< Job 40 >

1 Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said,
Pea naʻe folofola pe ʻa Sihova kia Siope, ʻo pehē,
2 Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct [him]? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.
“Ko ia ʻoku ne fakakikihi ki he Māfimafi te ne akonaki ia? Ko ia ʻoku ne valokiʻi ʻae ʻOtua, tuku ke ne talia ia.”
3 Then Job answered the LORD, and said,
4 Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.
“Vakai kuo u kovi; ko e hā te u tali ʻaki koe? Te u ʻai hoku nima ki hoku ngutu.
5 Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.
Kuo u lea ʻo tuʻo taha ka ʻe ʻikai te u toe lea: ʻio, kuo tuʻo ua ka ʻe ʻikai te u toe lea atu.”
6 Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
Pea naʻe toki folofola ʻa Sihova kia Siope mei he ʻahiohio, ʻo pehē,
7 Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
“Ko eni, ke ke nonoʻo ho noʻotangavala ʻo taau mo e tangata: pea te u ʻeke kiate koe, pea ke fakahā mai kiate au.
8 Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?
Te ke fakataʻeʻaongaʻi ʻa ʻeku fakamaau foki? Te ke fakahalaia au, koeʻuhi ke ke māʻoniʻoni koe?
9 Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?
Kuo ke maʻu ʻae nima ʻo hangē ko e ʻOtua? Pe ʻoku ke faʻa mana koe ʻaki ʻae leʻo ʻo hangē ko ia?
10 Deck thyself now [with] majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.
“Ko eni, ke ke teuʻi koe ʻaki ʻae māfimafi mo e ngeia; mo ke kofuʻaki koe ʻae nāunau mo e toulekeleka.
11 Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one [that is] proud, and abase him.
Tufaki ke mamaʻo ʻae tuputāmaki ʻo ho houhau: pea vakai kiate kinautolu taki taha kotoa pē ʻoku laukau, ʻo fakavaivai ia.
12 Look on every one [that is] proud, [and] bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.
Vakai kiate ia kotoa pē ʻoku fielahi, pea ʻohifo ia ki lalo; pea molomoloki hifo ʻae kau angahala ʻi honau potu.
13 Hide them in the dust together; [and] bind their faces in secret.
Fakafufū ʻakinautolu fakataha ʻi he efu; pea nonoʻo honau mata ʻi he lilo.
14 Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.
Pea te u toki fakamoʻoni kiate koe, ʻe faʻa fakamoʻui koe ʻe ho nima toʻomataʻu ʻoʻou.
15 Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.
“Ko eni, ke ke vakai ki he Piʻimote, ʻaia kuo u ngaohi mo koe; ʻoku ne kai mohuku ʻo hangē ko e fanga pulu:
16 Lo now, his strength [is] in his loins, and his force [is] in the navel of his belly.
Vakai, ʻoku ʻi hono fasiʻatuʻa ʻa hono mālohi, mo ʻene mafai ʻoku ʻi he pito ʻo hono kete.
17 He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.
‌ʻOku ne ueʻi hono iku ʻo hangē ko e sita: ko e uoua ʻo hono tenga ʻoku fefihitaki fakataha.
18 His bones [are as] strong pieces of brass; his bones [are] like bars of iron.
Ko hono ngaahi hui ʻoku tatau mo e ngaahi konga palasa mālohi; ʻoku tatau hono ngaahi hui mo e ngaahi vaʻa ʻaione.
19 He [is] the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach [unto him].
Ko e lahi ia ʻoe ngaahi ngāue ʻae ʻOtua: ko ia naʻa ne ngaohi ia ʻoku ne faʻa fai ke fakaofi ʻene heletā kiate ia.
20 Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.
Ko e moʻoni, ʻoku tupu hake ʻi he ngaahi moʻunga ʻae meʻakai maʻana, ʻaia ʻoku fakavā ai ʻae ngaahi manu kotoa pē ʻoe ngoue.
21 He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.
‌ʻOku tokoto ia ʻi he lolo ʻakau malumalu, ʻi he lilolilo ʻoe kaho, mo e ngaahi ano.
22 The shady trees cover him [with] their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.
Ko e ngaahi ʻakau malumalu ʻoku ʻufiʻufi ia ʻaki honau ata; ʻoku tuʻu takatakai ʻiate ia ʻae ngaahi uilou ʻoe vaitafe.
23 Behold, he drinketh up a river, [and] hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.
24 He taketh it with his eyes: [his] nose pierceth through snares.
‌ʻOku ne maʻu ia ʻaki hono mata: ʻoku ne tuiʻi ʻae ngaahi tauhele ʻaki hono iku.
