Isaiah 60
1 Arise, O Ierusalem: be bright, for thy light is come, and the glorie of the Lord is risen vpon thee.
Lève-toi, resplendis, car ta lumière est venue, et la gloire de l’Éternel s’est levée sur toi.
2 For beholde, darkenesse shall couer the earth, and grosse darkenesse the people: but the Lord shall arise vpon thee, and his glory shall be seene vpon thee.
Car voici, les ténèbres couvriront la terre, et l’obscurité profonde, les peuples; mais sur toi se lèvera l’Éternel, et sa gloire sera vue sur toi.
3 And the Gentiles shall walke in thy light, and Kings at the brightnesse of thy rising vp.
Et les nations marcheront à ta lumière, et les rois, à la splendeur de ton lever.
4 Lift vp thine eyes round about, and beholde: all these are gathered, and come to thee: thy sonnes shall come from farre, and thy daughters shalbe nourished at thy side.
Lève autour de toi tes yeux, et regarde: ils se rassemblent tous, ils viennent vers toi; tes fils viennent de loin, et tes filles sont portées sur les bras.
5 Then thou shalt see and shine: thine heart shall be astonied and enlarged, because the multitude of the sea shalbe conuerted vnto thee, and the riches of the Gentiles shall come vnto thee.
Alors tu verras, et tu seras rayonnante, et ton cœur frissonnera et s’élargira; car l’abondance de la mer se tournera vers toi, les richesses des nations viendront vers toi.
6 The multitude of camels shall couer thee: and the dromedaries of Midian and of Ephah: all they of Sheba shall come: they shall bring golde and incense, and shewe foorth the prayses of the Lord.
Une multitude de chameaux te couvrira, les dromadaires de Madian et d’Épha; tous ils viendront de Sheba; ils porteront de l’or et de l’encens, et annonceront avec joie les louanges de l’Éternel;
7 All the sheepe of Kedar shall be gathered vnto thee: the rammes of Nebaioth shall serue thee: they shall come vp to bee accepted vpon mine altar: and I will beautifie the house of my glorie.
tous les troupeaux de Kédar se rassembleront vers toi, les béliers de Nebaïoth te serviront; une offrande agréée, ils monteront sur mon autel; et j’ornerai la maison de ma magnificence.
8 Who are these that flee like a cloude, and as the doues to their windowes?
Qui sont ceux-ci, qui volent comme une nuée, et comme les colombes vers leurs colombiers?
9 Surely the yles shall waite for mee, and the shippes of Tarshish, as at the beginning, that they may bring thy sonnes from farre, and their siluer, and their golde with them, vnto the Name of the Lord thy God, and to the Holy one of Israel, because he hath glorified thee.
Car les îles s’attendront à moi, et les navires de Tarsis [viennent] les premiers, pour apporter tes fils de loin, leur argent et leur or avec eux, au nom de l’Éternel, ton Dieu, et au Saint d’Israël, car il t’a glorifiée.
10 And the sonnes of strangers shall builde vp thy walles, and their Kings shall minister vnto thee: for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my mercie I had compassion on thee.
Et les fils de l’étranger bâtiront tes murs, et leurs rois te serviront. Car dans ma colère je t’ai frappée, mais dans ma faveur j’ai eu compassion de toi.
11 Therefore thy gates shalbe open continually: neither day nor night shall they be shutte, that men may bring vnto thee the riches of the Gentiles, and that their Kings may be brought.
Et tes portes seront continuellement ouvertes (elles ne seront fermées ni de jour ni de nuit), pour que te soient apportées les richesses des nations, et pour que leurs rois te soient amenés.
12 For the nation and the kingdome, that will not serue thee, shall perish: and those nations shalbe vtterly destroyed.
Car la nation et le royaume qui ne te serviront pas périront, et ces nations seront entièrement désolées.
13 The glory of Lebanon shall come vnto thee, the firre tree, the elme and the boxe tree together, to beautifie the place of my Sanctuarie: for I will glorifie the place of my feete.
La gloire du Liban viendra vers toi, le cyprès, le pin, et le buis ensemble, pour orner le lieu de mon sanctuaire; et je rendrai glorieuse la place de mes pieds.
14 The sonnes also of them that afflicted thee, shall come and bowe vnto thee: and all they that despised thee, shall fall downe at the soles of thy feete: and they shall call thee, The citie of the Lord, Zion of the Holy one of Israel.
Et les fils de tes oppresseurs viendront se courber devant toi, et tous ceux qui t’ont méprisée se prosterneront à la plante de tes pieds, et t’appelleront la ville de l’Éternel, la Sion du Saint d’Israël.
15 Where as thou hast bene forsaken and hated: so that no man went by thee, I will make thee an eternall glorie, and a ioye from generation to generation.
Au lieu d’être abandonnée et haïe, de sorte que personne ne passait [par toi], je te mettrai en honneur à toujours, pour joie de génération en génération.
16 Thou shalt also sucke ye milke of the Gentiles, and shalt sucke the breastes of Kings: and thou shalt know, that I the Lord am thy Sauiour, and thy Redeemer, the mightie one of Iaakob.
Et tu suceras le lait des nations, et tu suceras les mamelles des rois; et tu sauras que moi je suis l’Éternel, ton sauveur, et ton rédempteur, le Puissant de Jacob.
17 For brasse will I bring golde, and for yron will I bring siluer, and for wood brasse, and for stones yron. I will also make thy gouernement peace, and thine exactours righteousnesse.
Au lieu d’airain je ferai venir de l’or, et au lieu de fer je ferai venir de l’argent, et au lieu de bois, de l’airain, et au lieu de pierres, du fer. Et je te donnerai pour gouvernants la paix, et pour magistrats, la justice.
18 Violence shall no more be heard of in thy land, neither desolation, nor destruction within thy borders: but thou shalt call saluation, thy walles, and praise, thy gates.
On n’entendra plus [parler] de violence dans ton pays, de dévastation et de ruine dans tes confins; mais tu appelleras tes murs Salut, et tes portes Louange.
19 Thou shalt haue no more sunne to shine by day, neither shall the brightnesse of the moone shine vnto thee: for the Lord shall be thine euerlasting light, and thy God, thy glorie.
Le soleil ne sera plus ta lumière, de jour, et la clarté de la lune ne t’éclairera plus; mais l’Éternel sera ta lumière à toujours, et ton Dieu, ta gloire.
20 Thy sunne shall neuer goe downe, neither shall thy moone be hid: for the Lord shalbe thine euerlasting light, and the dayes of thy sorowe shalbe ended.
Ton soleil ne se couchera plus, et ta lune ne se retirera pas; car l’Éternel sera ta lumière à toujours, et les jours de ton deuil seront finis.
21 Thy people also shalbe all righteous: they shall possesse the land for euer, the grasse of my planting shalbe the worke of mine handes, that I may be glorified.
Et ton peuple, – eux tous, seront justes; ils posséderont le pays pour toujours, rejeton que j’ai planté, l’œuvre de mes mains pour me glorifier.
22 A litle one shall become as a thousande, and a small one as a strong nation: I the Lord wil hasten it in due time.
Le petit deviendra mille, et le moindre, une nation forte. Moi, l’Éternel, je hâterai cela en son temps.
