John 10
1 Verily, verily, I say to you, He that enters not in by the door to the fold of the sheep, but mounts up elsewhere, he is a thief and a robber;
«En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, celui qui n'entre pas par la porte dans la bergerie, mais qui l'escalade par un autre endroit, est un voleur et un brigand;
2 but he that enters in by the door is [the] shepherd of the sheep.
mais celui qui entre par la porte, est un berger des brebis.
3 To him the porter opens; and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name, and leads them out.
Le portier lui ouvre, et les brebis entendent sa voix; il appelle ses brebis par leur nom, et il les conduit dehors:
4 When he has put forth all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, because they know his voice.
dès qu'il a fait sortir toutes les siennes, il va devant elles, et les brebis le suivent, parce qu'elles connaissent sa voix.
5 But they will not follow a stranger, but will flee from him, because they know not the voice of strangers.
Elles ne suivront point un étranger, mais elles le fuiront, parce qu'elles ne connaissent point la voix des étrangers.»
6 This allegory spoke Jesus to them, but they did not know what it was [of] which he spoke to them.
Jésus leur fit cette allégorie, mais ils ne comprirent pas de quoi il leur parlait.
7 Jesus therefore said again to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep.
Jésus reprit et leur dit: «En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, je suis la porte des brebis:
8 All whoever came before me are thieves and robbers; but the sheep did not hear them.
tous ceux qui sont venus avant moi sont des voleurs et des brigands; mais les brebis ne les ont point écoutés.
9 I am the door: if any one enter in by me, he shall be saved, and shall go in and shall go out and shall find pasture.
Je suis la porte: si quelqu'un entre par moi, il sera sauvé; il entrera et il sortira, et il trouvera de la pâture.
10 The thief comes not but that he may steal, and kill, and destroy: I am come that they might have life, and might have [it] abundantly.
Le voleur ne vient que pour voler, pour égorger et pour détruire; moi, je suis venu pour que les brebis aient la vie, et qu'elles l'aient abondamment.
11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep:
Je suis le bon berger: le bon berger donne sa vie pour ses brebis;
12 but he who serves for wages, and who is not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, sees the wolf coming, and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf seizes them and scatters the sheep.
mais le mercenaire, qui n'est pas berger, à qui les brebis n'appartiennent pas en propre, ne voit pas plutôt venir le loup, qu'il abandonne les brebis, et s'enfuit: le loup les ravit, et disperse le troupeau.
13 Now he who serves for wages flees because he serves for wages, and is not himself concerned about the sheep.
Le mercenaire s'enfuit, parce qu'il est mercenaire, et qu'il n'a nul souci des brebis.
14 I am the good shepherd; and I know those that are mine, and am known of those that are mine,
Je suis le bon berger: je connais mes brebis et mes brebis me connaissent,
15 as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.
comme le Père me connaît et que je connais le Père; et je donne ma vie pour mes brebis.
16 And I have other sheep which are not of this fold: those also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one flock, one shepherd.
J'ai encore d'autres brebis, qui ne sont pas de cette bergerie; il faut aussi que je les conduise: elles entendront ma voix; et il y aura un seul troupeau, un seul berger.
17 On this account the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it again.
Mon Père m'aime, parce que je donne ma vie, afin de la reprendre;
18 No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have authority to lay it down and I have authority to take it again. I have received this commandment of my Father.
personne ne me l'ôte, mais je la donne de moi-même; j'ai le pouvoir de la donner, et j'ai le pouvoir de la reprendre: tel est l'ordre que j'ai reçu de mon Père.»
19 There was a division again among the Jews on account of these words;
Ces paroles provoquèrent une nouvelle division parmi les Juifs.
20 but many of them said, He has a demon and raves; why do ye hear him?
Un grand nombre d'entre eux disaient: «Il est possédé d'un démon, il déraisonne: pourquoi l'écoutez-vous?»
21 Others said, These sayings are not [those] of one that is possessed by a demon. Can a demon open blind people's eyes?
D'autres disaient: «Ces paroles ne sont point celles d'un possédé: est-ce qu'un démon peut ouvrir les yeux des aveugles?»
22 Now the feast of the dedication was celebrating at Jerusalem, and it was winter.
Or, on célébrait à Jérusalem la fête de la Dédicace: c'était l'hiver;
23 And Jesus walked in the temple in the porch of Solomon.
et Jésus se promenait dans le temple, sous le portique de Salomon.
24 The Jews therefore surrounded him, and said to him, Until when dost thou hold our soul in suspense? If thou art the Christ, say [so] to us openly.
Les Juifs l'entourèrent donc, et lui dirent: «Jusques à quand nous tiendras-tu l'esprit en suspens? Si tu es le Messie, dis-le nous franchement.»
25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye do not believe. The works which I do in my Father's name, these bear witness concerning me:
Jésus leur répondit: «Je vous l'ai dit, et vous ne le croyez pas: les oeuvres que je fais au nom de mon Père, rendent témoignage de moi;
26 but ye do not believe, for ye are not of my sheep, as I told you.
mais vous ne croyez point, parce que vous n'êtes pus de mes brebis,
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me;
comme je vous l'ai dit. Mes brebis entendent ma voix; je les connais, et elles me suivent;
29 My Father who has given [them] to me is greater than all, and no one can seize out of the hand of my Father.
Mon Père, qui me les a données, est plus grand que tous; et personne ne peut les ravir de la main de mon Père.
30 I and the Father are one.
Le Père et moi, nous ne faisons qu'un.»
31 The Jews therefore again took stones that they might stone him.
Là-dessus, les Juifs ramassèrent de nouveau des pierres pour le lapider.
32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewn you of my Father; for which work of them do ye stone me?
Jésus leur dit: «J'ai fait sous vos yeux plusieurs bonnes oeuvres, par la puissance de mon Père; pour laquelle me lapidez-vous?»
33 The Jews answered him, For a good work we stone thee not, but for blasphemy, and because thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
Les Juifs lui répondirent: «Ce n'est point pour une bonne oeuvre que nous te lapidons, mais pour un blasphème, et parce qu'étant homme, tu te fais dieu.»
34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
Jésus leur repartit: «N'est-il pas écrit dans votre Loi: «J'ai dit: Vous êtes des dieux?»
35 If he called them gods to whom the word of God came (and the scripture cannot be broken),
Si donc la Loi appelle «dieux» ceux à qui la parole de Dieu a été adressée, et si l'Écriture ne peut être rejetée,
36 do ye say of him whom the Father has sanctified and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest, because I said, I am Son of God?
comment pouvez-vous dire à celui que le Père a consacré et qu'il a envoyé dans le monde, «tu blasphèmes, » parce que j'ai dit: «Je suis le Fils de Dieu?»
37 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not;
Si je ne fais pas les oeuvres de mon Père, ne me croyez pas;
38 but if I do, even if ye believe not me, believe the works, that ye may know [and believe] that the Father is in me and I in him.
mais si je les fais, quand même vous ne me croiriez pas, croyez-en mes oeuvres; reconnaissez et sachez que le Père est en moi, et que je suis dans le Père.»
39 They sought therefore again to take him; and he went away from out of their hand
Alors les Juifs cherchèrent de nouveau à se saisir de lui; mais il s 'échappa de leurs mains,
40 and departed again beyond the Jordan to the place where John was baptising at the first: and he abode there.
et s'en retourna au delà du Jourdain, dans le lieu où Jean avait baptisé tout d'abord, et il y demeura.
41 And many came to him, and said, John did no sign; but all things which John said of this [man] were true.
Bien des gens venaient vers lui, et disaient: «Jean n'a point fait de miracles, mais tout ce qu'il a dit de celui-ci est vrai.»
42 And many believed on him there.
Et il y eu eut là beaucoup qui crurent en lui.
