Isaiah 55
1 Ho, euery one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and ye that haue no siluer, come, bye and eate: come, I say, bye wine and milke without siluer and without money.
Ho! vous tous qui avez soif, venez aux eaux! et vous qui n'avez pas d'argent, venez, achetez et mangez! Venez, achetez sans argent et sans frais du vin et du lait.
2 Wherefore doe ye lay out siluer and not for bread? and your labour without being satisfied? hearken diligently vnto me, and eate that which is good, and let your soule delite in fatnes.
Pourquoi pesez-vous de l'argent pour ce qui n'est pas du pain, et vos gains pour ce qui ne rassasie pas? Écoutez, écoutez-moi et goûtez les biens, et que votre âme se restaure par des mets succulents!
3 Encline your eares, and come vnto me: heare, and your soule shall liue, and I will make an euerlasting couenant with you, euen the sure mercies of Dauid.
Prêtez l'oreille et venez à moi! écoutez, afin que votre âme vive! Je veux vous accorder une alliance éternelle, les grâces permanentes de David.
4 Beholde, I gaue him for a witnes to the people, for a prince and a master vnto the people.
Voici, je l'établis législateur des peuples, prince et ordonnateur des peuples.
5 Beholde, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and a nation that knew not thee, shall runne vnto thee, because of the Lord thy God, and the holy one of Israel: for hee hath glorified thee.
Voici, tu convieras un peuple que tu ne connais pas, et un peuple qui ne te connaît pas accourra près de toi, pour l'amour de l'Éternel ton Dieu, et à cause du Saint d'Israël, car Il te glorifie.
6 Seeke ye the Lord while he may be found: call ye vpon him while he is neere.
Cherchez l'Éternel, pendant qu'il se trouve, invoquez-le, tandis qu'il est près!
7 Let the wicked forsake his wayes, and the vnrighteous his owne imaginations, and returne vnto the Lord, and he wil haue mercy vpon him: and to our God, for hee is very ready to forgiue.
Que l'impie abandonne sa voie, et le méchant ses pensées, et qu'il vienne à l'Éternel qui aura pitié de lui, et à notre Dieu, car Il pardonne abondamment.
8 For my thoughtes are not your thoughts, neither are your wayes my wayes, sayth the Lord.
Car mes pensées ne sont pas vos pensées, et vos voies ne sont pas mes voies, dit l'Éternel.
9 For as ye heauens are higher then the earth, so are my wayes higher then your wayes, and my thoughtes aboue your thoughts.
Mais autant le ciel s'élève au-dessus de la terre, autant mes voies s'élèvent au-dessus de vos voies, et mes pensées au-dessus de vos pensées.
10 Surely as the raine commeth downe and the snow from heauen, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth and maketh it to bring forth and bud, that it may giue seede to the sower, and bread vnto him that eateth,
Car telles la pluie et la neige descendent du ciel, et n'y retournent pas, mais abreuvent la terre et la fécondent, et la font végéter, et donnent la semence au semeur, et du pain à celui qui mange;
11 So shall my worde be, that goeth out of my mouth: it shall not returne vnto me voyde, but it shall accomplish that which I will, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
telle est ma parole sortie de ma bouche; elle ne revient pas à moi sans effet, mais elle exécute ma volonté, et accomplit ce pour quoi je l'émets.
12 Therefore ye shall go out with ioy, and be led forth with peace: the mountaines and the hilles shall breake foorth before you into ioye, and all the trees of the fielde shall clap their handes.
Oui, vous partirez avec allégresse, et vous serez conduits en paix; les monts et les collines éclateront au-devant de vous en acclamations, et tous les arbres des campagnes applaudiront en battant des mains.
13 For thornes there shall grow firre trees: for nettles shall growe the myrrhe tree, and it shalbe to the Lord for a name, and for an euerlasting signe that shall not be taken away.
Au lieu de la ronce s'élèvera le cyprès, et au lieu de la bruyère croîtra le myrte; et ce sera pour l'Éternel une gloire et un monument éternel qu'on ne détruira pas.
