Genesis 26
1 And there was a famine in the land, besides the former famine, which was in the time of Abraam; and Isaac went to Abimelech the king of the Phylistines to Gerara.
Έγεινε δε πείνα εν τη γη, εκτός της προτέρας πείνης, της γενομένης επί των ημερών του Αβραάμ. Και υπήγεν ο Ισαάκ προς τον Αβιμέλεχ, βασιλέα των Φιλισταίων, εις Γέραρα.
2 And the Lord appeared to him and said, Go not down to Egypt, but dwell in the land, which I shall tell you of.
Εφάνη δε εις αυτόν ο Κύριος και είπε, Μη καταβής εις Αίγυπτον· κατοίκησον εν τη γη την οποίαν θέλω σοι ειπεί·
3 And sojourn in this land; and I will be with you, and bless you, for I will give to you and to your seed all this land; and I will establish my oath which I swore to your father Abraam.
παροίκει εν τη γη ταύτη, και εγώ θέλω είσθαι μετά σου, και θέλω σε ευλογήσει διότι εις σε και εις το σπέρμα σου θέλω δώσει πάντας τους τόπους τούτους· και θέλω εκπληρώσει τον όρκον, τον οποίον ώμοσα προς Αβραάμ τον πατέρα σου·
4 And I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven; and I will give to your seed all this land, and all the nations of the earth shall be blest in your seed.
και θέλω πληθύνει το σπέρμα σου ως τα άστρα του ουρανού, και θέλω δώσει εις το σπέρμα σου πάντας τους τόπους τούτους, και θέλουσιν ευλογηθή εν τω σπέρματί σου πάντα τα έθνη της γής·
5 Because Abraam your father listened to my voice, and kept my injunctions, and my commandments, and my ordinances, and my statutes.
επειδή ο Αβραάμ υπήκουσεν εις την φωνήν μου, και εφύλαξε τα προστάγματά μου, τας εντολάς μου, τα διατάγματά μου και τους νόμους μου.
6 And Isaac lived in Gerara.
Και κατώκησεν ο Ισαάκ εν Γεράροις.
7 And the men of the place questioned him concerning Rebecca his wife, and he said, She is my sister, for he feared to say, She is my wife, lest at any time the men of the place should kill him because of Rebecca, because she was fair.
Ηρώτησαν δε οι άνδρες του τόπου περί της γυναικός αυτού· και είπεν, Αδελφή μου είναι· διότι εφοβήθη να είπη, Γυνή μου είναι· λέγων, Μήπως με φονεύσωσιν οι άνδρες του τόπου διά την Ρεβέκκαν· επειδή ήτο ώραία την όψιν.
8 And he remained there a long time, and Abimelech the king of Gerara leaned to look through the window, and saw Isaac sporting with Rebecca his wife.
Και αφού διέτριψεν εκεί πολλάς ημέρας, Αβιμέλεχ ο βασιλεύς των Φιλισταίων, κύψας από της θυρίδος είδε, και ιδού, ο Ισαάκ έπαιζε μετά Ρεβέκκας της γυναικός αυτού.
9 And Abimelech called Isaac, and said to him, Is she then your wife? why have you said, She is my sister? And Isaac said to him, [I did so], for I said, Lest at any time I die on her account.
Εκάλεσε δε ο Αβιμέλεχ τον Ισαάκ και είπεν, Ιδού, βεβαίως γυνή σου είναι αύτη· διά τι λοιπόν είπας, Αδελφή μου είναι; Και είπε προς αυτόν ο Ισαάκ, διότι είπον, Μήπως αποθάνω εξ αιτίας αυτής.
10 And Abimelech said to him, Why have you done this to us? one of my kindred within a little had lain with your wife, and you would have brought [a sin of] ignorance upon us.
Και είπεν ο Αβιμέλεχ, Τι είναι τούτο, το οποίον έκαμες εις ημάς; παρ' ολίγον ήθελε κοιμηθή τις εκ του λαού μετά της γυναικός σου, και ήθελες φέρει εφ' ημάς ανομίαν.
11 And Abimelech charged all his people, saying Every man that touches this man and his wife shall be liable to death.
Και προσέταξεν ο Αβιμέλεχ εις πάντα τον λαόν, λέγων, Όστις εγγίση τον άνθρωπον τούτον ή την γυναίκα αυτού, θέλει εξάπαντος θανατωθή.
12 And Isaac sowed in that land, and he found in that year barley and hundred-fold, and the Lord blessed him.
Έσπειρε δε ο Ισαάκ εν τη γη εκείνη και εσύναξε κατ' εκείνον τον χρόνον εκατονταπλάσια· και ευλόγησεν αυτόν ο Κύριος.
13 And the man was exalted, and advancing he increased, till he became very great.
Και εμεγαλύνετο ο άνθρωπος και επροχώρει αυξανόμενος, εωσού έγεινε μέγας σφόδρα·
14 And he had cattle of sheep, and cattle of oxen, and many tilled lands, and the Phylistines envied him.
και απέκτησε πρόβατα και βόας και δούλους πολλούς· εφθόνησαν δε αυτόν οι Φιλισταίοι.
15 And all the wells which the servants of his father had dug in the time of his father, the Phylistines stopped them, and filled them with earth.
Και πάντα τα φρέατα, τα οποία έσκαψαν οι δούλοι του πατρός αυτού επί των ημερών Αβραάμ του πατρός αυτού, ενέφραξαν ταύτα οι Φιλισταίοι και εγέμισαν αυτά χώμα.
16 And Abimelech said to Isaac, Depart from us, for you are become much mightier than we.
Και είπεν ο Αβιμέλεχ προς τον Ισαάκ, Άπελθε αφ' ημών, διότι έγεινες δυνατώτερος ημών σφόδρα.
17 And Isaac departed thence, and rested in the valley of Gerara, and lived there.
Και απήλθεν εκείθεν ο Ισαάκ και έστησε την σκηνήν αυτού εν τη κοιλάδι των Γεράρων και κατώκησεν εκεί.
18 And Isaac dug again the wells of water, which the servants of his father Abraam had dug, and the Phylistines had stopped them, after the death of his father Abraam; and he gave them names, according to the names by which his father named them.
Και ήνοιξε πάλιν ο Ισαάκ τα φρέατα του ύδατος, τα οποία έσκαψαν επί των ημερών Αβραάμ του πατρός αυτού, οι δε Φιλισταίοι ενέφραξαν αυτά μετά τον θάνατον του Αβραάμ· και ωνόμασεν αυτά κατά τα ονόματα, με τα οποία ο πατήρ αυτού είχεν ονομάσει αυτά.
19 And the servants of Isaac dug in the valley of Gerara, and they found there a well of living water.
Και έσκαψαν οι δούλοι του Ισαάκ εν τη κοιλάδι και εύρηκαν εκεί φρέαρ ύδατος ζώντος.
20 And the shepherds of Gerara strove with the shepherds of Isaac, saying that the water was theirs; and they called the name of the well, Injury, for they injured him.
Ελογομάχησαν δε οι ποιμένες των Γεράρων μετά των ποιμένων του Ισαάκ, λέγοντες, Ιδικόν μας είναι το ύδωρ· και ωνόμασε το φρέαρ Εσέκ· διότι εφιλονείκησαν μετ' αυτού.
21 And having departed thence he dug another well, and they strove also for that; and he named the name of it, Enmity.
Και έσκαψαν άλλο φρέαρ και ελογομάχησαν και περί αυτού· διά τούτο ωνόμασεν αυτό Σιτνά.
22 And he departed thence and dug another well; and they did not strive about that; and he named the name of it, Room, saying, Because now the Lord has made room for us, and has increased us upon the earth.
Και μετοικήσας εκείθεν έσκαψεν άλλο φρέαρ, και περί τούτου δεν ελογομάχησαν· και ωνόμασεν αυτό Ρεχωβώθ, λέγων, διότι τώρα επλάτυνεν ημάς ο Κύριος και ηύξησεν ημάς επί της γης.
23 And he went up thence to the well of the oath.
Και εκείθεν ανέβη εις Βηρ-σαβεέ.
24 And the Lord appeared to him in that night, and said, I am the God of Abraam your father; fear not, for I am with you, and I will bless you, and multiply your seed for the sake of Abraam your father.
Και εφάνη εις αυτόν ο Κύριος την νύκτα εκείνην, και είπεν, Εγώ είμαι ο Θεός Αβραάμ του πατρός σου· μη φοβού, διότι εγώ είμαι μετά σου, και θέλω σε ευλογήσει και θέλω πληθύνει το σπέρμα σου, διά Αβραάμ τον δούλον μου.
25 And he built there an altar, and called on the name of the Lord, and there he pitched his tent, and there the servants of Isaac dug a well in the valley of Gerara.
Και ωκοδόμησεν εκεί θυσιαστήριον και επεκαλέσθη το όνομα του Κυρίου· και έστησεν εκεί την σκηνήν αυτού· έσκαψαν δε εκεί οι δούλοι του Ισαάκ φρέαρ.
26 And Abimelech came to him from Gerara, and so did Ochozath his friend, and Phichol the commander-in-chief of his army.
Τότε ο Αβιμέλεχ υπήγε προς αυτόν από Γεράρων, και Οχοζάθ ο οικείος αυτού, και Φιχόλ ο αρχιστράτηγος της δυνάμεως αυτού.
27 And Isaac said to them, Therefore have you come to me? whereas you hated me, and sent me away from you.
Και είπε προς αυτούς ο Ισαάκ, Διά τι ήλθετε προς εμέ, αφού σεις με εμισήσατε και με εδιώξατε από σας;
28 And they said, We have surely seen that the Lord was with you, and we said, Let there be an oath between us and you, and we will make a covenant with you,
οι δε είπον, Είδομεν φανερά, ότι ο Κύριος είναι μετά σου, και είπομεν, Ας γείνη τώρα όρκος μεταξύ ημών, μεταξύ ημών και σου, και ας κάμωμεν συνθήκην μετά σου,
29 that you shall do no wrong by us, as we have not abhorred you, and according as we have treated you well, and have sent you forth peaceably; and now you are blessed of the Lord.
ότι δεν θέλεις κάμει κακόν εις ημάς, καθώς ημείς δεν σε ηγγίσαμεν, και καθώς επράξαμεν εις σε μόνον καλόν, και σε εξαπεστείλαμεν εν ειρήνη· τώρα συ είσαι ευλογημένος του Κυρίου.
30 And he made a feast for them, and they ate and drank.
Και έκαμεν εις αυτούς συμπόσιον· και έφαγον και έπιον.
31 And they arose in the morning, and swore each to his neighbor; and Isaac sent them forth, and they departed from him in safety.
Και εσηκώθησαν ενωρίς το πρωΐ, και ώμοσεν ο εις προς τον άλλον· τότε ο Ισαάκ εξαπέστειλεν αυτούς, και απήλθον απ' αυτού εν ειρήνη.
32 And it came to pass in that day, that the servants of Isaac came and told him of the well which they had dug; and they said, We have not found water.
Και την ημέραν εκείνην ήλθον οι δούλοι του Ισαάκ και ανήγγειλαν προς αυτόν περί του φρέατος το οποίον έσκαψαν, και είπαν προς αυτόν, Ευρήκαμεν ύδωρ.
33 And he called it, Oath: therefore he called the name of that city, the Well of Oath, until this day.
Και ωνόμασεν αυτό Σαβεέ· διά τούτο είναι το όνομα της πόλεως Βηρ-σαβεέ έως της σήμερον.
34 And Esau was forty years old; and he took as wife Judith the daughter of Beoch the Chettite, and Basemath, daughter of Helon the Chettite.
Ήτο δε ο Ησαύ ετών τεσσαράκοντα, ότε έλαβεν εις γυναίκα Ιουδίθ, την θυγατέρα Βεηρί του Χετταίου, και Βασεμάθ, την θυγατέρα Αιλών του Χετταίου·
35 And they were provoking to Isaac and Rebecca.
και αύται ήσαν πικρία ψυχής εις τον Ισαάκ και την Ρεβέκκαν.
