Ruth 2
1 And Noemin had [a friend] an acquaintance of her husband, and the man [was] a mighty man of the kindred of Elimelech, and his name [was] Booz.
Bấy giờ, Na-ô-mi có một người bà con bên chồng, có quyền thế và giàu có, thuộc họ Ê-li-mê-léc, tên là Bô-ô.
2 And Ruth the Moabitess said to Noemin, Let me go now to the field, and I will glean amongst the ears behind the man with whoever I shall find favour: and she said to her, Go, daughter.
Một hôm, Ru-tơ thưa với Na-ô-mi: “Xin cho phép con ra đồng mót lúa. Con sẽ theo sau người thợ gặt nào tử tế với con.” Na-ô-mi nói: “Con hãy đi, con gái ta.”
3 And she went; and came and gleaned in the field behind the reapers; and she happened by chance to come on a portion of the land of Booz, of the kindred of Elimelech.
Vậy Ru-tơ đi theo sau thợ gặt và thợ mót lúa. Tình cờ nàng vào đồng lúa của Bô-ô, người bà con của cha chồng, thuộc họ Ê-li-mê-léc.
4 And, behold, Booz came from Bethleem, and said to the reapers, The Lord [be] with you: and they said to him, The Lord bless you.
Trong khi nàng đang ở đó, Bô-ô từ Bết-lê-hem về, nói với những người thợ: “Cầu Chúa Hằng Hữu ban phước các anh chị em!” Những người thợ đáp: “Cầu Chúa Hằng Hữu cũng ban phước cho ông!”
5 And Booz said to his servant who was set over the reapers, Whose [is] this damsel?
Rồi Bô-ô quay sang hỏi người cai thợ: “Cô gái ở phía kia là ai vậy?”
6 And his servant who was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish damsel who returned with Noemin out of the land of Moab.
Người cai thợ thưa: “Đó là một thiếu phụ người Mô-áp vừa theo bà Na-ô-mi về đây.
7 And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather amongst the sheaves after the reapers: and she came and stood from morning till evening, and rested not [even] a little in the field.
Chị ấy xin tôi cho chị theo sau thợ gặt để mót lúa. Chị mót từ sáng sớm đến giờ, chỉ nghỉ tay vài phút.”
8 And Booz said to Ruth, Hast you not heard, [my] daughter? go not to glean in another field; and depart not you hence, join yourself here with my damsels.
Bô-ô đi đến và nói với Ru-tơ: “Hãy nghe, con gái ta. Hãy ở đây mót lúa với chúng ta; đừng đến đám ruộng khác. Hãy theo sát các cô thợ gặt trong đám ruộng của ta. Hãy để ý họ gặt ở đám ruộng nào, rồi theo họ đến đó.
9 [Let] your eyes [be] on the field where [my men] shall reap, and you shall go after them: behold, I have charged the young men not to touch you: and when you shall thirst, then you shall go to the vessels, and drink of that which the young men shall have drawn.
Ta đã dặn các thanh niên đừng làm phiền con rồi. Khi nào khát, cứ đến uống nước với thợ gặt.”
10 And she fell upon her face, and did reverence to the ground, and said to him, How is it that I have found grace in your eyes, that you should take notice of me, whereas I am a stranger?
Ru-tơ quỳ xuống cúi chào và nói: “Sao ông tốt với tôi như thế, mặc dù tôi chỉ là một người ngoại quốc?”
11 And Booz answered and said to her, It has fully been told me how you have dealt with your mother-in-law after the death of your husband; and how you did leave your father and your mother, and the land of your birth, and came to a people whom you knew not before.
Bô-ô đáp: “Ta có nghe từ ngày chồng con chết đi, con đã tận tình phụng sự bà gia. Ta biết con đã từ bỏ cha mẹ, quê hương để đến đây sống giữa những người xa lạ.
12 The Lord recompense your work; may a full reward be given you of the Lord God of Israel, to whom you have come to trust under his wings.
Cầu Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên ban thưởng cho con dồi dào vì con đã tìm đến nấp dưới cánh Ngài.”
13 And she said, Let me find grace in your sight, my lord, because you have comforted me, and because you have spoken kindly to your handmaid, and behold, I shall be as one of your servants.
Ru-tơ cảm kích: “Thưa ông, tôi mong được tiếp tục làm vui lòng. Ông đã an ủi tôi bằng những lời tử tế, dù tôi không đáng là đầy tớ ông.”
14 And Booz said to her, Now [it is] time to eat; come here, and you shall eat of the bread, and you shall dip your morsel in the vinegar: and Ruth sat by the side of the reapers: and Booz handed her meal, and she ate, and was satisfied, and left.
Đến giờ ăn, Bô-ô gọi Ru-tơ: “Đến đây ăn với chúng tôi. Nếu con thích, con có thể chấm bánh vào nước rượu này.” Vậy nàng đến, ngồi chung với các thợ gặt. Bô-ô đem cho nàng thức ăn—nàng ăn no nê mà vẫn còn thừa.
15 And she rose up to glean; and Booz charged his young men, saying, Let her even glean amongst the sheaves, and reproach her not.
Khi Ru-tơ trở lại làm việc, Bô-ô dặn các thanh niên giúp việc: “Hãy để nàng mót tự do, dù có nhặt giữa các bó lúa cũng đừng nói gì.
16 And do you by all means carry it for her, and you shall surely let fall for her some of that which is heaped up; and let her eat, and glean, and rebuke her not.
Thỉnh thoảng, rút ra trong bó ít bông lúa, bỏ cho nàng nhặt.”
17 So she gleaned in the field till evening, and beat out that she had gleaned, and it was about an ephah of barely.
Ru-tơ cứ mót nhặt lúa mạch. Đến tối, sau khi đập các bó lúa đã mót, nàng được một giỏ đầy.
18 And she took [it] up, and went into the city: and her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned, and Ruth brought forth and gave to her the food which she had left from what she had been satisfied with.
Nàng đem lúa về cho bà gia. Ru-tơ cũng đưa cho bà phần thức ăn còn lại từ bữa trưa của nàng.
19 And her mother-in-law said to her, Where have you gleaned today, and where have you wrought? blessed be he that took notice of you. And Ruth told her mother-in-law where she [had] wrought, and said, The name of the man with whom I wrought today [is] Booz.
Bà gia hỏi: “Hôm nay con mót lúa ở đâu? Cầu Chúa Hằng Hữu ban phước lành cho người đối xử tử tế với con!” Nàng kể cho bà gia nghe mọi việc, rồi nói: “Người chủ ruộng tên là Bô-ô.”
20 And Noemin said to her daughter-in-law, Blessed is he of the Lord, because he has not failed in his mercy with the living and with the dead: and Noemin said to her, The man is near akin to us, he is one of our relations.
Na-ô-mi thốt lên: “Xin Chúa Hằng Hữu ban phước lành cho ông ấy! Ngài vẫn tiếp tục làm ơn cho người sống và người chết. Ông ấy là họ hàng với chúng ta, một người bà con rất gần.”
21 And Ruth said to her mother-in-law, Yes, he said also to me, Keep close to my damsels, until the men shall have finished all my reaping.
Ru-tơ nói: “Ông ta còn bảo con cứ đến mót lúa cho đến cuối mùa gặt.”
22 And Noemin said to Ruth her daughter-in-law, [It is] well, daughter, that you went out with his damsels; thus they shall not meet you in another field.
Na-ô-mi khuyến khích con dâu: “Thế thì tốt lắm! Hãy làm điều ông ấy nói. Hãy theo các cô thợ gặt của ông ấy cho đến hết mùa gặt. Con sẽ an toàn, không bị quấy nhiễu như những đám ruộng khác.”
23 And Ruth joined herself to the damsels of Booz to glean until they had finished the barley harvest and the wheat harvest.
Vậy, ngày ngày Ru-tơ theo sau các cô thợ gặt của Bô-ô để mót lúa cho đến cuối vụ gặt lúa mạch. Rồi cô tiếp tục làm việc với họ cho đến vụ gặt lúa mì đầu mùa hè. Suốt thời gian ấy cô vẫn sống với bà gia của mình.
