Deuteronomy 12
1 These are the laws and the decisions which you are to keep with care in the land which the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you to be your heritage all the days of your life on earth.
Voici les préceptes et les ordonnances que vous devez pratiquer dans le pays que le Seigneur Dieu de tes pères va te donner, afin que tu le possèdes durant tous les jours que tu marcheras sur la terre.
2 You are to give up to the curse all those places where the nations, whom you are driving out, gave worship to their gods, on the high mountains and the hills and under every green tree:
Renversez tous les lieux dans lesquels les nations que vous allez posséder ont adoré leurs dieux sur les hautes montagnes et sur les collines, et sous les arbres couverts de feuillage.
3 Their altars and their pillars are to be broken down, and their holy trees burned with fire, and the images of their gods cut down; you are to take away their names out of that place.
Détruisez leurs autels, et brisez leurs statues, brûlez au feu leurs lieux sacrés et réduisez en poudre leurs idoles: effacez leurs noms de ces lieux.
4 Do not so to the Lord your God.
Vous ne ferez pas ainsi envers le Seigneur votre Dieu;
5 But let your hearts be turned to the place which will be marked out by the Lord your God, among your tribes, to put his name there;
Mais vous viendrez au lieu que le Seigneur votre Dieu aura choisi d’entre toutes vos tribus, pour y établir son nom, et pour y habiter;
6 And there you are to take your burned offerings and other offerings, and the tenth part of your goods, and the offerings to be lifted up to the Lord, and the offerings of your oaths, and those which you give freely from the impulse of your hearts, and the first births among your herds and your flocks;
Et vous offrirez en ce lieu vos holocaustes et vos victimes, les dîmes et les prémices de vos mains, vos vœux et vos dons, les premiers-nés de vos bœufs et de vos brebis.
7 There you and all your families are to make a feast before the Lord your God, with joy in everything to which you put your hand, because the Lord has given you his blessing.
Et vous mangerez là en la présence du Seigneur votre Dieu, et vous vous réjouirez en toutes les choses auxquelles vous aurez mis la main vous et vos maisons, et dans lesquelles vous aura bénis le Seigneur votre Dieu.
8 You are not to do things then in the way in which we now do them here, every man as it seems right to him:
Vous ne ferez point là ce que nous faisons ici aujourd’hui, chacun ce qui lui paraît juste.
9 For you have not come to the rest and the heritage which the Lord your God is giving you.
Car jusqu’au présent temps vous n’êtes pas venus dans le repos et la possession que le Seigneur votre Dieu va vous donner.
10 But when you have gone over Jordan and are living in the land which the Lord your God is giving you as your heritage, and when he has given you rest from all those on every side who are fighting against you, and you are living there safely;
Vous passerez le Jourdain et vous habiterez dans la terre que le Seigneur votre Dieu va vous donner, afin que vous y soyez en repos du côté de tous les ennemis d’alentour, et que vous habitiez sans aucune crainte,
11 Then there will be a place marked out by the Lord your God as the resting-place for his name, and there you will take all the things which I give you orders to take: your burned offerings and other offerings, and the tenth part of your goods, and the offerings to be lifted up, and the offerings of your oaths which you make to the Lord;
Dans le lieu qu’aura choisi le Seigneur votre Dieu, pour que son nom y soit: c’est là que vous apporterez tout ce que je vous prescris, vos holocaustes, vos hosties, vos dîmes et les prémices de vos mains, et tout ce qu’il y a de meilleur dans les présents que vous vouerez au Seigneur.
12 And you will be glad before the Lord your God, you and your sons and your daughters, and your men-servants and your women-servants, and the Levite who is with you in your house, because he has no part or heritage among you.
Là, vous ferez des festins devant le Seigneur votre Dieu, vous, vos fils et vos filles, vos serviteurs et vos servantes, et le Lévite qui demeure dans vos villes; car il n’a pas d’autre part et d’autre possession parmi vous.
13 Take care that you do not make your burned offerings in any place you see:
Prends garde de ne point offrir tes holocaustes en tout lieu que tu verras;
14 But in the place marked out by the Lord in one of your tribes, there let your burned offerings be offered, and there do what I have given you orders to do.
Mais tu offriras tes hosties dans celui qu’aura choisi le Seigneur en l’une de tes tribus, et tu feras tout ce que je t’ordonne.
15 Only you may put to death animals, such as the gazelle or the roe, for your food in any of your towns, at the desire of your soul, in keeping with the blessing of the Lord your God which he has given you: the unclean and the clean may take of it.
Mais si tu veux manger, et que l’aliment de la chair le plaise, tue et mange, selon la bénédiction que le Seigneur ton Dieu t’aura donnée dans tes villes: que l’animal, soit impur, c’est-à-dire, ayant quelque tache ou étant mutilé, soit pur, c’est-à-dire entier et sans tache, et qui peut être offert, tu en mangeras, comme de la chèvre sauvage ou du cerf;
16 But you may not take the blood for food, it is to be drained out on the earth like water.
Seulement, sans manger le sang, que tu répandras sur la terre comme l’eau.
17 In your towns you are not to take as food the tenth part of your grain, or of your wine or your oil, or the first births of your herds or of your flocks, or anything offered under an oath, or freely offered to the Lord, or given as a lifted offering;
Tu ne pourras manger dans tes villes la dîme de ton blé, de ton vin et de ton huile, ni les premiers-nés des troupeaux de gros et de menu bétail, ni rien de ce que tu auras voué et de ce que tu auras voulu offrir spontanément, ni les prémices de tes mains;
18 But they will be your food before the Lord your God in the place of his selection, where you may make a feast of them, with your son and your daughter, and your man-servant and your woman-servant, and the Levite who is living with you: and you will have joy before the Lord your God in everything to which you put your hand.
Mais tu les mangeras devant le Seigneur ton Dieu, dans le lieu que le Seigneur ton Dieu aura choisi, toi, ton fils et ta fille, ton serviteur et ta servante, et le Lévite qui demeure dans tes villes; et tu te réjouiras et tu te réconforteras devant le Seigneur ton Dieu, en toutes les choses auxquelles tu auras mis ta main.
19 See that you do not give up caring for the Levite as long as you are living in your land.
Prends garde de ne pas abandonner le Lévite pendant tout le temps que tu seras sur la terre.
20 When the Lord your God makes wide the limit of your land, as he has said, and you say, I will take flesh for my food, because you have a desire for it; then you may take whatever flesh you have a desire for.
Quand le Seigneur ton Dieu aura étendu tes limites, comme il t’a dit, et que tu voudras te nourrir de la chair que désire ton âme:
21 If the place marked out by the Lord your God as the resting-place for his name is far away from you, then take from your herds and from your flocks which the Lord has given you, as I have said, and have a meal of it in the towns where you may be living.
Si le lieu que le Seigneur ton Dieu aura choisi, pour que son nom y soit, se trouve éloigné, tu tueras du gros et du menu bétail, que tu auras, comme je t’ai ordonné, et tu en mangeras dans tes villes, comme il te plaira.
22 It will be your food, like the gazelle and the roe; the unclean and the clean may take of it.
Comme on mange de la chèvre sauvage et du cerf, ainsi tu t’en nourriras; et le pur et l’impur en mangeront en commun.
23 But see that you do not take the blood for food; for the blood is the life; and you may not make use of the life as food with the flesh.
Garde-toi seulement de manger le sang; car le sang tient lieu d’âme; et c’est pour cela que tu ne dois pas manger l’âme avec la chair,
24 Do not take it for food but let it be drained out on the earth like water.
Mais tu le répandras sur la terre comme l’eau,
25 Do not take it for food; so that it may be well for you and for your children after you, while you do what is right in the eyes of the Lord.
Afin que bien t’arrive, à toi, et à tes enfants après toi, lorsque tu auras fait ce qui plaît en la présence du Seigneur.
26 But the holy things which you have, and the offerings of your oaths, you are to take to the place which will be marked out by the Lord:
Quant à ce que tu auras sanctifié et voué au Seigneur, tu le prendras, puis tu viendras au lieu qu’aura choisi le Seigneur.
27 Offering the flesh and the blood of your burned offerings on the altar of the Lord your God; and the blood of your offerings is to be drained out on the altar of the Lord your God, and the flesh will be your food.
Et tu offriras pour tes oblations la chair et le sang sur l’autel du Seigneur ton Dieu; tu répandras le sang des hosties sur l’autel; mais toi, tu te nourriras de la chair.
28 Take note of all these orders I am giving you and give attention to them, so that it may be well for you and for your children after you for ever, while you do what is good and right in the eyes of the Lord your God.
Observe et écoute tout ce que moi, je t’ordonne ici, afin que bien t’arrive, à toi et à tes enfants après toi pour toujours, lorsque tu auras fait ce qui est bon et agréable en présence du Seigneur ton Dieu.
29 When the people of the land where you are going have been cut off before you by the Lord your God, and you have taken their land and are living in it;
Quand le Seigneur ton Dieu aura détruit devant ta face les nations, chez lesquelles tu entreras, pour les posséder, et que tu les posséderas, et que tu habiteras en leur terre,
30 After their destruction take care that you do not go in their ways, and that you do not give thought to their gods, saying, How did these nations give worship to their gods? I will do as they did.
Prends garde de ne pas les imiter, après que, toi y entrant, elles auront été renversées, et de ne pas rechercher leurs cérémonies, disant: Comme ces nations ont adoré leurs dieux, ainsi moi aussi, je les adorerai.
31 Do not so to the Lord your God: for everything which is disgusting to the Lord and hated by him they have done in honour of their gods: even burning their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods.
Tu ne feras point semblablement envers le Seigneur ton Dieu; car toutes les abominations qu’abhorre le Seigneur, elles les ont faites pour leurs dieux, offrant leurs fils et leurs filles, et les brûlant au feu.
32 You are to keep with care all the words I give you, making no addition to them and taking nothing from them.
Fais seulement pour le Seigneur, ce que je t’ordonne; n’ajoute et ne diminue rien.
