Luke 19
1 And entering in, he walked through Jericho.
Il entra et traversa Jéricho.
2 And behold, there was a man named Zacheus, who was the chief of the publicans, and he was rich.
Il y avait là un homme nommé Zachée. C'était un grand collecteur d'impôts, et il était riche.
3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was, and he could not for the crowd, because he was low of stature.
Il cherchait à voir qui était Jésus, mais il ne pouvait pas à cause de la foule, car il était de petite taille.
4 And running before, he climbed up into a sycamore tree, that he might see him; for he was to pass that way.
Il courut donc en avant et grimpa sur un sycomore pour le voir, car il allait passer par là.
5 And when Jesus was come to the place, looking up, he saw him, and said to him: Zacheus, make haste and come down; for this day I must abide in thy house.
Lorsque Jésus arriva à cet endroit, il leva les yeux et le vit, et il lui dit: « Zachée, dépêche-toi de descendre, car aujourd'hui je dois rester chez toi. »
6 And he made haste and came down; and received him with joy.
Il se hâta, descendit et le reçut avec joie.
7 And when all saw it, they murmured, saying, that he was gone to be a guest with a man that was a sinner.
Quand ils le virent, ils murmurèrent tous, disant: « Il est entré pour loger chez un homme qui est un pécheur. »
8 But Zacheus standing, said to the Lord: Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have wronged any man of any thing, I restore him fourfold.
Zachée, debout, dit au Seigneur: « Voici, Seigneur, la moitié de mes biens, je la donne aux pauvres. Si j'ai exigé injustement quelque chose de quelqu'un, je lui rends quatre fois plus. »
9 Jesus said to him: This day is salvation come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.
Jésus lui dit: « Aujourd'hui, le salut est arrivé à cette maison, car lui aussi est fils d'Abraham.
10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
Car le Fils de l'homme est venu chercher et sauver ce qui était perdu. »
11 As they were hearing these things, he added and spoke a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately be manifested.
Comme ils entendaient ces choses, il poursuivit et raconta une parabole, parce qu'il était près de Jérusalem, et qu'ils supposaient que le Royaume de Dieu allait être révélé immédiatement.
12 He said therefore: A certain nobleman went into a far country, to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
Il dit donc: « Un certain noble s'en alla dans un pays lointain pour recevoir un royaume et s'en retourner.
13 And calling his ten servants, he gave them ten pounds, and said to them: Trade till I come.
Il appela dix de ses serviteurs, leur donna dix pièces de mina et leur dit: « Occupez-vous de vos affaires jusqu'à ce que je vienne.
14 But his citizens hated him: and they sent an embassage after him, saying: We will not have this man to reign over us.
Mais ses concitoyens le haïssaient et envoyèrent un émissaire à sa poursuite en disant: 'Nous ne voulons pas que cet homme règne sur nous.'
15 And it came to pass, that he returned, having received the kingdom: and he commanded his servants to be called, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.
« Lorsqu'il fut de retour, après avoir reçu le royaume, il ordonna que ces serviteurs, à qui il avait donné l'argent, soient appelés auprès de lui, afin qu'il sache ce qu'ils avaient gagné en faisant des affaires.
16 And the first came, saying: Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.
Le premier se présenta devant lui et dit: « Seigneur, ton mina a fait dix autres minas.
17 And he said to him: Well done, thou good servant, because thou hast been faithful in a little, thou shalt have power over ten cities.
Il lui dit: « C'est bien, bon serviteur. Parce que tu as été trouvé fidèle avec très peu de choses, tu auras autorité sur dix villes.
18 And the second came, saying: Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.
« Le second vint, disant: « Ton mina, Seigneur, a fait cinq minas ».
19 And he said to him: Be thou also over five cities.
Il lui dit: « Et toi, tu seras à la tête de cinq villes ».
20 And another came, saying: Lord, behold here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin;
Un autre vint, disant: « Seigneur, voici ta mina, que j'ai gardée dans un mouchoir,
21 For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up what thou didst not lay down, and thou reapest that which thou didst not sow.
car je te craignais, parce que tu es un homme exigeant. Tu ramasses ce que tu n'as pas déposé, et tu récoltes ce que tu n'as pas semé.
22 He saith to him: Out of thy own mouth I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up what I laid not down, and reaping that which I did not sow:
Il lui dit: « C'est de ta propre bouche que je te jugerai, méchant serviteur! Tu savais que je suis un homme exigeant, prenant ce que je n'ai pas déposé et récoltant ce que je n'ai pas semé.
23 And why then didst thou not give my money into the bank, that at my coming, I might have exacted it with usury?
Alors, pourquoi n'as-tu pas déposé mon argent à la banque, pour qu'à mon retour, j'en tire un intérêt?
24 And he said to them that stood by: Take the pound away from him, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.
Il dit à ceux qui se tenaient là: « Enlève-lui le mina et donne-le à celui qui a les dix minas.
25 And they said to him: Lord, he hath ten pounds.
Ils lui dirent: « Seigneur, il a dix mines!
26 But I say to you, that to every one that hath shall be given, and he shall abound: and from him that hath not, even that which he hath, shall be taken from him.
Car, je vous le dis, à quiconque a quelque chose, on donnera davantage; mais à celui qui n'a rien, on enlèvera même ce qu'il a.
27 But as for those my enemies, who would not have me reign over them, bring them hither, and kill them before me.
Mais amène ici ceux de mes ennemis qui n'ont pas voulu que je règne sur eux, et tue-les devant moi. »
28 And having said these things, he went before, going up to Jerusalem.
Ayant dit ces choses, il se mit en route, montant à Jérusalem.
29 And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethania, unto the mount called Olivet, he sent two of his disciples,
Lorsqu'il approcha de Bethsphage et de Béthanie, sur la montagne appelée des Oliviers, il envoya deux de ses disciples,
30 Saying: Go into the town which is over against you, at your entering into which you shall find the colt of an ass tied, on which no man ever hath sitten: loose him, and bring him hither.
en disant: « Allez de l'autre côté du village, où vous trouverez, en entrant, un ânon attaché, sur lequel personne ne s'est jamais assis. Détachez-le et amenez-le.
31 And if any man shall ask you: Why do you loose him? you shall say thus unto him: Because the Lord hath need of his service.
Si quelqu'un vous demande: « Pourquoi le détachez-vous? », dites-lui: « Le Seigneur en a besoin. »
32 And they that were sent, went their way, and found the colt standing, as he had said unto them.
Ceux qui avaient été envoyés s'en allèrent et trouvèrent les choses exactement comme il les avait dites.
33 And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said to them: Why loose you the colt?
Comme ils détachaient l'ânon, ses propriétaires leur dirent: « Pourquoi détachez-vous l'ânon? »
34 But they said: Because the Lord hath need of him.
Ils répondirent: « Le Seigneur en a besoin. »
35 And they brought him to Jesus. And casting their garments on the colt, they set Jesus thereon.
Puis ils l'amenèrent à Jésus. Ils jetèrent leurs manteaux sur l'ânon, et firent asseoir Jésus dessus.
36 And as he went, they spread their clothes underneath in the way.
Pendant qu'il allait, ils étendirent leurs manteaux sur la route.
37 And when he was now coming near the descent of mount Olivet, the whole multitude of his disciples began with joy to praise God with a loud voice, for all the mighty works they had seen,
Comme il approchait de la descente de la montagne des Oliviers, toute la multitude des disciples se mit à se réjouir et à louer Dieu à haute voix pour toutes les merveilles qu'ils avaient vues,
38 Saying: Blessed be the king who cometh in the name of the Lord, peace in heaven, and glory on high!
en disant: Béni soit le Roi qui vient au nom du Seigneur! Paix dans les cieux, et gloire au plus haut des cieux! »
39 And some of the Pharisees, from amongst the multitude, said to him: Master, rebuke thy disciples.
Quelques pharisiens de la foule lui dirent: « Maître, reprends tes disciples! »
40 To whom he said: I say to you, that if these shall hold their peace, the stones will cry out.
Il leur répondit: « Je vous le dis, si elles se taisaient, les pierres crieraient. »
41 And when he drew near, seeing the city, he wept over it, saying:
Lorsqu'il s'approcha, il vit la ville et il pleura sur elle,
42 If thou also hadst known, and that in this thy day, the things that are to thy peace; but now they are hidden from thy eyes.
en disant: « Si tu avais su aujourd'hui les choses qui appartiennent à ta paix! Mais maintenant, elles sont cachées à tes yeux.
43 For the days shall come upon thee, and thy enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and straiten thee on every side,
Car il viendra sur toi des jours où tes ennemis dresseront contre toi une barricade, t'entoureront, t'enserreront de toutes parts,
44 And beat thee flat to the ground, and thy children who are in thee: and they shall not leave in thee a stone upon a stone: because thou hast not known the time of thy visitation.
et te précipiteront par terre, toi et tes enfants qui sont en toi. Ils ne laisseront pas en toi une pierre sur l'autre, parce que tu n'as pas connu le moment de ton châtiment. »
45 And entering into the temple, he began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought.
Il entra dans le temple et se mit à chasser ceux qui y achetaient et vendaient,
46 Saying to them: It is written: My house is the house of prayer. But you have made it a den of thieves.
en leur disant: « Il est écrit: « Ma maison est une maison de prière", mais vous en avez fait une « caverne de voleurs ». »
47 And he was teaching daily in the temple. And the chief priests and the scribes and the rulers of the people sought to destroy him:
Il enseignait chaque jour dans le temple, mais les chefs des prêtres, les scribes et les principaux du peuple cherchaient à le faire périr.
48 And they found not what to do to him: for all the people were very attentive to hear him.
Ils ne trouvaient pas ce qu'ils pouvaient faire, car tout le peuple était attaché à chacune de ses paroles.
