1 Chronicles 21
1 And Satan stoode vp against Israel, and prouoked Dauid to nomber Israel.
Entonces Satán se levantó contra Israel, e incitó a David a hacer un censo de Israel.
2 Therefore Dauid said to Ioab, and to the rulers of the people, Go, and nomber Israel from Beer-sheba euen to Dan, and bring it to me, that I may knowe the nomber of them.
David dijo a Joab y a los jefes del ejército: Vayan, hagan un censo de Israel, desde Beerseba hasta Dan. Traíganme el resultado para que yo sepa el número de ellos.
3 And Ioab answered, The Lord increase his people an hundreth times so many as they be, O my lord the King: are they not all my lords seruats? wherefore doeth my lord require this thing? why should he be a cause of trespasse to Israel?
Joab respondió: Añada Yavé a su pueblo 100 veces más, rey ʼadón mío. ¿No son todos éstos esclavos de mi ʼadón? ¿Por qué mi ʼadón procura esto? Porque debe ser causa de culpa para Israel.
4 Neuerthelesse the Kings word preuailed against Ioab. And Ioab departed and went thorowe all Israel, and returned to Ierusalem.
Pero la palabra del rey prevaleció contra Joab, por lo cual Joab salió, recorrió todo Israel y regresó a Jerusalén.
5 And Ioab gaue the nomber and summe of the people vnto Dauid: and all Israel were eleuen hundreth thousande men that drewe sword: and Iudah was foure hundreth and seuentie thousande men that drewe sword.
Joab dio a David el total del censo de todo el ejército. En todo Israel había 1.100.000 hombres que sacaban espada, y en Judá, 470.000.
6 But the Leuites and Beniamin counted he not among them: for the Kings worde was abominable to Ioab.
Entre éstos los levitas no fueron contados ni los hijos de Benjamín, porque la orden del rey era repugnante para Joab.
7 And God was displeased with this thing: therefore he smote Israel.
Esto también desagradó a ʼElohim, e hirió a Israel.
8 Then Dauid saide vnto God, I haue sinned greatly, because I haue done this thing: but now, I beseech thee, remooue the iniquitie of thy seruant: for I haue done very foolishly.
Entonces David confesó a ʼElohim: Pequé gravemente al hacer esto. Pero ahora te ruego que quites la iniquidad de tu esclavo, porque obré muy neciamente.
9 And the Lord spake vnto Gad Dauids Seer, saying,
Yavé habló a Gad, vidente de David:
10 Goe and tell Dauid, saying, Thus saith the Lord, I offer thee three thinges: choose thee one of them, that I may doe it vnto thee.
Vé y habla a David: Yavé dice: Tres cosas te propongo. Escoge una de ellas, y Yo te la aplicaré.
11 So Gad came to Dauid, and sayde vnto him, Thus saith the Lord, Take to thee
Y Gad fue a David, y le dijo: Yavé dice:
12 Either three yeeres famine, or three moneths to be destroyed before thine aduersaries, and the sworde of thine enemies to take thee, or els the sworde of the Lord and pestilence in the lande three dayes, that the Angel of the Lord may destroy throughout all the coastes of Israel: nowe therefore aduise thee, what word I shall bring againe to him that sent me.
Escoge para ti: tres años de hambruna, o tres meses derrotado por tus enemigos y que la espada de tus adversarios te alcance, o tres días la espada de Yavé, es decir, la pestilencia en la tierra y que el Ángel de Yavé haga estragos en todo el territorio de Israel. Ahora pues, mira qué debo responder al que me envió.
13 And Dauid said vnto Gad, I am in a wonderfull strait. let me nowe fall into the hande of the Lord: for his mercies are exceeding great, and let me not fall into the hande of man.
David respondió a Gad: Estoy en gran angustia. Ruego que yo caiga en la mano de Yavé, porque sus misericordias son muy grandes, pero que no caiga en la mano del hombre.
14 So the Lord sent a pestilence in Israel, and there fell of Israel seuentie thousande men.
Así que Yavé envió una pestilencia a Israel, y murieron 70.000 hombres de Israel.
15 And God sent the Angel into Ierusalem to destroy it. And as he was destroying, the Lord behelde, and repented of the euill and sayde to the Angel that destroyed, It is nowe ynough, let thine hande cease. Then the Angel of the Lord stoode by the thresshing floore of Ornan the Iebusite.
ʼElohim envió al Ángel a Jerusalén para destruirla, pero cuando destruía, Yavé miró y sintió pesar por aquella calamidad. Dijo al Ángel que destruía: ¡Basta! ¡Detén tu mano! Y el Ángel de Yavé estaba junto a la era de Ornán jebuseo.
16 And Dauid lift vp his eyes, and sawe the Angel of the Lord stande betweene the earth and the heauen with his sworde drawen in his hand, and stretched out towarde Ierusalem. Then Dauid and the Elders of Israel, which were clothed in sacke, fell vpon their faces.
Al levantar David sus ojos, vio al Ángel de Yavé, quien estaba entre la tierra y el cielo, con una espada desenvainada en su mano, extendida sobre Jerusalén. Entonces David y los ancianos se postraron sobre sus rostros, cubiertos de tela áspera.
17 And Dauid said vnto God, Is it not I that commanded to nomber the people? It is euen I that haue sinned and haue committed euil, but these sheepe what haue they done? O Lord my God, I beseech thee, let thine hande be on me and on my fathers house, and not on thy people for their destruction.
David dijo a ʼElohim: ¿No soy yo quien ordenó contar el pueblo? Yo soy quien pecó y ciertamente obré mal. Pero estas ovejas, ¿qué hicieron? ¡Oh Yavé ʼElohim mío, levanta ahora tu mano contra mí y contra la casa de mi padre, pero no llegue la pestilencia sobre tu pueblo!
18 Then the Angel of the Lord commanded Gad to say to Dauid, that Dauid should goe vp, and set vp an altar vnto the Lord in the thresshing floore of Ornan the Iebusite.
Entonces el Ángel de Yavé ordenó a Gad que dijera a David que subiera y levantara un altar a Yavé en la era de Ornán jebuseo.
19 So Dauid went vp according to the saying of Gad, which he had spoken in the Name of the Lord.
David subió según la palabra que Gad le dijo en Nombre de Yavé.
20 And Ornan turned about, and sawe the Angel, and his foure sonnes, that were with him, hid them selues, and Ornan thresshed wheat.
Ornán trillaba trigo. Al voltearse Ornán vio al Ángel, por lo cual se escondieron sus cuatro hijos que estaban con él.
21 And as Dauid came to Ornan, Ornan looked and sawe Dauid, and went out of the thresshing floore, and bowed himselfe to Dauid with his face to the grounde.
Cuando David iba hacia Ornán, éste miró y vio a David. Al salir de la era se postró en tierra ante David.
22 And Dauid saide to Ornan, Giue me the place of thy thresshing floore, that I may builde an altar therein vnto the Lord: giue it me for sufficient money, that the plague may be stayed from the people.
Entonces David dijo a Ornán: Dame este lugar de la era para que edifique un altar a Yavé. Dámelo por su justo precio para que cese la mortandad en el pueblo.
23 Then Ornan saide vnto Dauid, Take it to thee, and let my lord the King do that which seemeth him good: loe, I giue thee bullockes for burnt offrings, and thresshing instruments for wood, and wheat for meate offring, I giue it all.
Ornán respondió a David: Tómala para ti, y que mi ʼadón el rey haga lo que le parezca bien. Aun los becerros daré para el holocausto, los trillos para leña y trigo para la ofrenda. Yo lo doy todo.
24 And King Dauid saide to Ornan, Not so: but I will bye it for sufficient money: for I wil not take that which is thine for the Lord, nor offer burnt offrings without cost.
Pero el rey David dijo a Ornán: No, sino lo compraré por su justo precio, porque no tomaré para Yavé lo que es tuyo. No ofreceré holocausto que nada me cueste.
25 So Dauid gaue to Ornan for that place sixe hundreth shekels of golde by weight.
David pagó a Ornán por aquel lugar el peso de 6,6 kilogramos de oro.
26 And Dauid built there an altar vnto the Lord, and offred burnt offrings, and peace offrings, and called vpon the Lord, and he answered him by fire from heauen vpon the altar of burnt offring.
David edificó allí un altar a Yavé en el cual ofreció holocaustos y ofrendas de paz. Invocó a Yavé, Quien le respondió por medio de fuego desde el cielo sobre el altar del holocausto.
27 And when the Lord had spoken to the Angel, he put vp his sworde againe into his sheath.
Yavé dio orden al Ángel, y Éste envainó su espada.
28 At that time when Dauid sawe that the Lord had heard him in the thresshing floore of Ornan the Iebusite, then he sacrificed there.
Al ver David que Yavé lo escuchó en la era de Ornán jebuseo, ofreció sacrificios allí.
29 (But the Tabernacle of the Lord which Moses had made in the wildernesse, and the altar of burnt offring were at that season in the hie place at Gibeon.
El Tabernáculo de Yavé que Moisés hizo en el desierto estaba en el lugar alto de Gabaón, y [dentro de él] estaba el altar del holocausto.
30 And Dauid could not go before it to aske counsel at God: for he was afraide of the sworde of the Angel of the Lord.)
Pero David no pudo ir allá a consultar a ʼElohim, porque estaba aterrorizado a causa de la espada del Ángel de Yavé.
