Amos 4

1 Hear you this word, you heifers of the land of Basan that are in the mountain of Samaria, that oppress the poor, and trample on the needy, which say to their masters, Give us that we may drink.

Hører dette Ord, I Basans Køer, som ere paa Samarias Bjerg, I, som fortrykke de ringe og knuse de fattige, I, som sige til eders Herrer: Bærer hid, at vi kunne drikke!

2 The Lord swears by his holiness, that, behold, the days come upon you, when they shall take you with weapons, and fiery destroyers shall cast those with you into boiling caldrons.

Den Herre, Herre har svoret ved sin Hellighed: Se, de Dage komme over eder, da man skal drage eder op med Hager og de sidste af eder med Fiskekroge.

3 And you shall be brought forth naked in the presence of each other; and you shall be cast forth on the mountain Romman, says the Lord.

Og I skulle gaa ud igennem Murbruddene, hver lige frem for sig, og I skulle bortkaste Herligheden, siger Herren.

4 You went into Bethel, and sinned, and you multiplied sin at Galgala; and you brought your meat-offerings in the morning, [and] your tithes every third day.

Gaar til Bethel, og begaar Overtrædelser, til Gilgal — begaar mange Overtrædelser, og bringer hver Morgen eders Slagtoffer, hver tre Dage eders Tiender!

5 And they read the law without, and called for public professions: proclaim aloud that the children of Israel have loved these things, says the Lord.

Og antænder Lovprisningsoffer af det syrede, og udraaber frivillige Ofre, kundgører det! thi saadant elske I, Israels Børn, siger den Herre, Herre.

6 And I will give you dullness of teeth in all your cities, and lack of bread in all your places: yet you returned not to me, says the Lord.

Og dog har jeg givet eder rene Tænder i alle eders Stæder og Mangel paa Brød alle Vegne hos eder; men I vendte ikke om til mig, siger Herren.

7 Also I withheld from you the rain three months before the harvest: and I will rain upon one city, and on another city I will not rain: one part shall be rained upon, and the part on which I shall not rain shall be dried up.

Og jeg har ogsaa tilbageholdt Regnen for eder, da der endnu var tre Maaneder til Høsten, og jeg lod regne over een Stad, men over en anden lod jeg ikke regne: En Ager fik Regn, og en anden Ager, som det ikke regnede paa, blev tør:

8 And [the inhabitants of] two or three cities shall be gathered to one city to drink water, and they shall not be satisfied: yet you have not returned to me, says the Lord.

Og to eller tre Stæder vankede hen til een Stad for at drikke Vand, og de fik ikke nok at drikke; men I vendte ikke om til mig, siger Herren.

9 I struck you with parching, and with blight: you multiplied your gardens, your vineyards, and your fig-grounds, and the cankerworm devoured your olive yards: yet not [even] thus did you return to me, says the Lord.

Jeg har slaaet eder med Brand og Vissenhed i Kornet, eders mangfoldige Haver og eders Vingaarde og eders Figentræer og eders Oliegaarde afaad Græshoppen; men I vendte ikke om til mig, siger Herren.

10 I sent pestilence among you by the way of Egypt, and killed your young men with the sword, together with your horses that were taken captive; and in my wrath against you I set fire to your camps: yet not even thus did you return to me, says the Lord.

Jeg har sendt en Pest paa eder efter Ægyptens Vis, ihjelslaget eders unge Karle med Sværd, tillige med at eders Heste bleve gjorte til Bytte, og jeg lod Stank af eders Lejre stige op og det i eders Næse; men I vendte ikke om til mig, siger Herren.

11 I overthrew you, as God overthrew Sodoma and Gomorrha, and you became as a brand plucked out of the fire: yet not even thus did you return to me, says the Lord.

Jeg har omkastet Stæder iblandt eder, ligesom da Gud omkastede Sodoma og Gomorra, og I vare som en Brand, der reddes ud af en Ild; men I vendte ikke om til mig, siger Herren.

12 Therefore thus will I do to you, O Israel: nay because I will do thus to you, prepare to call on your God, O Israel.

Derfor vil jeg handle saaledes med dig, Israel! Efterdi jeg da vil handle saaledes med dig, da bered dig, o Israel! til at møde din Gud.

13 For, behold, I am he that strengthens the thunder, and creates the wind, and proclaims to men his Christ, forming the morning and the darkness, and mounting on the high places of the earth, The Lord God Almighty is his name.

Thi se, han danner Bjergene og skaber Vejret og kundgør et Menneske, hvad dets Tanke er; han frembringer Morgenrøde og Mørke og skrider frem over Jordens Høje; Herren, Zebaoths Gud, er hans Navn.
