2 Kings 16
1 In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah, Ahaz the son of Jotham, king of Judah, began to reign.
La dix-septième année de Phacée, fils de Romélias, régna Achaz, fils de Joatham, roi de Juda.
2 Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. And he did not what was right in the sight of Jehovah his God, like David his father,
Achaz avait vingt ans lorsqu’il devint roi, et il régna seize ans à Jérusalem. Il ne fit pas ce qui est droit aux yeux de Yahweh, son Dieu, comme avait fait David, son père.
3 but walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and even caused his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the nations that Jehovah had dispossessed from before the children of Israel.
Mais il marcha dans la voie des rois d’Israël, et même il fit passer son fils par le feu, selon les abominations des nations que Yahweh avait chassées devant les enfants d’Israël.
4 And he sacrificed and burned incense on the high places, and on the hills, and under every green tree.
Il offrait des sacrifices et des parfums aux hauts lieux, sur les collines et sous tout arbre vert.
5 Then Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah son of Remaliah, the king of Israel, came up to Jerusalem to battle; and they besieged Ahaz, but were unable to conquer him.
Alors Rasin, roi de Syrie, et Phacée, fils de Romélias, roi d’Israël, montèrent contre Jérusalem pour l’attaquer. Ils assiégèrent Achaz, mais ils ne purent pas le vaincre.
6 At that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath to Syria, and drove the Jews from Elath; and the Syrians came to Elath, and dwelt there to this day.
Dans ce même temps, Rasin, roi de Syrie, ramena Elath au pouvoir des Syriens; il expulsa les Juifs d’Elath, et les Syriens vinrent à Elath, où ils ont habité jusqu’à ce jour.
7 And Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria, saying, I am thy servant and thy son: come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Syria, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, who have risen up against me.
Achaz envoya des messagers à Téglathphalasar, roi d’Assyrie, pour lui dire: « Je suis ton serviteur et ton fils; monte et délivre-moi de la main du roi de Syrie et de la main du roi d’Israël, qui se sont levés contre moi. »
8 And Ahaz took the silver and the gold that was found in the house of Jehovah, and in the treasures of the king's house, and sent it [as] a present to the king of Assyria.
Et Achaz prit l’argent et l’or qui se trouvaient dans la maison de Yahweh et dans les trésors de la maison du roi, et il l’envoya en présent au roi d’Assyrie.
9 And the king of Assyria hearkened to him; and the king of Assyria went up against Damascus, and took it, and carried it captive to Kir, and put Rezin to death.
Le roi d’Assyrie l’écouta, et le roi d’Assyrie monta contre Damas et, l’ayant prise, il en emmena les habitants en captivité à Qir, et il fit mourir Rasin.
10 And king Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria; and he saw the altar that was at Damascus, and king Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the form of the altar, and the pattern of it, according to all its workmanship.
Le roi Achaz se rendit à Damas au-devant de Téglathphalasar, roi d’Assyrie. Ayant vu l’autel qui était à Damas, le roi Achaz envoya au prêtre Urias le modèle de l’autel et sa forme selon tout son travail.
11 And Urijah the priest built an altar according to all that king Ahaz had sent from Damascus; thus Urijah the priest made [it], against king Ahaz came from Damascus.
Le prêtre Urias construisit l’autel; le prêtre Urias le fit entièrement d’après le modèle que le roi Achaz avait envoyé de Damas, avant que le roi ne revienne de Damas.
12 And when the king came from Damascus, the king saw the altar; and the king approached to the altar, and offered upon it.
A son arrivée de Damas, le roi vit l’autel. Le roi s’approcha de l’autel et il y monta;
13 And he burned his burnt-offering and his oblation, and poured out his drink-offering, and sprinkled the blood of his peace-offering upon the altar.
il fit brûler son holocauste et son oblation, versa sa libation, et répandit sur l’autel le sang de ses sacrifices pacifiques.
14 And the brazen altar which was before Jehovah, he brought forward from the forefront of the house, from between [his] altar and the house of Jehovah, and put it by the side of [his] altar on the north.
Il éloigna de devant la maison, d’entre le nouvel autel et la maison de Yahweh, l’autel d’airain qui était devant Yahweh, et il le plaça à côté du nouvel autel, vers le nord.
15 And king Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest saying, Upon the great altar burn the morning burnt-offering, and the evening oblation, and the king's burnt-offering, and his oblation, and the burnt-offering of all the people of the land, and their oblation, and their drink-offerings; and sprinkle upon it all the blood of the burnt-offerings, and all the blood of the sacrifices; and the brazen altar shall be for me to inquire [by].
le roi Achaz donna encore cet ordre au prêtre Urias: « Fais brûler sur le grand autel l’holocauste du matin et l’oblation du soir, l’holocauste du roi et son oblation, l’holocauste de tout le peuple du pays et leur oblation, verses-y leur libation et répands-y tout le sang des holocaustes et tout le sang des sacrifices. Pour ce qui concerne l’autel d’airain, il m’appartiendra d’y pourvoir. »
16 And Urijah the priest did according to all that king Ahaz had commanded.
Le prêtre Urias fit tout ce qu’avait ordonné le roi Achaz.
17 And king Ahaz cut off the panels of the bases, and removed the lavers from off them; and took down the sea from off the brazen oxen that were under it, and put it upon a stone pavement.
En outre, le roi Achaz brisa les cadres et les bases, et ôta les bassins qui étaient dessus; il descendit la mer d’airain de dessus les bœufs d’airain qui la supportaient, et il la posa sur un pavé de pierres;
18 And the covered way of the sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king's entry outside, he turned from the house of Jehovah on account of the king of Assyria.
il changea, dans la maison de Yahweh, par considération pour le roi d’Assyrie, le portique du sabbat, qu’on avait construit dans la maison, et l’entrée extérieure du roi.
19 And the rest of the acts of Ahaz, what he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
Le reste des actes d’Achaz, et tout ce qu’il a fait, cela n’est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda?
20 And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David; and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.
Achaz se coucha avec ses pères, et il fut enterré avec ses pères dans la cité de David. Ezéchias, son fils, régna à sa place.
