Genesis 41
1 After two years Pharao had a dream. He thought he stood by the river,
Y aconteció que pasados dos años Faraón soñó. Parecíale que estaba junto al río,
2 Out of which came up seven kine, very beautiful and fat: and they fed in marshy places.
Y que del río subían siete vacas, hermosas de vista, y gruesas de carne: que pacían en el prado:
3 Other seven also came up out of the river, ill favoured, and leanfleshed: and they fed on the very bank of the river, in green places:
Y que otras siete vacas subían tras ellas del río, feas de vista, y magras de carne, y que se paraban cerca de las vacas hermosas a la orilla del río:
4 And they devoured them, whose bodies were very beautiful and well conditioned. So Pharao awoke.
Y que las vacas, feas de vista y magras de carne, tragaban a las siete vacas, hermosas de vista y gruesas. Y despertó Faraón.
5 He slept again, and dreamed another dream: Seven ears of corn came up upon one stalk full and fair:
Y durmióse, y soñó la segunda vez: Que siete espigas llenas y hermosas subían de una caña:
6 Then seven other ears sprung up thin and blasted,
Y que otras siete espigas menudas y abatidas del solano salían después de ellas:
7 And devoured all the beauty of the former. Pharao awaked after his rest:
Y que las siete espigas menudas tragaban a las siete espigas gruesas y llenas. Y despertóse Faraón, y he aquí que era sueño.
8 And when morning was come, being struck with fear, he sent to all the interpreters of Egypt, and to all the wise men: and they being called for, he told them his dream, and there was not any one that could interpret it.
Y acaeció que a la mañana su espíritu se atormentó y envió, e hizo llamar a todos los magos de Egipto, y a todos sus sabios; y contóles Faraón sus sueños; y no había quien los declarase a Faraón.
9 Then at length the chief butler remembering, said: I confess my sin:
Entonces el príncipe de los maestresalas habló a Faraón, diciendo: De mis pecados me acuerdo hoy:
10 The king being angry with his servants, commanded me and the chief baker to be cast into the prison of the captain of the soldiers:
Faraón se enojó contra sus siervos; y a mí me echó en la cárcel de la casa del capitán de los de la guardia, a mí y al príncipe de los panaderos.
11 Where in one night both of us dreamed a dream foreboding things to come.
Y yo y él soñámos sueño una misma noche, cada uno conforme a la declaración de su sueño, soñámos.
12 There was there a young man a Hebrew, servant to the same captain of the soldiers: to whom we told our dreams,
Y allí con nosotros estaba un mozo Hebreo, siervo del capitán de los de la guardia: y contámoselo, y él nos declaró nuestros sueños, y declaró a cada uno conforme a su sueño:
13 And we heard what afterwards the event of the thing proved to be so. For I was restored to my office: and he was hanged upon a gibbet.
Y aconteció que como él nos declaró, así fue: a mí me hizo volver a mi asiento; y al otro hizo colgar.
14 Forthwith at the king’s command, Joseph was brought out of the prison, and they shaved him, and changing his apparel, brought him in to him.
Entonces Faraón envió, y llamó a José, e hiciéronle salir corriendo de la cárcel: y trasquiláronle, y mudáronle sus vestidos; y vino a Faraón.
15 And he said to him: I have dreamed dreams, and there is no one that can expound them: Now I have heard that thou art very wise at interpreting them.
Y Faraón dijo a José: Yo he soñado sueño, y no hay quien lo declare: y yo he oído decir de ti, que oyes sueños para declararlos.
16 Joseph answered: Without me, God shall give Pharao a prosperous answer.
Y José respondió a Faraón, diciendo: Sin mí, Dios responda paz a Faraón.
17 So Pharao told what he had dreamed: Methought I stood upon the bank of the river,
Entonces Faraón dijo a José: En mi sueño parecíame que estaba a la orilla del río:
18 And seven kine came up out of the river exceeding beautiful and full of flesh: and they grazed on green places in a marshy pasture.
Y que del río subían siete vacas gruesas de carne, y hermosas de forma, que pacían en el prado:
19 And behold, there followed these, other seven kine, so very ill favoured and lean, that I never saw the like in the land of Egypt:
Y que otras siete vacas subían después de ellas, magras y feas de forma mucho, y flacas de carne: no he visto otras semejantes en toda la tierra de Egipto en fealdad:
20 And they devoured and consumed the former,
Y que las vacas flacas y feas tragaban a las siete vacas primeras gruesas:
21 And yet gave no mark of their being full: but were as lean and ill favoured as before. I awoke, and then fell asleep again,
Y que entraban en sus entrañas, y no se conocía que hubiesen entrado en sus entrañas; porque el parecer de ellas era aun malo, como de primero; y desperté.
22 And dreamed a dream: Seven ears of corn grew upon one stalk, full and very fair.
Ví también soñando, que siete espigas subían en una caña llenas y hermosas:
23 Other seven also thin and blasted, sprung of the stock:
Y que otras siete espigas menudas, secas, abatidas del solano subían después de ellas:
24 And they devoured the beauty of the former: I told this dream to the conjecturers, and there is no man that can expound it.
Y que las espigas menudas tragaban a las siete espigas hermosas; y lo he dicho a los magos, y no hay quien me lo declare.
25 Joseph answered: The king’s dream is one: God hath shewn to Pharao what he is about to do.
Entonces José respondió a Faraón: El sueño de Faraón es un mismo. Dios ha mostrado a Faraón lo que él hace:
26 The seven beautiful kine, and the seven full ears, are seven years of plenty: and both contain the same meaning of the dream.
Las siete vacas hermosas siete años son; y las espigas hermosas son siete años: el sueño es un mismo.
27 And the seven lean and thin kine that came up after them, and the seven thin ears that were blasted with the burning wind, are seven years of famine to come:
Y las siete vacas magras y feas, que subían tras ellas, siete años son; y las siete espigas menudas y secas del solano, siete años serán de hambre.
28 Which shall be fulfilled in this order:
Esto es lo que yo respondo a Faraón: Lo que Dios hace, ha mostrado a Faraón.
29 Behold, there shall come seven years of great plenty in the whole land of Egypt:
He aquí, siete años vienen de grande hartura en toda la tierra de Egipto.
30 After which shall follow other seven years of so great scarcity, that all the abundance before shall be forgotten: for the famine shall consume all the land,
Y levantarse han tras ellos siete años de hambre, que toda la hartura será olvidada en la tierra de Egipto; y la hambre consumirá la tierra.
31 And the greatness of the scarcity shall destroy the greatness of the plenty.
Y aquella abundancia no será conocida a causa de la hambre de después; la cual será gravísima.
32 And for that thou didst see the second time a dream pertaining to the same thing: it is a token of the certainty, and that the word of God cometh to pass, and is fulfilled speedily.
Y en segundar el sueño a Faraón dos veces significa que la cosa es firme de parte de Dios, y que Dios se apresura a hacerla.
33 Now therefore let the king provide a wise and industrious man, and make him ruler over the land of Egypt:
Por tanto ahora provea Faraón a algún varón prudente y sabio, y póngale sobre la tierra de Egipto:
34 That he may appoint overseers over all the countries: and gather into barns the fifth part of the fruits, during the seven fruitful years,
Haga Faraón, y ponga gobernadores sobre la provincia; y quinte la tierra de Egipto en los siete años de la hartura;
35 That shall now presently ensue: and let all the corn be laid up under Pharao’s hands and be reserved in the cities.
Y junten toda la provisión de estos buenos años que vienen; y alleguen el trigo debajo de la mano de Faraón para mantenimiento de las ciudades y guarden:
36 And let it be in readiness, against the famine of seven years to come, which shall oppress Egypt, and the land shall not be consumed with scarcity.
Y esté aquel mantenimiento en depósito para la tierra para los siete años de la hambre, que serán en la tierra de Egipto, y la tierra no perecerá de hambre.
37 The counsel pleased Pharao and all his servants.
Y el negocio pareció bien a Faraón, y a sus siervos.
38 And he said to them: Can we find such another man, that is full of the spirit of God?
Y dijo Faraón a sus siervos: ¿Hemos de hallar otro hombre como este, en quien haya Espíritu de Dios?
39 He said therefore to Joseph: Seeing God hath shewn thee all that thou hast said, can I find one wiser and one like unto thee?
Y dijo Faraón a José: Pues que Dios te ha hecho saber todo esto, no hay entendido ni sabio como tú.
40 Thou shalt be over my house, and at the commandment of thy mouth all the people shall obey: only in the kingly throne will I be above thee.
Tú serás sobre mi casa; y por tu dicho se gobernará todo mi pueblo: solamente en la silla seré yo mayor que tú.
41 And again Pharao said to Joseph: Behold, I have appointed thee over the whole land of Egypt.
Dijo más Faraón a José: He aquí, yo te he puesto sobre toda la tierra de Egipto.
42 And he took his ring from his own hand, and gave it into his hand: and he put upon him a robe of silk, and put a chain of gold about his neck.
Entonces Faraón quitó su anillo de su mano, y púsolo en la mano de José; e hízole vestir de ropas de lino finísimo; y puso un collar de oro en su cuello;
43 And he made him go up into his second chariot, the crier proclaiming that all should bow their knee before him, and that they should know he was made governor over the whole land of Egypt.
E hízole subir en su segundo carro, y pregonaron delante de él Abrec; y púsole sobre toda la tierra de Egipto.
44 And the king said to Joseph: I am Pharao; without thy commandment no man shall move hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.
Y dijo Faraón a José: Yo Faraón: y sin ti ninguno alzará su mano ni su pie en toda la tierra de Egipto.
45 And he turned his name, and called him in the Egyptian tongue, The saviour of the world. And he gave him to wife Aseneth the daughter of Putiphare priest of Heliopolis. Then Joseph went out to the land of Egypt:
Y llamó Faraón el nombre de José, Safenat-paneat: y dióle por mujer a Asenet, hija de Potifera, príncipe de On. Y salió José por la tierra de Egipto.
46 (Now he was thirty years old when he stood before king Pharao) and he went round all the countries of Egypt.
Y José era de edad de treinta años, cuando fue presentado delante de Faraón, rey de Egipto: y salió José de delante de Faraón, y pasó por toda la tierra de Egipto.
47 And the fruitfulness of the seven years came: and the corn being bound up into sheaves was gathered together into the barns of Egypt.
E hizo la tierra aquellos siete años de la hartura a montones.
48 And all the abundance of grain was laid up in every city.
Y juntó todo el mantenimiento de los siete años que fueron en la tierra de Egipto; y dio mantenimiento en las ciudades, poniendo en cada ciudad el mantenimiento del campo de sus al rededores.
49 And there was so great abundance of wheat, that it was equal to the sand of the sea, and the plenty exceeded measure.
Y juntó José trigo como arena de la mar, mucho en gran manera, hasta no poderse contar, porque no tenía número.
50 And before the famine came, Joseph had two sons born: whom Aseneth the daughter of Putiphare priest of Heliopolis bore unto him.
Y nacieron a José dos hijos antes que viniese el año de la hambre: los cuales le parió Asenet, hija de Potifera, príncipe de On.
51 And he called the name of the firstborn Manasses, saying: God hath made me to forget all my labours, and my father’s house.
Y llamó José el nombre del primogénito, Manasés: Porque, dice, me hizo olvidar Dios de todo mi trabajo, y de toda la casa de mi padre.
52 And he named the second Ephraim, saying: God hath made me to grow in the land of my poverty.
Y el nombre del segundo llamó Efraím: Porque, dice, crecer me hizo Dios en la tierra de mi aflicción.
53 Now when the seven years of the plenty that had been in Egypt were past:
Y cumpliéronse los siete años de la hartura, que fue en la tierra de Egipto.
54 The seven years of scarcity, which Joseph had foretold, began to come: and the famine prevailed in the whole world, but there was bread in all the land of Egypt.
Y comenzaron a venir los siete años de la hambre, como José había dicho: y hubo hambre en todas las provincias, y en toda la tierra de Egipto había pan.
55 And when there also they began to be famished, the people cried to Pharao for food. And he said to them: Go to Joseph: and do all that he shall say to you.
Y hubo hambre en toda la tierra de Egipto, y el pueblo clamó a Faraón por pan. Y dijo Faraón a todo Egipto: Andád a José; lo que él os dijere haréis.
56 And the famine increased daily in all the land: and Joseph opened all the barns, and sold to the Egyptians: for the famine had oppressed them also.
Y había hambre sobre toda la haz de la tierra. Entonces José abrió todo donde había, y vendió a los Egipcios: porque la hambre había crecido en la tierra de Egipto.
57 And all provinces came into Egypt, to buy food, and to seek some relief of their want.
Y toda la tierra venía a Egipto para comprar de José; porque por toda la tierra había crecido la hambre.
