Acts 11
1 Now the apostles and the brothers who were in Yehuda heard that the non-Jewish people had also received the word of God.
itthaṁ bhinnadeśīyalokā apīśvarasya vākyam agṛhlan imāṁ vārttāṁ yihūdīyadeśasthapreritā bhrātṛgaṇaśca śrutavantaḥ|
2 When Kipha had come up to Urishlim, those who were of the circumcision contended with him,
tataḥ pitare yirūśālamnagaraṁ gatavati tvakchedino lokāstena saha vivadamānā avadan,
3 saying, "You went in to uncircumcised men, and ate with them."
tvam atvakchedilokānāṁ gṛhaṁ gatvā taiḥ sārddhaṁ bhuktavān|
4 But Kipha began, and explained to them in order, saying,
tataḥ pitara āditaḥ kramaśastatkāryyasya sarvvavṛttāntamākhyātum ārabdhavān|
5 "I was in the city of Yupi praying, and in a trance I saw a vision: a certain container descending, like it was a great sheet let down from heaven by four corners. It came as far as me.
yāphonagara ekadāhaṁ prārthayamāno mūrcchitaḥ san darśanena caturṣu koṇeṣu lambanamānaṁ vṛhadvastramiva pātramekam ākāśadavaruhya mannikaṭam āgacchad apaśyam|
6 When I had looked intently at it, I considered, and saw the four-footed animals of the earth, wild animals, crawling creatures, and birds of the sky.
paścāt tad ananyadṛṣṭyā dṛṣṭvā vivicya tasya madhye nānāprakārān grāmyavanyapaśūn urogāmikhecarāṁśca dṛṣṭavān;
7 I also heard a voice saying to me, 'Rise, Kipha, kill and eat.'
he pitara tvamutthāya gatvā bhuṁkṣva māṁ sambodhya kathayantaṁ śabdamekaṁ śrutavāṁśca|
8 But I said, 'Not so, Lord, for nothing unholy or unclean has ever entered into my mouth.'
tatohaṁ pratyavadaṁ, he prabho netthaṁ bhavatu, yataḥ kiñcana niṣiddham aśuci dravyaṁ vā mama mukhamadhyaṁ kadāpi na prāviśat|
9 But a voice answered the second time out of heaven, 'What God has cleansed, do not call unclean.'
aparam īśvaro yat śuci kṛtavān tanniṣiddhaṁ na jānīhi dvi rmāmpratīdṛśī vihāyasīyā vāṇī jātā|
10 This was done three times, and all were drawn up again into heaven.
triritthaṁ sati tat sarvvaṁ punarākāśam ākṛṣṭaṁ|
11 And look, immediately three men stood before the house where we were, having been sent from Qesarya to me.
paścāt kaisariyānagarāt trayo janā mannikaṭaṁ preṣitā yatra niveśane sthitohaṁ tasmin samaye tatropātiṣṭhan|
12 The Rukha told me to go with them, without discriminating. These six brothers also accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house.
tadā niḥsandehaṁ taiḥ sārddhaṁ yātum ātmā māmādiṣṭavān; tataḥ paraṁ mayā sahaiteṣu ṣaḍbhrātṛṣu gateṣu vayaṁ tasya manujasya gṛhaṁ prāviśāma|
13 He told us how he had seen the angel standing in his house, and saying to him, 'Send to Yupi, and get Shimon, whose surname is Kipha,
sosmākaṁ nikaṭe kathāmetām akathayat ekadā dūta ekaḥ pratyakṣībhūya mama gṛhamadhye tiṣṭan māmityājñāpitavān, yāphonagaraṁ prati lokān prahitya pitaranāmnā vikhyātaṁ śimonam āhūyaya;
14 who will speak to you words by which you will be saved, you and all your house.'
tatastava tvadīyaparivārāṇāñca yena paritrāṇaṁ bhaviṣyati tat sa upadekṣyati|
15 As I began to speak, the Rukha d'Qudsha fell on them, even as on us at the beginning.
ahaṁ tāṁ kathāmutthāpya kathitavān tena prathamam asmākam upari yathā pavitra ātmāvarūḍhavān tathā teṣāmapyupari samavarūḍhavān|
16 I remembered the word of the Lord, how he said, 'Yukhanan indeed baptized in water, but you will be baptized in the Rukha d'Qudsha.'
tena yohan jale majjitavān iti satyaṁ kintu yūyaṁ pavitra ātmani majjitā bhaviṣyatha, iti yadvākyaṁ prabhuruditavān tat tadā mayā smṛtam|
17 If then God gave to them the same gift as us, when we believed in the Lord Yeshua Meshikha, who was I, that I could withstand God?"
ataḥ prabhā yīśukhrīṣṭe pratyayakāriṇo ye vayam asmabhyam īśvaro yad dattavān tat tebhyo lokebhyopi dattavān tataḥ kohaṁ? kimaham īśvaraṁ vārayituṁ śaknomi?
18 When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, "Then God has also granted to the non-Jews repentance to life."
kathāmetāṁ śruvā te kṣāntā īśvarasya guṇān anukīrttya kathitavantaḥ, tarhi paramāyuḥprāptinimittam īśvaronyadeśīyalokebhyopi manaḥparivarttanarūpaṁ dānam adāt|
19 They therefore who were scattered abroad by the oppression that arose about Astapanos traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except to Jews only.
stiphānaṁ prati upadrave ghaṭite ye vikīrṇā abhavan tai phainīkīkuprāntiyakhiyāsu bhramitvā kevalayihūdīyalokān vinā kasyāpyanyasya samīpa īśvarasya kathāṁ na prācārayan|
20 But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Qurini, who, when they had come to Antioch, spoke to the Greeks, proclaiming the good news of the Lord Yeshua.
aparaṁ teṣāṁ kuprīyāḥ kurīnīyāśca kiyanto janā āntiyakhiyānagaraṁ gatvā yūnānīyalokānāṁ samīpepi prabhoryīśoḥ kathāṁ prācārayan|
21 The hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned to the Lord.
prabhoḥ karasteṣāṁ sahāya āsīt tasmād aneke lokā viśvasya prabhuṁ prati parāvarttanta|
22 And the report concerning them was heard by the church in Urishlim, so they sent Bar-Naba to Antioch,
iti vārttāyāṁ yirūśālamasthamaṇḍalīyalokānāṁ karṇagocarībhūtāyām āntiyakhiyānagaraṁ gantu te barṇabbāṁ prairayan|
23 who, when he had come, and had seen the grace of God, was glad. He exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they should remain true to the Lord.
tato barṇabbāstatra upasthitaḥ san īśvarasyānugrahasya phalaṁ dṛṣṭvā sānando jātaḥ,
24 For he was a good man, and full of the Rukha d'Qudsha and of faith, and many people were added to the Lord.
sa svayaṁ sādhu rviśvāsena pavitreṇātmanā ca paripūrṇaḥ san ganoniṣṭayā prabhāvāsthāṁ karttuṁ sarvvān upadiṣṭavān tena prabhoḥ śiṣyā aneke babhūvuḥ|
25 Bar-Naba went out to Tarsus to look for Shaul.
śeṣe śaulaṁ mṛgayituṁ barṇabbāstārṣanagaraṁ prasthitavān| tatra tasyoddeśaṁ prāpya tam āntiyakhiyānagaram ānayat;
26 When he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. It happened, that for a whole year they were gathered together with the church, and taught many people. The disciples were first called Meshihaye in Antioch.
tatastau maṇḍalīsthalokaiḥ sabhāṁ kṛtvā saṁvatsaramekaṁ yāvad bahulokān upādiśatāṁ; tasmin āntiyakhiyānagare śiṣyāḥ prathamaṁ khrīṣṭīyanāmnā vikhyātā abhavan|
27 Now in these days, prophets came down from Urishlim to Antioch.
tataḥ paraṁ bhaviṣyadvādigaṇe yirūśālama āntiyakhiyānagaram āgate sati
28 One of them named Agavus stood up, and indicated by the Rukha that there should be a great famine all over the world, which also happened in the days of Claudius.
āgābanāmā teṣāmeka utthāya ātmanaḥ śikṣayā sarvvadeśe durbhikṣaṁ bhaviṣyatīti jñāpitavān; tataḥ klaudiyakaisarasyādhikāre sati tat pratyakṣam abhavat|
29 As any of the disciples had plenty, each determined to send relief to the brothers who lived in Yehuda;
tasmāt śiṣyā ekaikaśaḥ svasvaśaktyanusārato yihūdīyadeśanivāsināṁ bhratṛṇāṁ dinayāpanārthaṁ dhanaṁ preṣayituṁ niścitya
30 which they also did, sending it to the elders by the hands of Bar-Naba and Shaul.
barṇabbāśaulayo rdvārā prācīnalokānāṁ samīpaṁ tat preṣitavantaḥ|
