Psalms 78
1 [A Psalm] of instruction for Asaph. Give heed, O my people, to my law: incline your ear to the words of my mouth.
എന്റെ ജനമേ, എന്റെ ഉപദേശം ശ്രദ്ധിപ്പിൻ; എന്റെ വായ്മൊഴികൾക്കു നിങ്ങളുടെ ചെവി ചായിപ്പിൻ.
2 I will open my mouth in parables: I will utter dark sayings [which have been] from the beginning.
ഞാൻ ഉപമ പ്രസ്താവിപ്പാൻ വായ് തുറക്കും; പുരാതനകടങ്കഥകളെ ഞാൻ പറയും.
3 All which we have heard and known, and our fathers have declared to us.
നാം അവയെ കേട്ടറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ നമ്മോടു പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.
4 They were not hid from their children to a second generations; [the fathers] declaring the praises of the Lord, and his mighty acts, and his wonders which he wrought.
നാം അവരുടെ മക്കളോടു അവയെ മറെച്ചുവെക്കാതെ വരുവാനുള്ള തലമുറയോടു യഹോവയുടെ സ്തുതിയും ബലവും അവൻ ചെയ്ത അത്ഭുതപ്രവൃത്തികളും വിവരിച്ചുപറയും.
5 And he raised up a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, to make it known to their children:
അവൻ യാക്കോബിൽ ഒരു സാക്ഷ്യം സ്ഥാപിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിൽ ഒരു ന്യായപ്രമാണം നിയമിച്ചു; നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു അവയെ തങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളെ അറിയിപ്പാൻ കല്പിച്ചു.
6 that another generation might know, even the sons which should be born; and they should arise and declare them to their children.
വരുവാനുള്ള തലമുറ, ജനിപ്പാനിരിക്കുന്ന മക്കൾ തന്നേ, അവയെ ഗ്രഹിച്ചു എഴുന്നേറ്റു തങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളോടറിയിക്കയും
7 That they might set their hope on God, and not forget the works of God, but diligently seek his commandments.
അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ ആശ്രയം ദൈവത്തിൽ വെക്കുകയും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികളെ മറന്നുകളയാതെ അവന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചുനടക്കയും
8 That they should not be as their fathers, a perverse and provoking generation; a generation which set not its heart aright, and its spirit was not steadfast with God.
തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപോലെ ശാഠ്യവും മത്സരവും ഉള്ള തലമുറയായി ഹൃദയത്തെ സ്ഥിരമാക്കാതെ ദൈവത്തോടു അവിശ്വസ്തമനസ്സുള്ളോരു തലമുറയായി തീരാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ.
9 The children of Ephraim, bending and shooting [with] the bow, turned [back] in the day of battle.
ആയുധം ധരിച്ച വില്ലാളികളായ എഫ്രയീമ്യർ യുദ്ധദിവസത്തിൽ പിന്തിരിഞ്ഞുപോയി.
10 They kept not the covenant of God, and would not walk in his law.
അവർ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നിയമം പ്രമാണിച്ചില്ല; അവന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു നടന്നു.
11 And they forgot his benefits, and his miracles which he [had] showed them;
അവർ അവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികളെയും അവരെ കാണിച്ച അത്ഭുതങ്ങളെയും മറന്നു കളഞ്ഞു.
12 the miracles which he wrought before their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the plain of Tanes.
അവൻ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തു, സോവാൻ വയലിൽവെച്ചു അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാർ കാൺകെ, അത്ഭുതം പ്രവൎത്തിച്ചു.
13 He clave the sea, and led them through: he made the waters to stand as [in] a bottle.
അവൻ സമുദ്രത്തെ വിഭാഗിച്ചു, അതിൽകൂടി അവരെ കടത്തി; അവൻ വെള്ളത്തെ ചിറപോലെ നില്ക്കുമാറാക്കി.
14 And he guided them with a cloud by day, and all the night with a light of fire.
പകൽസമയത്തു അവൻ മേഘംകൊണ്ടും രാത്രി മുഴുവനും അഗ്നിപ്രകാശംകൊണ്ടും അവരെ നടത്തി.
15 he clave a rock in the wilderness, and made them drink as in a great deep.
അവൻ മരുഭൂമിയിൽ പാറകളെ പിളൎന്നു ആഴികളാൽ എന്നപോലെ അവൎക്കു ധാരാളം കുടിപ്പാൻ കൊടുത്തു.
16 And he brought water out of the rock, and caused waters to flow down as rivers.
പാറയിൽനിന്നു അവൻ ഒഴുക്കുകളെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു; വെള്ളം നദികളെപ്പോലെ ഒഴുകുമാറാക്കി.
17 And they sinned yet more against him; they provoked the Most High in the wilderness.
എങ്കിലും അവർ അവനോടു പാപം ചെയ്തു; അത്യുന്നതനോടു മരുഭൂമിയിൽവെച്ചു മത്സരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
18 And they tempted God in their hearts, in asking meat for [the desire of] their souls.
തങ്ങളുടെ കൊതിക്കു ഭക്ഷണം ചോദിച്ചു കൊണ്ടു അവർ ഹൃദയത്തിൽ ദൈവത്തെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു.
19 They spoke also against God, and said, Will God be able to prepare a table in the wilderness?
അവർ ദൈവത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി സംസാരിച്ചു: മരുഭൂമിയിൽ മേശ ഒരുക്കുവാൻ ദൈവത്തിന്നു കഴിയുമോ?
20 Forasmuch as he struck the rock, and the waters flowed, and the torrents ran abundantly; will he be able also to give bread, or prepare a table for his people?
അവൻ പാറയെ അടിച്ചു, വെള്ളം പുറപ്പെട്ടു, തോടുകളും കവിഞ്ഞൊഴുകി സത്യം; എന്നാൽ അപ്പംകൂടെ തരുവാൻ അവന്നു കഴിയുമോ? തന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു അവൻ മാംസം വരുത്തി കൊടുക്കുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
21 Therefore the Lord heard, and was provoked: and fire was kindled in Jacob, and wrath went up against Israel.
ആകയാൽ യഹോവ അതു കേട്ടു കോപിച്ചു; യാക്കോബിന്റെ നേരെ തീ ജ്വലിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ നേരെ കോപവും പൊങ്ങി.
22 Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation.
അവർ ദൈവത്തിൽ വിശ്വസിക്കയും അവന്റെ രക്ഷയിൽ ആശ്രയിക്കയും ചെയ്യായ്കയാൽ തന്നേ.
23 Yet he commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven,
അവൻ മീതെ മേഘങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ചു; ആകാശത്തിന്റെ വാതിലുകളെ തുറന്നു.
24 and rained upon them manna to eat, and gave them the bread of heaven.
അവൎക്കു തിന്മാൻ മന്ന വൎഷിപ്പിച്ചു; സ്വൎഗ്ഗീയധാന്യം അവൎക്കു കൊടുത്തു.
25 Man ate angels' bread; he sent them provision to the full.
മനുഷ്യർ ശക്തിമാന്മാരുടെ അപ്പം തിന്നു; അവൻ അവൎക്കു തൃപ്തിയാകുംവണ്ണം ആഹാരം അയച്ചു.
26 He removed the south wind from heaven; and by his might he brought in the southwest wind.
അവൻ ആകാശത്തിൽ കിഴക്കൻകാറ്റു അടിപ്പിച്ചു; തന്റെ ശക്തിയാൽ കിഴക്കൻ കാറ്റുവരുത്തി.
27 And he rained upon them flesh like dust, and feathered birds like the sand of the seas.
അവൻ അവൎക്കു പൊടിപോലെ മാംസത്തെയും കടൽപുറത്തെ മണൽപോലെ പക്ഷികളെയും വൎഷിപ്പിച്ചു;
28 And they fell into the midst of their camp, round about their tents.
അവരുടെ പാളയത്തിന്റെ നടുവിലും പാൎപ്പിടങ്ങളുടെ ചുറ്റിലും അവയെ പൊഴിച്ചു.
29 So they ate, and were completely filled; and he gave them their desire.
അങ്ങനെ അവർ തിന്നു തൃപ്തരായ്തീൎന്നു; അവർ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചതു അവൻ അവൎക്കു കൊടുത്തു.
30 They were not disappointed of their desire: [but] when their food was yet in their mouth,
അവരുടെ കൊതിക്കു മതിവന്നില്ല; ഭക്ഷണം അവരുടെ വായിൽ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോൾ തന്നേ,
31 then the indignation of God rose up against them, and killed the fattest of them, and overthrew the choice men of Israel.
ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കോപം അവരുടെമേൽ വന്നു; അവരുടെ അതിപുഷ്ടന്മാരിൽ ചിലരെ കൊന്നു യിസ്രായേലിലെ യൌവനക്കാരെ സംഹരിച്ചു.
32 In the midst of all this they sinned yet more, and believed not his miracles.
ഇതെല്ലാമായിട്ടും അവർ പിന്നെയും പാപം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ അത്ഭുതപ്രവൃത്തികളെ വിശ്വസിച്ചതുമില്ല.
33 And their days were consumed in vanity, and their years with anxiety.
അതുകൊണ്ടു അവൻ അവരുടെ നാളുകളെ ശ്വാസംപോലെയും അവരുടെ സംവത്സരങ്ങളെ അതിവേഗത്തിലും കഴിയുമാറാക്കി.
34 When he killed them, they sought him: and they returned and called betimes upon God.
അവൻ അവരെ കൊല്ലുമ്പോൾ അവർ അവനെ അന്വേഷിക്കും; അവർ തിരിഞ്ഞു ജാഗ്രതയോടെ ദൈവത്തെ തിരയും.
35 And they remembered that God was their helper, and the most high God was their redeemer.
ദൈവം തങ്ങളുടെ പാറ എന്നും അത്യുന്നതനായ ദൈവം തങ്ങളുടെ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരൻ എന്നും അവർ ഓൎക്കും.
36 Yet they loved him [only] with their mouth, and lied to him with their tongue.
എങ്കിലും അവർ വായ്കൊണ്ടു അവനോടു കപടം സംസാരിക്കും നാവുകൊണ്ടു അവനോടു ഭോഷ്കു പറയും.
37 For their heart [was] not right with him, neither were they steadfast in his covenant.
അവരുടെ ഹൃദയം അവങ്കൽ സ്ഥിരമായിരുന്നില്ല; അവന്റെ നിയമത്തോടു അവർ വിശ്വസ്തത കാണിച്ചതുമില്ല.
38 But he is compassionate, and will forgive their sins, and will not destroy [them]: yes, he will frequently turn away his wrath, and will not kindle all his anger.
എങ്കിലും അവൻ കരുണയുള്ളവനാകകൊണ്ടു അവരെ നശിപ്പിക്കാതെ അവരുടെ അകൃത്യം ക്ഷമിച്ചു; തന്റെ ക്രോധത്തെ മുഴുവനും ജ്വലിപ്പിക്കാതെ തന്റെ കോപത്തെ പലപ്പോഴും അടക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
39 And he remembered that they are flesh; a wind that passes away, and returns not.
അവർ ജഡമത്രേ എന്നും മടങ്ങിവരാതെ കടന്നുപോകുന്ന കാറ്റു എന്നും അവൻ ഓൎത്തു.
40 How often did they provoke him in the wilderness, [and] anger him in a dry land!
മരുഭൂമിയിൽ അവർ എത്ര പ്രാവശ്യം അവനോടു മത്സരിച്ചു! ശൂന്യപ്രദേശത്തു എത്രപ്രാവശ്യം അവനെ ദുഃഖിപ്പിച്ചു!
41 Yes, they turned back, and tempted God, and provoked the Holy One of Israel.
അവർ പിന്നെയും പിന്നെയും ദൈവത്തെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധനെ മുഷിപ്പിച്ചു.
42 They remembered not his hand, the day in which he delivered them from the hand of the oppressor.
മിസ്രയീമിൽ അടയാളങ്ങളെയും സോവാൻവയലിൽ അത്ഭുതങ്ങളെയും ചെയ്ത അവന്റെ കയ്യും
43 How he had wrought his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Tanes:
അവൻ ശത്രുവിൻ വശത്തുനിന്നു അവരെ വിടുവിച്ച ദിവസവും അവർ ഓൎത്തില്ല.
44 and had changed their rivers into blood; and their streams, that they should not drink.
അവൻ അവരുടെ നദികളെയും തോടുകളെയും അവൎക്കു കുടിപ്പാൻ വഹിയാതവണ്ണം രക്തമാക്കിത്തീൎത്തു.
45 He sent against them the dog-fly, and it devoured them; and the frog, and it spoiled them.
അവൻ അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ ഈച്ചയെ അയച്ചു; അവ അവരെ അരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു: തവളയെയും അയച്ചു അവ അവൎക്കു നാശം ചെയ്തു.
46 And he gave their fruit to the canker worm, and their labors to the locust.
അവരുടെ വിള അവൻ തുള്ളന്നും അവരുടെ പ്രയത്നം വെട്ടുക്കിളിക്കും കൊടുത്തു.
47 He killed their vines with hail, and their sycamores with frost.
അവൻ അവരുടെ മുന്തിരിവള്ളികളെ കന്മഴകൊണ്ടും അവരുടെ കാട്ടത്തിവൃക്ഷങ്ങളെ ആലിപ്പഴം കൊണ്ടും നശിപ്പിച്ചു.
48 And he gave up their cattle to hail, and their substance to the fire.
അവൻ അവരുടെ കന്നുകാലികളെ കന്മഴെക്കും അവരുടെ ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടങ്ങളെ ഇടിത്തീക്കും ഏല്പിച്ചു.
49 He sent out against them the fury of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and affliction, a message by evil angels.
അവൻ അവരുടെ ഇടയിൽ തന്റെ കോപാഗ്നിയും ക്രോധവും രോഷവും കഷ്ടവും അയച്ചു; അനൎത്ഥദൂതന്മാരുടെ ഒരു ഗണത്തെ തന്നേ.
50 He made a way for his wrath; he spared not their souls from death, but consigned their cattle to death;
അവൻ തന്റെ കോപത്തിന്നു ഒരു പാത ഒരുക്കി, അവരുടെ പ്രാണനെ മരണത്തിൽനിന്നു വിടുവിക്കാതെ അവരുടെ ജീവനെ മഹാമാരിക്കു ഏല്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
51 and struck every firstborn in the land of Egypt; the first fruits of their labors in the tents of Cham.
അവൻ മിസ്രയീമിലെ എല്ലാ കടിഞ്ഞൂലിനെയും ഹാംകൂടാരങ്ങളിലുള്ളവരുടെ വീൎയ്യത്തിന്റെ പ്രഥമഫലത്തെയും സംഹരിച്ചു.
52 And he removed his people like sheep; he led them as a flock in the wilderness.
എന്നാൽ തന്റെ ജനത്തെ അവൻ ആടുകളെപ്പോലെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു; മരുഭൂമിയിൽ ആട്ടിൻ കൂട്ടത്തെപ്പോലെ അവരെ നടത്തി.
53 And he guided them with hope, and they feared not: but the sea covered their enemies.
അവൻ അവരെ നിൎഭയമായി നടത്തുകയാൽ അവൎക്കു പേടിയുണ്ടായില്ല; അവരുടെ ശത്രുക്കളെ സമുദ്രം മൂടിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
54 And he brought them in to the mountain of his sanctuary, this mountain which his right hand had purchased.
അവൻ അവരെ തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധദേശത്തിലേക്കും തന്റെ വലങ്കൈ സമ്പാദിച്ച ഈ പൎവ്വതത്തിലേക്കും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
55 And he cast out the nations from before them, and made them to inherit by a line of inheritance, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.
അവരുടെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു അവൻ ജാതികളെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു; ചരടുകൊണ്ടു അളന്നു അവൎക്കു അവകാശം പകുത്തുകൊടുത്തു; യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ഗോത്രങ്ങളെ അവരവരുടെ കൂടാരങ്ങളിൽ പാൎപ്പിച്ചു.
56 Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies.
എങ്കിലും അവർ അത്യുന്നതനായ ദൈവത്തെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു മത്സരിച്ചു; അവന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യങ്ങളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചതുമില്ല.
57 And they turned back, and broke covenant, even as also their fathers: they became like a crooked bow.
അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ പിന്തിരിഞ്ഞു ദ്രോഹം ചെയ്തു; വഞ്ചനയുള്ള വില്ലുപോലെ അവർ മാറിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
58 And they provoked him with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.
അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ പൂജാഗിരികളെക്കൊണ്ടു അവനെ കോപിപ്പിച്ചു; വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെക്കൊണ്ടു അവന്നു തീക്ഷ്ണത ജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
59 God heard and lightly regarded [them], and greatly despised Israel.
ദൈവം കേട്ടു ക്രുദ്ധിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിനെ ഏറ്റവും വെറുത്തു.
60 And he rejected the tabernacle of Selom, his tent where he lived among men.
ആകയാൽ അവൻ ശീലോവിലെ തിരുനിവാസവും താൻ മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഇടയിൽ അടിച്ചിരുന്ന കൂടാരവും ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
61 And he gave their strength into captivity, and their beauty into the enemy's hand.
തന്റെ ബലത്തെ പ്രവാസത്തിലും തന്റെ മഹത്വത്തെ ശത്രുവിന്റെ കയ്യിലും ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.
62 And he gave his people to the sword; and disdained his inheritance.
അവൻ തന്റെ അവകാശത്തോടു കോപിച്ചു; തന്റെ ജനത്തെ വാളിന്നു വിട്ടുകൊടുത്തു.
63 Fire devoured their young men; and their virgins mourned not.
അവരുടെ യൌവനക്കാർ തീക്കു ഇരയായിത്തീൎന്നു; അവരുടെ കന്യകമാൎക്കു വിവാഹഗീതം ഉണ്ടായതുമില്ല.
64 Their priests fell by the sword; and their widows shall not be wept for.
അവരുടെ പുരോഹിതന്മാർ വാൾകൊണ്ടു വീണു; അവരുടെ വിധവമാർ വിലാപം കഴിച്ചതുമില്ല.
65 So the Lord awaked as one out of sleep, [and] as a mighty man who has been heated with wine.
അപ്പോൾ കൎത്താവു ഉറക്കുണൎന്നുവരുന്നവനെപ്പോലെയും വീഞ്ഞുകുടിച്ചു അട്ടഹസിക്കുന്ന വീരനെപ്പോലെയും ഉണൎന്നു.
66 And he struck his enemies in the hinder parts: he brought on them a perpetual reproach.
അവൻ തന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ പുറകോട്ടു അടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; അവൎക്കു നിത്യനിന്ദവരുത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു.
67 And he rejected the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim;
എന്നാൽ അവൻ യോസേഫിന്റെ കൂടാരത്തെ ത്യജിച്ചു; എഫ്രയീംഗോത്രത്തെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തതുമില്ല.
68 but chose the tribe of Juda, the mount Sion which he loved.
അവൻ യെഹൂദാഗോത്രത്തെയും താൻ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട സീയോൻ പൎവ്വതത്തെയും തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു.
69 And he built his sanctuary as [the place] of unicorns; he founded it for ever on the earth.
താൻ സദാകാലത്തേക്കും സ്ഥാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഭൂമിയെപ്പോലെയും സ്വൎഗ്ഗോന്നതികളെപ്പോലെയും അവൻ തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തെ പണിതു.
70 He chose David also his servant, and took him up from the flocks of sheep.
അവൻ തന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിനെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു; ആട്ടിൻ തൊഴുത്തുകളിൽനിന്നു അവനെ വരുത്തി.
71 He took him from following the ewes great with young, to be the shepherd of Jacob his servant, and Israel his inheritance.
തന്റെ ജനമായ യാക്കോബിനെയും തന്റെ അവകാശമായ യിസ്രായേലിനെയും മേയിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവൻ അവനെ തള്ളയാടുകളെ നോക്കുന്ന വേലയിൽനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
72 So he tended them in the innocency of his heart; and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.
അങ്ങനെ അവൻ പരമാൎത്ഥഹൃദയത്തോടെ അവരെ മേയിച്ചു; കൈമിടുക്കോടെ അവരെ നടത്തി.
