2 Kings 7

1 And Elisha said: 'Hear ye the word of the LORD; thus saith the LORD: To-morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.'

Eliseo dijo: Escuchen la Palabra de Yavé: ¡Mañana a esta hora, una medida de flor de harina [se venderá] por 11 gramos de plata, y dos medidas de cebada por 11 gramos de plata en la puerta de Samaria!

2 Then the captain on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said: 'Behold, if the LORD should make windows in heaven, might this thing be?' And he said: 'Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.'

Entonces, el oficial sobre el cual se apoyaba el rey, respondió al varón de ʼElohim: Aun si Yavé abre ventanas en el cielo, ¿podría suceder esto? Y él respondió: Mira, tú lo mirarás con tus propios ojos, pero no comerás de ello.

3 Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate; and they said one to another: 'Why sit we here until we die?

Había cuatro leprosos en la entrada de la puerta. Se dijeron: ¿Por qué nos quedamos aquí hasta morir?

4 If we say: We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there; and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Arameans; if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.'

Si decidimos entrar en la ciudad, la hambruna está en ella y moriremos allí. Si nos quedamos aquí, también moriremos. Ahora pues, vayamos y pasemos al ejército de los sirios. Si nos dejan vivir, viviremos. Si nos matan, no haremos más que morir.

5 And they rose up in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Arameans; and when they were come to the outermost part of the camp of the Arameans, behold, there was no man there.

Se levantaron al alba para ir al campamento de los sirios. Cuando llegaron a la parte exterior del campamento de los sirios, nadie estaba allí.

6 For the Lord had made the host of the Arameans to hear a noise of chariots, and a noise of horses, even the noise of a great host; and they said one to another: 'Lo, the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us.'

Porque ʼAdonay produjo en el campamento de los sirios estruendo de carruajes, ruido de caballos y estrépito de un gran ejército. Cada uno dijo a su compañero: ¡Ciertamente el rey de Israel tomó a sueldo a los reyes de los hititas y a los de Egipto para que vengan contra nosotros!

7 Wherefore they arose and fled in the twilight, and left their tents, and their horses, and their asses, even the camp as it was, and fled for their life.

Por lo cual se levantaron, huyeron al llegar la noche y abandonaron sus tiendas, caballos y asnos. Dejaron el campamento tal como estaba y huyeron para salvar sus vidas.

8 And when these lepers came to the outermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and they came back, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it.

Cuando estos leprosos llegaron a la parte exterior del campamento, entraron en una tienda, comieron y bebieron. Sacaron de allí plata, oro y ropas, y fueron y los escondieron. Luego regresaron y entraron en otra tienda. También llevaron cosas de allí, fueron y las escondieron.

9 Then they said one to another: 'We do not well; this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace; if we tarry till the morning light, punishment will overtake us; now therefore come, let us go and tell the king's household.'

Después se dijeron el uno al otro: No es bueno lo que hacemos. Este es día de buenas noticias, pero nosotros callamos. Si nos quedamos hasta la mañana, nuestra iniquidad nos alcanzará. Vayamos, entremos e informemos en la casa del rey.

10 So they came and called unto the porters of the city; and they told them, saying. 'We came to the camp of the Arameans, and, behold, there was no man there, neither voice of man, but the horses tied, and the asses tied, and the tents as they were.'

Fueron y llamaron al centinela de la ciudad. Le informaron: Fuimos al campamento de los sirios. Ciertamente allí no hay hombre, ni alguna voz de hombre, sino caballos y asnos atados, y las tiendas intactas.

11 And the porters called, and they told it to the king's household within.

Entonces los centinelas gritaron y lo anunciaron en la casa real.

12 And the king arose in the night, and said unto his servants: 'I will now tell you what the Arameans have done to us. They know that we are hungry; therefore are they gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying: When they come out of the city, we shall take them alive, and get into the city.'

El rey se levantó de noche y dijo a sus esclavos: Ahora les diré lo que planearon los sirios: Saben que estamos hambrientos. Salieron del campamento para esconderse en el campo y dijeron: Cuando salgan de la ciudad, los agarraremos vivos y entraremos en la ciudad.

13 And one of his servants answered and said: 'Let some take, I pray thee, five of the horses that remain, which are left in the city — behold, they are as all the multitude of Israel that are left in it; behold, they are as all the multitude of Israel that are consumed — and let us send and see.'

Uno de sus esclavos dijo: [Deja que algunos hombres ]tomen cinco de los caballos que quedan y enviémoslos. Veamos, los [caballos] que quedan en ella van a correr la misma suerte que toda la multitud de israelitas que ya pereció.

14 They took therefore two chariots with horses; and the king sent after the host of the Arameans, saying: 'Go and see.'

Entonces tomaron dos carruajes con caballos. El rey los envió tras el ejército de los sirios y dijo: Vayan y vean.

15 And they went after them unto the Jordan; and, lo, all the way was full of garments and vessels, which the Arameans had cast away in their haste. And the messengers returned, and told the king.

Fueron tras ellos hasta el Jordán. Ciertamente, todo el camino estaba lleno de ropas y utensilios que los sirios dejaron en su apuro. Volvieron los mensajeros e informaron al rey.

16 And the people went out, and spoiled the camp of the Arameans. So a measure of fine flour was sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, according to the word of the LORD.

Entonces el pueblo salió y tomó el despojo del campamento de los sirios. Así, una medida de flor de harina o dos medidas de cebada fueron vendidas por 11 gramos de plata, según la Palabra de Yavé.

17 And the king appointed the captain on whose hand he leaned to have the charge of the gate; and the people trod upon him in the gate, and he died as the man of God had said, who spoke when the king came down to him.

El rey había colocado junto a la puerta al oficial en cuya mano se apoyaba. El pueblo lo pisoteó en la puerta, y murió, tal como habló el varón de ʼElohim quien habló cuando el rey bajaba hacia él.

18 And it came to pass, as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying: 'Two measures of barley for a shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a shekel, shall be to-morrow about this time in the gate of Samaria';

Sucedió como el varón de ʼElohim habló al rey: ¡Mañana a esta hora, una medida de flor de harina [se venderá] por 11 gramos de plata, y dos medidas de cebada por 11 gramos de plata en la puerta de Samaria!

19 and that captain answered the man of God, and said: 'Now, behold, if the LORD should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be?' and he said: 'Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof';

Y el oficial que respondió al varón de ʼElohim: Aun si Yavé abra ventanas en el cielo, ¿podría suceder esto? Y Eliseo respondió: Mira, tú lo verás con tus propios ojos, pero no comerás de ello,

20 it came to pass even so unto him; for the people trod upon him in the gate, and he died.

le sucedió así, pues el pueblo lo atropelló en la puerta, y murió.
