Numbers 30

1 And Moses spoke unto the heads of the tribes of the children of Israel, saying: This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded.

モーセはイスラエルの人々の部族のかしらたちに言った、「これは主が命じられた事である。

2 When a man voweth a vow unto the LORD, or sweareth an oath to bind his soul with a bond, he shall not break his word; he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.

もし人が主に誓願をかけ、またはその身に物断ちをしようと誓いをするならば、その言葉を破ってはならない。口で言ったとおりにすべて行わなければならない。

3 Also when a woman voweth a vow unto the LORD, and bindeth herself by a bond, being in her father's house, in her youth,

またもし女がまだ若く、父の家にいて、主に誓願をかけ、またはその身に物断ちをしようとする時、

4 and her father heareth her vow, or her bond wherewith she hath bound her soul, and her father holdeth his peace at her, then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand.

父が彼女の誓願、または彼女の身に断った物断ちのことを聞いて、彼女に何も言わないならば、彼女はすべて誓願を行い、またその身に断った物断ちをすべて守らなければならない。

5 But if her father disallow her in the day that he heareth, none of her vows, or of her bonds wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand; and the LORD will forgive her, because her father disallowed her.

しかし、彼女の父がそれを聞いた日に、それを承認しない時は、彼女はその誓願、またはその身に断った物断ちをすべてやめることができる。父が承認しないのであるから、主は彼女をゆるされるであろう。

6 And if she be married to a husband, while her vows are upon her, or the clear utterance of her lips, wherewith she hath bound her soul;

またもし夫のある身で、みずから誓願をかけ、またはその身に物断ちをしようと、軽々しく口で言った場合、

7 and her husband hear it, whatsoever day it be that he heareth it, and hold his peace at her; then her vows shall stand, and her bonds wherewith she hath bound her soul shall stand.

夫がそれを聞き、それを聞いた日に彼女に何も言わないならば、彼女はその誓願を行い、その身に断った物断ちを守らなければならない。

8 But if her husband disallow her in the day that he heareth it, then he shall make void her vow which is upon her, and the clear utterance of her lips, wherewith she hath bound her soul; and the LORD will forgive her.

しかし、もし夫がそれを聞いた日に、それを承認しないならば、夫はその女がかけた誓願、またはその身に物断ちをしようと、軽々しく口に言ったことをやめさせることができる。主はその女をゆるされるであろう。

9 But the vow of a widow, or of her that is divorced, even every thing wherewith she hath bound her soul, shall stand against her.

しかし、寡婦あるいは離縁された女の誓願、すべてその身に断った物断ちは、それを守らなければならない。

10 And if a woman vowed in her husband's house, or bound her soul by a bond with an oath,

もし女が夫の家で誓願をかけ、またはその身に物断ちをしようと誓った時、

11 and her husband heard it, and held his peace at her, and disallowed her not, then all her vows shall stand, and every bond wherewith she bound her soul shall stand.

夫がそれを聞いて、彼女に何も言わず、またそれに反対しないならば、その誓願はすべて行わなければならない。またその身に断った物断ちはすべて守らなければならない。

12 But if her husband make them null and void in the day that he heareth them, then whatsoever proceeded out of her lips, whether it were her vows, or the bond of her soul, shall not stand: her husband hath made them void; and the LORD will forgive her.

しかし、もし夫がそれを聞いた日にそれを認めないならば、彼女の誓願、または身の物断ちについて、彼女が口で言った事は、すべてやめることができる。夫がそれを認めなかったのだから、主はその女をゆるされるであろう。

13 Every vow, and every binding oath to afflict the soul, her husband may let it stand, or her husband may make it void.

すべての誓願およびすべてその身を悩ます物断ちの誓約は、夫がそれを守らせることができ、または夫がそれをやめさせることができる。

14 But if her husband altogether hold his peace at her from day to day, then he causeth all her vows to stand, or all her bonds, which are upon her; he hath let them stand, because he held his peace at her in the day that he heard them.

もし夫が彼女に何も言わずに日を送るならば、彼は妻がした誓願、または物断ちをすべて認めたのである。彼はそれを聞いた日に妻に何も言わなかったのだから、それを認めたのである。

15 But if he shall make them null and void after that he hath heard them, then he shall bear her iniquity.

しかし、もし夫がそれを聞き、あとになって、それを認めないならば、彼は妻の罪を負わなければならない」。

16 These are the statutes, which the LORD commanded Moses, between a man and his wife, between a father and his daughter, being in her youth, in her father's house.

これらは主がモーセに命じられた定めであって、夫と妻との間、および父とまだ若くて父の家にいる娘との間に関するものである。
