Psalms 96

1 O sing to the LORD a new song: sing to the LORD, all the earth.

Chantez à l'Éternel un cantique nouveau, chantez à l'Éternel, vous toutes les contrées!

2 Sing to the LORD, bless his name; show forth his salvation from day to day.

Chantez à l'Éternel, bénissez son nom, annoncez son salut de jour en jour!

3 Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people.

Racontez sa gloire parmi les nations, et ses merveilles parmi tous les peuples!

4 For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods.

Car Dieu est grand et digne d'une grande louange; Il est plus redoutable que tous les dieux;

5 For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.

car tous les dieux des peuples sont des idoles, et l'Éternel a fait les Cieux.

6 Honor and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.

Devant sa face c'est splendeur et majesté, gloire et magnificence, dans son Sanctuaire.

7 Give to the LORD, O you kindreds of the people, give to the LORD glory and strength.

Tribus des peuples, rendez à l'Éternel, rendez à l'Éternel l'honneur et la louange!

8 Give to the LORD the glory due to his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts.

Rendez à l'Éternel l'honneur dû à son nom! d Apportez des offrandes, et entrez dans ses parvis!

9 O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.

Adorez l'Éternel avec une pompe sainte! Tremblez devant lui, vous toutes les contrées!

10 Say among the heathen that the LORD reigns: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously.

Dites parmi les peuples: « L'Éternel règne; aussi le monde est ferme et ne chancelle point. Il juge les nations avec justice. »

11 Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fullness thereof.

Que les Cieux se réjouissent, et que la terre tressaille; que la mer s'émeuve avec tout ce qu'elle enserre;

12 Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice

que les campagnes s'égaient avec tout ce qui les couvre; qu'ainsi les arbres des forêts frémissent tous d'allégresse

13 Before the LORD: for he comes, for he comes to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.

au devant de l'Éternel! Car Il vient, car il vient pour juger la terre. Il jugera le monde avec justice, et les peuples, selon sa vérité.
