Genesis 15
1 After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not Abram; I am thy shield, thy reward shall be exceedingly great.
Depois destas coisas veio a palavra do Senhor a Abrão em visão, dizendo: Não temas, Abrão, eu sou o teu escudo, o teu grandíssimo galardão.
2 And Abram said, Lord God, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?
Então disse Abrão: Senhor Jehovah, que me as de dar, pois ando sem filhos, e o mordomo da minha casa é o damasceno Elieser?
3 And Abram said, Behold to me thou hast given no seed; and lo, one born in my house will be my heir.
Disse mais Abrão: Eis que me não tens dado semente, e eis que um nascido na minha casa será o meu herdeiro.
4 And behold, the word of the Lord came unto him, saying, This one shall not be thy heir; but he that shall come forth out of thy own bowels shall be thy heir.
E eis que veio a palavra do Senhor a ele, dizendo: Este não será o teu herdeiro; mas aquele que de tuas entranhas sair, este será o teu herdeiro.
5 And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward the heaven, and count the stars, if thou be able to count them; and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.
Então o levou fora, e disse: Olha agora para os céus, e conta as estrelas, se as podes contar. E disse-lhe: Assim será a tua semente.
6 And he believed in the Lord; and he accounted it to him for righteousness.
E creu ele no Senhor, e imputou-lhe isto por justiça.
7 And he said unto him, I am the Lord that brought thee out of Ur of the Chaldees, to give unto thee this land, to inherit it.
Disse-lhe mais: Eu sou o Senhor, que te tirei de Ur dos caldeus, para dar-te a ti esta terra, para herda-la.
8 And he said, Lord God, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?
E disse ele: Senhor Jehovah, como saberei que hei de herda-la?
9 And he said unto him, Take me a heifer of three years old, and a she-goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtle-dove, and a young pigeon.
E disse-lhe: Toma-me uma bezerra de três anos, e uma cabra de três anos, e um carneiro de três anos, uma rola, e um pombinho.
10 And he took unto him all these, and divided them in the midst, and laid each piece one opposite the other; but the birds he did not divide.
E trouxe-lhe todos estes, e partiu-os pelo meio, e pôs cada parte deles em frente da outra; mas as aves não partiu.
11 And the birds of prey came down upon the carcasses; but Abram drove them away.
E as aves desciam sobre os cadáveres; Abrão, porém, as enxotava.
12 And when the sun was about going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and lo, a horror, dark and great, fell upon him.
E pondo-se o sol, um profundo sono caiu sobre Abrão; e eis que grande espanto e grande escuridão caiu sobre ele.
13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land which is not theirs, and they will make them serve, and they will afflict them four hundred years.
Então disse a Abrão: Saibas, de certo, que peregrina será a tua semente em terra que não é sua, e servi-los-ão; e afligí-los-ão quatrocentos anos;
14 And also that nation whom they shall serve, will I judge; and afterward shall they go out with great substance.
Mas também eu julgarei a gente, a qual servirão, e depois sairão com grande fazenda.
15 But thou shalt come to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.
E tu irás a teus pais em paz: em boa velhice serás sepultado.
16 Yet the fourth generation shall come hither again; for the iniquity of the Emorites will not be full until then.
E a quarta geração tornará para cá; porque a medida da injustiça dos amoreus não está ainda cheia.
17 And it came to pass, when the sun had gone down, and it was dark, that behold a smoking furnace, and a burning flame, which passed between those pieces.
E sucedeu que, posto o sol, houve escuridão: e eis um forno de fumo, e uma tocha de fogo, que passou por aquelas metades.
18 On the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates;
Naquele mesmo dia fez o Senhor um concerto com Abrão, dizendo: Á tua semente tenho dado esta terra, desde o rio Egito até ao grande rio Euphrates;
19 The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,
E o keneu, e o kenezeu, e o kadmoneu,
20 And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaim,
E o hetheu, e o pereseu, e os Rephains,
21 And the Emorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.
E o amoreu, e o Cananeo, e o girgaseu, e o jebuseu.
