2 Kings 7
1 Then Elisha saide, Heare ye the worde of the Lord: thus saith the Lord, To morowe this time a measure of fine floure shalbe solde for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel in the gate of Samaria.
Elisée dit: « Ecoutez la parole de Yahweh: Ainsi dit Yahweh: Demain, à cette heure, on aura une mesure de fleur de farine pour un sicle, et deux mesures d'orge pour un sicle, à la porte de Samarie. »
2 Then a prince, on whose hande the King leaned, answered the man of God, and saide, Though the Lord would make windowes in the heauen, could this thing come to passe? And he said, Beholde, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not eate thereof.
L'officier sur la main duquel s'appuyait le roi répondit à l'homme de Dieu et dit: « Quand Yahweh ferait des fenêtres au ciel, cela pourrait-il arriver? » Elisée dit: « Voici que tu le verras de tes yeux, mais tu n'en mangeras point. »
3 Nowe there were foure leprous men at the entring in of the gate: and they saide one to an other, Why sitte we here vntill we die?
Il y avait à l'entrée de la porte quatre lépreux, qui se dirent l'un à l'autre: « Pourquoi resterions-nous ici jusqu'à ce que nous mourrions?
4 If we say, We will enter into the citie, the famine is in the citie, and we shall die there: and if we sit here, we dye also. Nowe therefore come, and let vs fall into the campe of the Aramites: if they saue our liues, we shall liue: and if they kill vs, we are but dead.
Si nous prenons le parti d'entrer dans la ville, la famine est dans la ville, et nous y mourrons; si nous restons ici, nous mourrons également. Venez donc et jetons-nous dans le camp des Syriens; s'ils nous laissent la vie, nous vivrons, et s'ils nous font mourir, nous mourrons. »
5 So they rose vp in the twilight, to goe to the campe of the Aramites: and when they were come to the vtmost part of the campe of the Aramites, loe, there was no man there.
Ils se levèrent au crépuscule pour se rendre au camp des Syriens, et ils arrivèrent à l'entrée du camp des Syriens, et voici qu'il n'y avait personne.
6 For the Lord had caused the campe of the Aramites to heare a noyse of charets and a noise of horses, and a noise of a great armie, so that they sayde one to another, Beholde, the King of Israel hath hired against vs the Kings of the Hittites, and the Kings of the Egyptians to come vpon vs.
Le Seigneur avait fait entendre dans le camp des Syriens un bruit de chars et un bruit de chevaux, le bruit d'une grande armée, et ils s'étaient dit l'un à l'autre: « Voici que le roi d'Israël a pris à sa solde contre nous les rois des Héthéens et les rois des Egyptiens pour venir nous attaquer ».
7 Wherefore they arose, and fled in the twilight, and left their tentes and their horses, and their asses, euen the campe as it was, and fledde for their liues.
Et, se levant, ils avaient pris la fuite au crépuscule, abandonnant leurs tentes, leurs chevaux et leurs ânes, le camp tel qu'il était, et ils s'étaient enfuis pour sauver leur vie.
8 And when these lepers came to the vtmost part of the campe, they entred into one tent, and did eate and drinke, and caryed thence siluer and golde, and raiment, and went and hid it: after they returned, and entred into another tent, and caryed thence also, and went and hid it.
Les lépreux, arrivés à l'entrée du camp, pénétrèrent dans une tente, et, après avoir bu et mangé, ils en emportèrent de l'argent, de l'or et des vêtements qu'ils allèrent cacher. Ils revinrent, pénétrèrent dans une autre tente et en emportèrent des objets qu'ils allèrent cacher de la même manière.
9 Then saide one to another, We doe not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we holde our peace. if we tary till day light, some mischiefe will come vpon vs. Nowe therefore, come, let vs goe, and tell the Kings housholde.
Alors ils se dirent l'un à l'autre: « Nous n'agissons pas bien. Ce jour est un jour de bonne nouvelle; si nous gardons le silence et si nous attendons jusqu'à la lumière du matin, nous trouverons le châtiment. Venez donc et allons informer la maison du roi. »
10 So they came, and called vnto the porters of the citie, and tolde them, saying, We came to the campe of the Aramites, and loe, there was no man there, neither voyce of man, but horses tyed and asses tyed: and the tents are as they were.
Ils partirent et, ayant appelé les gardes de la porte de la ville, ils leur firent ce rapport: « Nous sommes entrés dans le camp des Syriens, et voici qu'il n'y a personne, ni aucune voix d'homme; il n'y a que des chevaux attachés, des ânes attachés, et les tentes comme elles étaient. »
11 And the porters cryed and declared to the Kings house within.
Les gardes de la porte poussèrent des cris et portèrent la nouvelle à l'intérieur de la maison du roi.
12 Then the King arose in the night, and saide vnto his seruants, I wil shew you now, what the Aramites haue done vnto vs. They know that we are affamished, therefore they are gone out of the campe to hide them selues in the fielde, saying, When they come out of the citie, we shall catch them aliue, and get into the citie.
Le roi se leva de nuit, et il dit à ses serviteurs: « Je veux vous apprendre ce que nous font les Syriens. Sachant que nous sommes affamés, ils ont quitté leur camp pour se cacher dans les champs, et ils se sont dit: Quand ils sortiront de la ville, nous les saisirons vivants, et nous entrerons dans la ville. »
13 And one of his seruants answered, and said, Let me take now fiue of the horses that remaine, and are left in the citie, (behold, they are euen as all the multitude of Israel that are left therein: beholde, I say, they are as the multitude of the Israelites that are consumed) and we wil send to see.
L'un de ses serviteurs prit la parole et dit: « Que l'on prenne cinq des chevaux survivants qui restent encore dans la ville, — voici qu'ils sont comme toute la multitude d'Israël qui y est restée, voici qu'ils sont comme toute la multitude d'Israël qui se meurt, — et nous enverrons voir. »
14 So they tooke two charets of horses, and the King sent after the hoste of the Aramites, saying, Goe and see.
On prit deux chars avec les chevaux, et le roi envoya des hommes sur les traces de l'armée des Syriens, en disant: « Allez et voyez. »
15 And they went after them vnto Iorden, and loe, all the way was full of clothes and vessels which the Aramites had cast from them in their hast: and the messengers returned, and told ye King.
Ils Allèrent après eux jusqu'au Jourdain, et voici que toute la route était couverte de vêtements et d'objets que les Syriens avaient jetés, dans leur précipitation. A leur retour, les messagers rapportèrent tout au roi.
16 Then the people went out and spoyled the campe of the Aramites: so a measure of fine floure was at a shekel, and two measures of barley at a shekel according to the word of the Lord.
Aussitôt le peuple sortit et pilla le camp des Syriens, et l'on eut une mesure de fleur de farine pour un sicle, et deux mesures d'orge pour un sicle, selon la parole de Yahweh.
17 And the King gaue the prince (on whose hande he leaned) the charge of the gate, and the people trode vpon him in the gate, and he dyed, as the man of God had saide, which spake it, when the King came downe to him.
Le roi avait confié la garde de la porte à l'officier sur la main duquel il s'appuyait; mais cet officier y fut foulé aux pieds par le peuple, et il mourut, selon la parole qu'avait dite l'homme de Dieu quand le roi était descendu vers lui.
18 And it came to passe, as the man of God had spoken to the King, saying, Two measures of barley at a shekel, and a measure of fine floure shall be at a shekel, to morowe about this time in the gate of Samaria.
En effet, quand l'homme de Dieu avait parlé au roi en disant: « On aura deux mesures d'orge pour un sicle et une mesure de fleur de farine pour un sicle, demain, à cette heure, à la porte de Samarie, »
19 But the prince had answered the man of God, and saide, Though the Lord would make windowes in the heauen, coulde it come so to passe? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not eate thereof.
l'officier avait répondu à l'homme de Dieu et dit: « Quand Yahweh ferait des fenêtres au ciel, cela pourrait-il arriver? » Et Elisée avait dit: « Voici que tu le verras de tes yeux, mais tu n'en mangeras point. »
20 And so it came vnto him: for the people trode vpon him in the gate, and he dyed.
Et c'est ce qui lui arriva: le peuple le foula aux pieds à la porte, et il mourut.
