2 Chronicles 18
1 Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance; and he allied himself with Ahab.
Josaphat avait des richesses et des honneurs en abondance, et il s'allia à Achab.
2 After some years, he went down to Ahab to Samaria. Ahab killed sheep and cattle for him in abundance, and for the people who were with him, and moved him to go up with him to Ramoth Gilead.
Après quelques années, il descendit auprès d'Achab à Samarie. Achab lui tua en abondance des moutons et des bovins, ainsi qu'au peuple qui était avec lui, et il le poussa à monter avec lui à Ramoth Galaad.
3 Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, “Will you go with me to Ramoth Gilead?” He answered him, “I am as you are, and my people as your people. We will be with you in the war.”
Achab, roi d'Israël, dit à Josaphat, roi de Juda: « Veux-tu aller avec moi à Ramoth Galaad? » Il lui répondit: « Je suis comme toi, et mon peuple comme ton peuple. Nous serons avec toi à la guerre. »
4 Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “Please inquire first for the LORD’s word.”
Josaphat dit au roi d'Israël: « Je te prie de t'enquérir d'abord de la parole de Yahvé. »
5 Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, four hundred men, and said to them, “Shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battle, or shall I forbear?” They said, “Go up, for God will deliver it into the hand of the king.”
Alors le roi d'Israël rassembla les prophètes, quatre cents hommes, et leur dit: « Irai-je à Ramoth Galaad pour combattre, ou dois-je m'abstenir? » Ils ont dit: « Monte, car Dieu la livrera entre les mains du roi. »
6 But Jehoshaphat said, “Is not there here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we may inquire of him?”
Mais Josaphat dit: « N'y a-t-il pas ici un prophète de Yahvé en plus, pour que nous le consultions? »
7 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the LORD; but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me, but always evil. He is Micaiah the son of Imla.” Jehoshaphat said, “Do not let the king say so.”
Le roi d'Israël dit à Josaphat: « Il y a encore un homme par qui nous pouvons consulter Yahvé; mais je le déteste, car il ne prophétise jamais rien de bon à mon sujet, mais toujours du mal. C'est Michée, fils d'Imla. » Josaphat a dit: « Que le roi ne le dise pas. »
8 Then the king of Israel called an officer, and said, “Get Micaiah the son of Imla quickly.”
Alors le roi d'Israël appela un officier et dit: « Va vite chercher Michée, fils d'Imla. »
9 Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah each sat on his throne, arrayed in their robes, and they were sitting in an open place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.
Le roi d'Israël et Josaphat, roi de Juda, étaient assis chacun sur son trône, revêtus de leurs robes, et ils étaient assis sur une place ouverte à l'entrée de la porte de Samarie; et tous les prophètes prophétisaient devant eux.
10 Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made himself horns of iron and said, “The LORD says, ‘With these you shall push the Syrians, until they are consumed.’”
Sédécias, fils de Chenaana, se fit des cornes de fer et dit: « Yahvé dit: Avec celles-ci tu pousseras les Syriens jusqu'à ce qu'ils soient consumés. »
11 All the prophets prophesied so, saying, “Go up to Ramoth Gilead, and prosper; for the LORD will deliver it into the hand of the king.”
Tous les prophètes l'ont prophétisé, en disant: « Monte à Ramoth Galaad, et prospère, car Yahvé la livrera entre les mains du roi. »
12 The messenger who went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, “Behold, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one mouth. Let your word therefore, please be like one of theirs, and speak good.”
Le messager qui était allé appeler Michée lui parla ainsi: « Voici, les paroles des prophètes disent du bien au roi d'une seule bouche. Que ta parole soit donc, je te prie, semblable à l'une des leurs, et qu'elle dise du bien. »
13 Micaiah said, “As the LORD lives, I will say what my God says.”
Michée dit: « L'Éternel est vivant, je dirai ce que mon Dieu dit. »
14 When he had come to the king, the king said to him, “Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battle, or shall I forbear?” He said, “Go up, and prosper. They shall be delivered into your hand.”
Lorsqu'il fut arrivé auprès du roi, celui-ci lui dit: « Michée, irons-nous à Ramoth Galaad pour combattre, ou dois-je m'abstenir? » Il a dit: « Monte, et prospère. Ils seront livrés entre tes mains. »
15 The king said to him, “How many times shall I adjure you that you speak to me nothing but the truth in the LORD’s name?”
Le roi lui dit: « Combien de fois t'adjurerai-je de ne me dire que la vérité au nom de Yahvé? »
16 He said, “I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. The LORD said, ‘These have no master. Let them each return to his house in peace.’”
Il dit: « J'ai vu tout Israël dispersé sur les montagnes, comme des brebis qui n'ont pas de berger. Yahvé a dit: « Elles n'ont pas de maître. Que chacun retourne en paix dans sa maison ».
17 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Did not I tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?”
Le roi d'Israël dit à Josaphat: « Ne t'ai-je pas dit qu'il ne prophétiserait pas du bien à mon sujet, mais du mal? »
18 Micaiah said, “Therefore hear the LORD’s word: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the army of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.
Michée dit: « C'est pourquoi écoutez la parole de l'Éternel. J'ai vu l'Éternel assis sur son trône, et toute l'armée des cieux debout à sa droite et à sa gauche.
19 The LORD said, ‘Who will entice Ahab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth Gilead?’ One spoke saying in this way, and another saying in that way.
Yahvé dit: Qui séduira Achab, roi d'Israël, pour qu'il monte et tombe à Ramoth Galaad? L'un parlait en disant ceci, et l'autre en disant cela.
20 A spirit came out, stood before the LORD, and said, ‘I will entice him.’ “The LORD said to him, ‘How?’
Un esprit sortit, se tint devant l'Éternel, et dit: Je le séduirai. « Yahvé lui dit: « Comment?
21 “He said, ‘I will go, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ “He said, ‘You will entice him, and will prevail also. Go and do so.’
« Il a dit: « J'irai, et je serai un esprit de mensonge dans la bouche de tous ses prophètes ». « Il dit: 'Tu le séduiras, et tu l'emporteras aussi. Va et fais-le.
22 “Now therefore, behold, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these your prophets; and the LORD has spoken evil concerning you.”
« Maintenant, voici que Yahvé a mis un esprit de mensonge dans la bouche de vos prophètes, et Yahvé a dit du mal de vous. »
23 Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, “Which way did the LORD’s Spirit go from me to speak to you?”
Alors Sédécias, fils de Chenaana, s'approcha, frappa Michée sur la joue et dit: « Par où l'Esprit de Yahvé est-il sorti de moi pour te parler? »
24 Micaiah said, “Behold, you shall see on that day, when you go into an inner room to hide yourself.”
Michée dit: « Voici ce que tu verras ce jour-là, quand tu entreras dans une pièce intérieure pour te cacher. »
25 The king of Israel said, “Take Micaiah, and carry him back to Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king’s son;
Le roi d'Israël dit: « Prends Michée, et tu le porteras à Amon, gouverneur de la ville, et à Joas, fils du roi,
26 and say, ‘The king says, “Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace.”’”
et tu diras: « Le roi dit: « Mets cet homme dans la prison, et nourris-le de pain d'affliction et d'eau d'affliction, jusqu'à ce que je revienne en paix »".
27 Micaiah said, “If you return at all in peace, the LORD has not spoken by me.” He said, “Listen, you people, all of you!”
Michée dit: « Si vous revenez en paix, Yahvé n'a pas parlé par moi. » Il dit: « Écoutez, vous tous, peuple, tous! »
28 So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.
Le roi d'Israël et Josaphat, roi de Juda, montèrent à Ramoth Galaad.
29 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “I will disguise myself, and go into the battle; but you put on your robes.” So the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went into the battle.
Le roi d'Israël dit à Josaphat: « Je me déguiserai, et j'irai au combat; mais toi, mets tes vêtements. » Le roi d'Israël se déguisa donc, et ils allèrent au combat.
30 Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his chariots, saying, “Do not fight with small nor great, except only with the king of Israel.”
Or, le roi de Syrie avait donné cet ordre aux chefs de ses chars: « Ne combattez ni les petits ni les grands, si ce n'est seulement contre le roi d'Israël. »
31 When the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, “It is the king of Israel!” Therefore they turned around to fight against him. But Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.
Lorsque les chefs des chars virent Josaphat, ils dirent: « C'est le roi d'Israël! » Ils firent donc demi-tour pour le combattre. Mais Josaphat cria, et l'Éternel le secourut, et Dieu les poussa à s'éloigner de lui.
32 When the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him.
Lorsque les chefs des chars virent que ce n'était pas le roi d'Israël, ils cessèrent de le poursuivre.
33 A certain man drew his bow at random, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of the armor. Therefore he said to the driver of the chariot, “Turn around and carry me out of the battle, for I am severely wounded.”
Un homme tira son arc au hasard et frappa le roi d'Israël entre les jointures de l'armure. Il dit alors au conducteur du char: « Fais demi-tour et emporte-moi hors de la bataille, car je suis gravement blessé. »
34 The battle increased that day. However, the king of Israel propped himself up in his chariot against the Syrians until the evening; and at about sunset, he died.
La bataille s'intensifia ce jour-là. Cependant, le roi d'Israël se soutint dans son char contre les Syriens jusqu'au soir; et vers le coucher du soleil, il mourut.
