Psalms 60

1 Unto the end. For those who will be changed, with the inscription of a title, of David himself, for instruction: when he set fire to Mesopotamia of Syria and Sobal, and Joab turned back and struck Idumea, in the valley of the salt pits, twelve thousand men. O God, you have rejected us, and you have ruined us. You became angry, and yet you have been merciful to us.

Lorsqu'il fit la guerre avec les Syriens de Mésopotamie et avec les Syriens de Tsoba, et que Joab revint et défit douze mille Édomites dans la vallée du Sel. O Dieu, tu nous as rejetés, tu nous as dispersés, tu t'es irrité; rétablis-nous!

2 You have moved the earth, and you have disturbed it. Heal its breaches, for it has been moved.

Tu as fait trembler la terre, tu l'as déchirée; répare ses brèches, car elle est ébranlée.

3 You have revealed to your people difficulties. You have made us drink the wine of remorse.

Tu as fait voir à ton peuple des choses dures; tu nous as abreuvés d'un vin d'étourdissement.

4 You have given a warning sign to those who fear you, so that they may flee from before the face of the bow, so that your beloved may be delivered.

Mais tu as donné à ceux qui te craignent un étendard

5 Save me with your right hand, and hear me.

Afin que tes bien-aimés soient délivrés; sauve-nous par ta droite, et nous exauce!

6 God has spoken in his holy place: I will rejoice, and I will divide Shechem, and I will measure the steep valley of the tabernacles.

Dieu a parlé dans son sanctuaire; je me réjouirai; je partagerai Sichem, et je mesurerai la vallée de Succoth:

7 Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine. And Ephraim is the strength of my head. Judah is my king.

Galaad est à moi; à moi Manassé; Éphraïm est le rempart de ma tête; Juda mon législateur;

8 Moab is the cooking pot of my hope. Into Idumea, I will extend my shoe. To me, the foreigners have been made subject.

Moab est le bassin où je me lave; je jette mon soulier sur Édom; terre des Philistins, pousse des acclamations à mon honneur!

9 Who will lead me into the fortified city? Who will lead me all the way to Idumea?

Qui me conduira vers la ville forte? Qui me mènera jusqu'en Édom?

10 Will not you, O God, who has rejected us? And will not you, O God, go out with our armies?

N'est-ce pas toi, ô Dieu, qui nous avais rejetés, qui ne sortais plus, ô Dieu, avec nos armées?

11 Grant us help from tribulation. For salvation from man is empty.

Donne-nous du secours pour sortir de détresse; car

12 In God, we will act virtuously. And those who trouble us, he will lead to nothing.

En Dieu nous combattrons avec vaillance, et c'est lui qui foulera nos adversaires.
