refugió en la caverna de Odollam. Al oír esto sus hermanos y toda la casa de su padre bajaron allí hacia él.
2 Everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered themselves to him; and he became captain over them. There were with him about four hundred men.
También todos los oprimidos, y todos los endeudados, y todos los amargados de espíritu se le allegaron, de modo que vino a ser su caudillo, teniendo consigo unos cuatrocientos hombres.
3 David went from there to Mizpeh of Moab; and he said to the king of Moab, “Please let my father and my mother come out to you, until I know what God will do for me.”
De allí partió David para Masfá de Moab, y dijo al rey de Moab: “Te ruego que dejes habitar entre vosotros a mi padre y mi madre, hasta que yo sepa lo que Dios va a hacer conmigo.”
4 He brought them before the king of Moab; and they lived with him all the time that David was in the stronghold.
Los entregó al rey de Moab, y se quedaron allí todo el tiempo que David estuvo en la fortaleza.
5 The prophet Gad said to David, “Do not stay in the stronghold. Depart, and go into the land of Judah.” Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hereth.
Pero el profeta Gad dijo a David: “No te quedes en la fortaleza. Marcha y vete a la tierra de Judá.” Partió, pues, David, y se fue al bosque de Háret.
6 Saul heard that David was discovered, with the men who were with him. Now Saul was sitting in Gibeah, under the tamarisk tree in Ramah, with his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing around him.
Supo Saúl que David y los hombres que le acompañaban habían sido descubiertos. Saúl estaba entonces sentado en Gabaá, bajo el tamarisco, en el collado, con su lanza en la mano, y rodeado de todos sus servidores.
7 Saul said to his servants who stood around him, “Hear now, you Benjamites! Will the son of Jesse give everyone of you fields and vineyards? Will he make you all captains of thousands and captains of hundreds?
Y dijo Saúl a sus servidores que le rodeaban: “Escuchad, hijos de Benjamín. El hijo de Isaí, ¿dará él también a todos vosotros campos y viñas? ¿Os hará a todos vosotros jefes de mil, y jefes de ciento,
8 Is that why all of you have conspired against me, and there is no one who discloses to me when my son makes a treaty with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you who is sorry for me, or discloses to me that my son has stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as it is today?”
para que todos os hayáis confabulado contra mí, sin que nadie me haya descubierto cómo mi hijo ha pactado con el hijo de Isaí, y sin que haya entre vosotros quien se compadezca de mí, y me descubra cómo mi hijo ha sublevado contra mí a mi siervo, para que me arme asechanzas, como lo hace el día de hoy?”
9 Then Doeg the Edomite, who stood by the servants of Saul, answered and said, “I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.
Respondió Doeg, idumeo, el cual estaba puesto sobre los siervos de Saúl, y dijo: “Yo he visto al hijo de Isaí cuando llegó a Nob, a Aquimelec, hijo de Aquitob;
10 He inquired of the LORD for him, gave him food, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.”
el cual consultó por él a Yahvé y le dio provisiones y le entregó también la espada de Goliat el filisteo.”
11 Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father’s house, the priests who were in Nob; and they all came to the king.
Entonces el rey envió a llamar a Aquimelec, hijo de Aquitob, el sacerdote, y a toda la casa de su padre, los sacerdotes que había en Nob. Vinieron, pues, al rey;
12 Saul said, “Hear now, you son of Ahitub.” He answered, “Here I am, my lord.”
y dijo Saúl: “¡Oye, hijo de Aquitob!” Respondió él: “Heme aquí, señor mío.”
13 Saul said to him, “Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, in that you have given him bread, and a sword, and have inquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as it is today?”
Y le preguntó Saúl: “¿Por qué habéis conspirado contra mí, tú y el hijo de Isaí, por cuanto le has dado pan y espada, y consultaste por él a Dios, para que se levantara contra mí y me armara asechanzas, como lo hace ahora?”
14 Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, “Who among all your servants is so faithful as David, who is the king’s son-in-law, captain of your body guard, and honored in your house?
Aquimelec respondió al rey, y dijo: “¿Quién entre todos tus siervos es tan fiel como David, que es yerno del rey, tiene acceso a tu consejo privado, y es honrado en tu casa?
15 Have I today begun to inquire of God for him? Be it far from me! Do not let the king impute anything to his servant, nor to all the house of my father; for your servant knew nothing of all this, less or more.”
¿Es acaso hoy que comencé a consultar por él a Dios? ¡Lejos de mí sea (lo que tú dices)! No impute el rey nada a su siervo, ni tampoco a ninguno de la casa de mi padre; porque tu siervo no sabía nada de esto, ni poco ni mucho.”
16 The king said, “You shall surely die, Ahimelech, you and all your father’s house.”
Replicó el rey: “Morirás sin remedio, Aquimelec, tú y toda la casa de tu padre.”
17 The king said to the guard who stood about him, “Turn and kill the priests of the LORD, because their hand also is with David, and because they knew that he fled and did not disclose it to me.” But the servants of the king would not put out their hand to fall on the priests of the LORD.
Y mandó el rey a los de su guardia que estaban alrededor de él: “Volveos y matad a los sacerdotes de Yahvé porque también ellos están en conspiración con David; y porque sabiendo que él huía no me lo denunciaron.” Mas los siervos del rey no osaron extender la mano para herir a los sacerdotes de Yahvé.
18 The king said to Doeg, “Turn and attack the priests!” Doeg the Edomite turned, and he attacked the priests, and he killed on that day eighty-five people who wore a linen ephod.
Dijo entonces el rey a Doeg: “Vuélvete y mata a los sacerdotes.” Y se volvió Doeg, el idumeo, y acometió a los sacerdotes; y mató en aquel día ochenta y cinco hombres que vestían el efod de lino.
19 He struck Nob, the city of the priests, with the edge of the sword—both men and women, children and nursing babies, and cattle, donkeys, and sheep, with the edge of the sword.
Pasó también a cuchillo a Nob, ciudad de los sacerdotes, matando a hombres y mujeres, chicos y niños de pecho, bueyes, asnos y ovejas.
20 One of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled after David.
Con todo se salvó un hijo de Aquimelec, hijo de Aquitob, que se llamaba Abiatar, el cual huyó en pos de David.
21 Abiathar told David that Saul had slain the LORD’s priests.
Abiatar contó a David cómo Saúl había hecho matar a los sacerdotes de Yahvé.
22 David said to Abiathar, “I knew on that day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would surely tell Saul. I am responsible for the death of all the persons of your father’s house.
Y dijo David a Abiatar: “Ya sabía yo aquel día en que estaba allí Doeg, idumeo, que no dejaría de informar a Saúl. Yo he causado la muerte de todas las personas de la casa de tu padre.
23 Stay with me. Do not be afraid, for he who seeks my life seeks your life. You will be safe with me.”
Quédate conmigo; no tengas temor, pues quien atenta contra mi vida, atenta también contra la tuya. Conmigo estarás bien guardado.”
