Job 2
1 And it came to pass on a certain day, that the angels of God came to stand before the Lord, and the devil came among them to stand before the Lord.
Y otro día aconteció que vinieron los hijos de Dios para presentarse delante de Jehová, y vino también entre ellos Satanás, pareciendo delante de Jehová.
2 And the Lord, said to the devil, Whence come you? Then the devil said before the Lord, I am come from going through the world, and walking about the whole earth.
Y dijo Jehová a Satanás: ¿De dónde vienes? Respondió Satanás a Jehová, y dijo: De rodear la tierra, y de andar por ella.
3 And the Lord said to the devil, Hast you then observed my servant Job, that there is none of [men] upon the earth like him, a harmless, true, blameless, godly man, abstaining from all evil? and he yet cleaves to innocence, whereas you has told [me] to destroy his substance without cause?
Y Jehová dijo a Satanás: ¿No has considerado a mi siervo Job, que no hay otro como él en la tierra, varón perfecto y recto, temeroso de Dios, y apartado de mal, y que aun retiene su perfección, habiéndome tú incitado contra él, para que le echase a perder sin causa?
4 And the devil answered and said to the Lord, Skin for skin, all that a man has will he give as a ransom for his life.
Y respondiendo Satanás dijo a Jehová: Piel por piel, todo lo que el hombre tiene dará por su vida.
5 Nay, but put forth your hand, and touch his bones and his flesh: verily he will bless you to [your] face.
Mas extiende ahora tu mano, y toca a su hueso, y a su carne, y verás si no te blasfema en tu rostro.
6 And the Lord said to the devil, Behold, I deliver him up to you; only save his life.
Y Jehová dijo a Satanás: He aquí, él está en tu mano; mas guarda su vida.
7 So the devil went out from the Lord, and struck Job with sore boils from [his] feet to [his] head.
Y salió Satanás de delante de Jehová, e hirió a Job de una mala sarna desde la planta de su pie, hasta la mollera de su cabeza.
8 And he took a potsherd to scrape away the discharge, and sat upon a dung-heap outside the city.
Y tomaba una teja para rascarse con ella, y estaba sentado en medio de ceniza.
9 Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.
Y su mujer le decía: ¿Aun tú retienes tu simplicidad? Maldice a Dios, y muérete.
10 But he looked on her, and said to her, You have spoken like one of the foolish women. If we have received good things of the hand of the Lord, shall we not endure evil things? In all these things that happened to him, Job sinned not at all with his lips before God.
Y él le dijo: Como suele hablar cualquiera de las mujeres insensatas, hablas tú. Está bien: recibimos el bien de Dios, ¿y el mal no recibiremos? En todo esto no pecó Job con sus labios.
11 Now his three friends having heard of all the evil that was come upon him, came to him each from his own country: Eliphaz the king of the Thaemans, Baldad sovereign of the Saucheans, Sophar king of he Minaeans: and they came to him with one accord, to comfort and to visit him.
Y oyeron tres amigos de Job todo este mal que había venido sobre él: y vinieron cada uno de su lugar, Elifaz Temanita, y Baldad Suita, y Sofar Naamatita: porque habían concertado de venir juntos a condolecerse de él, y a consolarle.
12 And when they saw him from a distance they did not know him; and they cried with a loud voice, and wept, and tore every one his garment, and sprinkled dust upon [their heads],
Los cuales alzando los ojos desde lejos, no le conocieron, y lloraron a alta voz, y cada uno de ellos rompió su manto, y esparcieron polvo sobre sus cabezas hacia el cielo.
13 and they sat down beside him seven days and seven nights, and no one of them spoke; for they saw that his affliction was dreadful and very great.
Y asentáronse con él en tierra siete días y siete noches, y ninguno le hablaba palabra, porque veían que el dolor era grande mucho.
