Ezekiel 16
1 Again the LORD’s word came to me, saying,
Et la parole de-l'Éternel me fut adressée en ces mots:
2 “Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations;
Fils de l'homme, montre à Jérusalem ses abominations,
3 and say, ‘The Lord GOD says to Jerusalem: “Your origin and your birth is of the land of the Canaanite. An Amorite was your father, and your mother was a Hittite.
et dis: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel, à Jérusalem: Par ton origine et ta naissance tu es du pays de Canaan; ton père fut un Amoréen, et ta mère une Héthienne.
4 As for your birth, in the day you were born your navel was not cut. You were not washed in water to cleanse you. You were not salted at all, nor wrapped in blankets at all.
Et à ta naissance, au jour où tu naquis, ton nombril ne fut point coupé, et tu ne fus point baignée dans l'eau pour être nettoyée, et on ne répandit point de sel sur toi, et tu ne fus point enveloppée dans des langes.
5 No eye pitied you, to do any of these things to you, to have compassion on you; but you were cast out in the open field, because you were abhorred in the day that you were born.
Personne ne t'accorda un regard de pitié pour te faire, par compassion pour toi, une seule de ces choses; mais tu fus jetée dans les champs, dégoûtée de toi-même, le jour de ta naissance.
6 “‘“When I passed by you, and saw you wallowing in your blood, I said to you, ‘Though you are in your blood, live!’ Yes, I said to you, ‘Though you are in your blood, live!’
Alors, passant près de toi, je te vis dans ton sang près d'être foulée, et je te dis, toi étant dans ton sang: Vis! Je te dis, toi étant dans ton sang: Vis!
7 I caused you to multiply as that which grows in the field, and you increased and grew great, and you attained to excellent beauty. Your breasts were formed, and your hair grew; yet you were naked and bare.
Je te multipliai comme les plantes des campagnes; et tu pris de l'accroissement et tu grandis, et tu fus parée de tous les charmes; tes mamelles s'affermirent, et ta chevelure se développa; mais tu étais nue et découverte.
8 “‘“Now when I passed by you, and looked at you, behold, your time was the time of love; and I spread my garment over you and covered your nakedness. Yes, I pledged myself to you and entered into a covenant with you,” says the Lord GOD, “and you became mine.
Et passant près de toi, je te vis, et voici, ton temps était venu, le temps des amours. Et j'étendis sur toi le pan de ma robe et couvris ta nu-ditéj et tu reçus mes serments, et je m'engageai dans une alliance avec toi, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel, et tu fus à moi.
9 “‘“Then I washed you with water. Yes, I thoroughly washed away your blood from you, and I anointed you with oil.
Puis je te baignai dans l'eau, je lavai le sang qui était sur toi, et je t'oignis avec de l'huile.
10 I clothed you also with embroidered work and put leather sandals on you. I dressed you with fine linen and covered you with silk.
Et je te revêtis d'étoffes brochées, et te mis une chaussure de peau de veau marin, et je t'enveloppai de lin et te couvris de soie.
11 I decked you with ornaments, put bracelets on your hands, and put a chain on your neck.
Et je te donnai une parure, mettant des bracelets à tes mains, et des chaînettes à ton cou,
12 I put a ring on your nose, earrings in your ears, and a beautiful crown on your head.
et je mis un anneau à tes narines, et des boucles à tes oreilles, et un superbe diadème sur ta tête.
13 Thus you were decked with gold and silver. Your clothing was of fine linen, silk, and embroidered work. You ate fine flour, honey, and oil. You were exceedingly beautiful, and you prospered to royal estate.
Tu fus ainsi parée d'or et d'argent, et le lin, et la soie, et les étoffes brochées étaient ton vêtement; la fleur de farine, et le miel et l'huile ta nourriture.
14 Your renown went out among the nations for your beauty; for it was perfect, through my majesty which I had put on you,” says the Lord GOD.
Et tu parvins à la plus grande beauté, et tu t'élevas jusqu'à la royauté. Et ton nom se répandit parmi les peuples à cause de ta beauté; car elle devint accomplie par la magnificence dont je te couvris, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
15 “‘“But you trusted in your beauty, and played the prostitute because of your renown, and poured out your prostitution on everyone who passed by. It was his.
Mais, te confiant en ta beauté, tu fus impudique, malgré le nom que tu portais, et tu prodiguas ton amour adultère à tous les passants: il était pour eux.
16 You took some of your garments, and made for yourselves high places decked with various colors, and played the prostitute on them. This should not happen, neither shall it be.
Et prenant de tes habits tu te fis sur des hauteurs des pavillons de toutes couleurs, et tu t'y prostituas; c'est ce qu'on n'avait pas encore vu et qu'on ne verra plus.
17 You also took your beautiful jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given you, and made for yourself images of men, and played the prostitute with them.
Et prenant tes superbes atours, faits de mon or et de mon argent, que je t'avais donnés, tu t'en fis des images d'hommes, et tu fus impudique avec elles.
18 You took your embroidered garments, covered them, and set my oil and my incense before them.
Et prenant tes vêtements brochés, tu les en recouvris et tu leur offris mon huile et mon encens.
19 My bread also which I gave you, fine flour, oil, and honey, with which I fed you, you even set it before them for a pleasant aroma; and so it was,” says the Lord GOD.
Et ma nourriture que je t'avais donnée, la fleur de farine, et l'huile, et le miel dont je te nourrissais, tu les leur offris en parfum odorant; et il en est ainsi, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
20 “‘“Moreover you have taken your sons and your daughters, whom you have borne to me, and you have sacrificed these to them to be devoured. Was your prostitution a small matter,
Et prenant tes fils et tes filles que tu avais enfantés pour moi, tu les leur sacrifias pour les faire dévorer par eux. Était-ce trop peu de ton impudicité,
21 that you have slain my children and delivered them up, in causing them to pass through the fire to them?
que tu aies aussi immolé mes fils, et que tu les aies donnés, en les leur consacrant?
22 In all your abominations and your prostitution you have not remembered the days of your youth, when you were naked and bare, and were wallowing in your blood.
Et au milieu de toutes tes abominations et de tes impudicités, tu as perdu le souvenir du temps de ta jeunesse, quand tu étais nue et découverte, et gisante dans ton sang près d'être foulée.
23 “‘“It has happened after all your wickedness—woe, woe to you!” says the Lord GOD—
Puis après tous tes méfaits (malheur! malheur à toi! dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel),
24 “that you have built for yourselves a vaulted place, and have made yourselves a lofty place in every street.
tu t'es bâti des voûtes, et élevé des tertres dans toutes les places,
25 You have built your lofty place at the head of every way, and have made your beauty an abomination, and have opened your feet to everyone who passed by, and multiplied your prostitution.
dans tous les carrefours tu as élevé tes tertres et profané ta beauté, et ouvert tes pieds à chaque passant, et commis nombre d'impudicités.
26 You have also committed sexual immorality with the Egyptians, your neighbors, great of flesh; and have multiplied your prostitution, to provoke me to anger.
Tu fus impudique avec les enfants de l'Egypte, tes voisins aux membres puissants, et commis nombre d'impudicités pour m'irriter.
27 See therefore, I have stretched out my hand over you, and have diminished your portion, and delivered you to the will of those who hate you, the daughters of the Philistines, who are ashamed of your lewd way.
Et voici, levant ma main sur toi, je retranchai de ce que je t'avais assigné, et te livrai à la discrétion de tes ennemies, les filles des Philistins, qui rougissaient de ta conduite criminelle.
28 You have played the prostitute also with the Assyrians, because you were insatiable; yes, you have played the prostitute with them, and yet you were not satisfied.
Et tu fus impudique avec les enfants de l'Assyrie, parce que tu ne pouvais être rassasiée; et tu fus impudique avec eux, et tu ne fus pas encore rassasiée.
29 You have moreover multiplied your prostitution to the land of merchants, to Chaldea; and yet you were not satisfied with this.
Et tu commis de grandes impudicités avec le pays de Canaan jusqu'en Chaldée, et même par là tu ne fus pas rassasiée.
30 “‘“How weak is your heart,” says the Lord GOD, “since you do all these things, the work of an impudent prostitute;
Que ton cœur est malade! dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel, puisque tu as fait toutes ces choses, actes d'une impudente prostituée,
31 in that you build your vaulted place at the head of every way, and make your lofty place in every street, and have not been as a prostitute, in that you scorn pay.
que tu as bâti tes voûtes dans tous les carrefours, et élevé tes tertres dans toutes les places! Et tu ne fus point la prostituée qui fait la dégoûtée pour le prix,
32 “‘“Adulterous wife, who takes strangers instead of her husband!
la femme adultère qui au lieu de son mari reçoit des étrangers.
33 People give gifts to all prostitutes; but you give your gifts to all your lovers, and bribe them, that they may come to you on every side for your prostitution.
A toutes les prostituées on fait des présents, mais toi, tu as donné tes présents à tous tes amants, et tu les as payés, pour qu'ils vinssent à toi de toutes parts commettre l'impudicité avec toi.
34 You are different from other women in your prostitution, in that no one follows you to play the prostitute; and whereas you give hire, and no hire is given to you, therefore you are different.”’
Et tu fus le contraire des autres femmes dans ton impudicité, en ce que tu n'étais pas recherchée, et en ce que tu faisais des présents, et qu'on ne t'en faisait point. C'est ainsi que tu as été le contraire.
35 “Therefore, prostitute, hear the LORD’s word:
C'est pourquoi, écoute, impudique, la parole de l'Éternel!
36 ‘The Lord GOD says, “Because your filthiness was poured out, and your nakedness uncovered through your prostitution with your lovers; and because of all the idols of your abominations, and for the blood of your children, that you gave to them;
Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: Pour avoir prodigué tes trésors et dans ton impudicité découvert ta nudité à tes amants et à toutes tes abominables idoles, et à cause du sang de tes enfants que tu leur as donnés,
37 therefore see, I will gather all your lovers, with whom you have taken pleasure, and all those whom you have loved, with all those whom you have hated. I will even gather them against you on every side, and will uncover your nakedness to them, that they may see all your nakedness.
pour cela, voici, je rassemblerai tous tes amants auxquels tu as su plaire, et tous ceux que tu as aimés, avec tous ceux que tu haïssais, je les rassemblerai contre toi de toutes parts, et leur découvrirai ta nudité, afin qu'ils voient toute ta nudité.
38 I will judge you as women who break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will bring on you the blood of wrath and jealousy.
Et je te jugerai selon la loi des adultères et des meurtriers, et te livrerai à la sanguinaire vengeance de la fureur et de la jalousie.
39 I will also give you into their hand, and they will throw down your vaulted place, and break down your lofty places. They will strip you of your clothes and take your beautiful jewels. They will leave you naked and bare.
Et je t'abandonnerai à leurs mains, et ils démoliront tes voûtes, et abattront tes tertres, et te dépouilleront de tes habits, et t'ôteront tes superbes atours, et te laisseront là nue et découverte.
40 They will also bring up a company against you, and they will stone you with stones, and thrust you through with their swords.
Et ils amèneront une foule contre toi, et te lapideront et te mettront en pièces avec leurs épées.
41 They will burn your houses with fire, and execute judgments on you in the sight of many women. I will cause you to cease from playing the prostitute, and you will also give no hire any more.
Et ils brûleront tes maisons au feu, et te feront ce que tu mérites, sous les yeux de beaucoup de femmes. Et je mettrai fin à ton impudicité, et le prix aussi tu ne le paieras plus.
42 So I will cause my wrath toward you to rest, and my jealousy will depart from you. I will be quiet, and will not be angry any more.
Et j'assouvirai ma fureur sur toi, et et tu ne seras plus l'objet de ma jalousie, et je serai calme et nullement irritable désormais.
43 “‘“Because you have not remembered the days of your youth, but have raged against me in all these things; therefore, behold, I also will bring your way on your head,” says the Lord GOD: “and you shall not commit this lewdness with all your abominations.
Parce que tu ne t'es pas rappelé le temps de ta jeunesse, et que tu t'es élevée contre moi par toutes ces choses, voici, moi aussi, je ferai retomber sur ta tête tout ce que tu as fait, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel; car tu n'as pas réfléchi à toutes tes abominations.
44 “‘“Behold, everyone who uses proverbs will use this proverb against you, saying, ‘As is the mother, so is her daughter.’
Voici, tous ceux qui emploient des proverbes, t'appliqueront le proverbe: Telle mère, telle fille!
45 You are the daughter of your mother, who loathes her husband and her children; and you are the sister of your sisters, who loathed their husbands and their children. Your mother was a Hittite, and your father an Amorite.
Tu es la fille de ta mère, qui répudia son mari et ses enfants, et tu es la sœur de tes sœurs, qui répudièrent leurs maris et leurs enfants. Votre mère est une Héthienne, et votre père un Amoréen.
46 Your elder sister is Samaria, who dwells at your left hand, she and her daughters; and your younger sister, who dwells at your right hand, is Sodom with her daughters.
Et la sœur aînée est Samarie, avec ses filles, qui habite à ta gauche, et ta sœur cadette, qui demeure à ta droite, est Sodome avec ses filles.
47 Yet you have not walked in their ways, nor done their abominations; but soon you were more corrupt than they in all your ways.
Mais non seulement tu as suivi leurs errements, agi d'après leurs abominations; bientôt ce fut trop peu pour toi; tu fus pire qu'elles, dans toute ta conduite.
48 As I live,” says the Lord GOD, “Sodom your sister has not done, she nor her daughters, as you have done, you and your daughters.
Par ma vie, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel, Sodome ta sœur, avec ses filles, n'en a pas fait autant que toi avec tes filles.
49 “‘“Behold, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: pride, fullness of bread, and prosperous ease was in her and in her daughters. She also did not strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
Voici quel a été le crime de Sodome, ta sœur: orgueil, abondance, sécurité tranquille, telle était sa vie et celle de ses filles; elles n'ont point soutenu par la main le misérable et l'indigent,
50 They were arrogant and committed abomination before me. Therefore I took them away when I saw it.
et elles étaient hautaines et commettaient des abominations devant moi, aussi les ai-je détruites, quand je l'ai vu.
51 Samaria has not committed half of your sins; but you have multiplied your abominations more than they, and have justified your sisters by all your abominations which you have done.
Et Samarie n'a pas commis la moitié de tes péchés, et tu as commis un plus grand nombre d'abominations qu'elles, et justifié tes sœurs par toutes les abominations que tu as commises.
52 You also bear your own shame yourself, in that you have given judgment for your sisters; through your sins that you have committed more abominable than they, they are more righteous than you. Yes, be also confounded, and bear your shame, in that you have justified your sisters.
Subis donc aussi toi-même l'opprobre que tu adjuges à tes sœurs! Par tes péchés qui ont été plus abominables que les leurs, elles se trouvent plus justes que toi. Soit donc aussi confondue, et subis ton opprobre, puisque tu as justifié tes sœurs.
53 “‘“I will reverse their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters, and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, and the captivity of your captives among them;
Et je ramènerai leurs captifs, les captifs de Sodome et de ses filles, et les captifs parmi les leurs,
54 that you may bear your own shame, and may be ashamed because of all that you have done, in that you are a comfort to them.
afin qu'ainsi tu subisses ton opprobre, et que tu aies honte de tout ce que tu as fait, tant pour eux une consolation.
55 Your sisters, Sodom and her daughters, will return to their former estate; and Samaria and her daughters will return to their former estate; and you and your daughters will return to your former estate.
Et ta sœur Sodome et ses filles, reviendront à leur premier état, et Samarie et ses filles reviendront à leur premier état, et toi et tes filles vous reviendrez à votre premier état.
56 For your sister Sodom was not mentioned by your mouth in the day of your pride,
Et cependant on n'entendait point sortir de ta bouche le nom de Sodome ta sœur, dans le temps de ta hauteur,
57 before your wickedness was uncovered, as at the time of the reproach of the daughters of Syria, and of all who are around her, the daughters of the Philistines, who despise you all around.
avant que ta méchanceté fût manifestée, comme cela eut lieu, quand tu fus outragée par les filles de la Syrie et tous ceux qui les entourent, par les filles des Philistins qui tout autour de toi te méprisaient.
58 You have borne your lewdness and your abominations,” says the LORD.
Tes crimes et tes abominations, tu les subis maintenant, dit l'Éternel.
59 “‘For the Lord GOD says: “I will also deal with you as you have done, who have despised the oath in breaking the covenant.
Car ainsi parle le Seigneur, l'Éternel: J'agirai envers toi comme tu en as agi, toi qui as méprisé le serment en rompant l'alliance.
60 Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you.
Cependant je me rappellerai l'alliance que j'ai faite avec toi au temps de ta jeunesse, et je veux établir avec toi une alliance éternelle.
61 Then you will remember your ways and be ashamed when you receive your sisters, your elder sisters and your younger; and I will give them to you for daughters, but not by your covenant.
Et tu te rappelleras ta conduite, et tu en auras honte, quand tu recevras tes sœurs, les aînées et les cadettes, et que je te les donnerai pour filles, mais non en vertu de ton alliance.
62 I will establish my covenant with you. Then you will know that I am the LORD;
Et j'établirai mon alliance avec toi, et tu reconnaîtras que je suis l'Éternel,
63 that you may remember, and be confounded, and never open your mouth any more because of your shame, when I have forgiven you all that you have done,” says the Lord GOD.’”
afin que tu te rappelles, et que tu aies honte et que tu n'ouvres pas la bouche de confusion, quand je te pardonnerai tout ce que tu as fait, dit le Seigneur, l'Éternel.
