Romans 12
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, well-pleasing to God, which is your spiritual worship;
Kérlek azért titeket, atyámfiai, Isten irgalmasságára, hogy szánjátok oda testeteket élő, szent és Istennek kedves áldozatul, mint a ti okos istentiszteleteteket.
2 and be not conformed to the fashion of this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that ye may learn by experience what is the will of God, what is good, and well-pleasing, and perfect. (aiōn g165)
És ne szabjátok magatokat e világhoz, hanem változzatok meg értelmetek megújulásával, hogy megítélhessétek, mi az Isten jó, neki tetsző és tökéletes akarata. (aiōn g165)
3 For through the grace given to me I warn every one among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, according to the measure of faith which God hath imparted to each.
A nekem adott kegyelem által mondom mindenkinek közöttetek, hogy ne gondoljon magáról többet, mint amit kell, hanem józanon gondolkodjék, amint Isten adta kinek-kinek a hit mértékét.
4 For as in one body we have many members, and the members have not all the same office,
Mert ahogyan egy testnek sok tagja van, de nem minden tagnak ugyanaz a feladata,
5 so we, though many, form one body in Christ, and each of us is a member of it in common with the rest.
úgy sokan egy test vagyunk a Krisztusban, egyenként pedig egymásnak tagjai vagyunk.
6 Having then gifts which dither according to the grace which hath been bestowed upon us, if we have prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of our faith;
Mivel pedig különböző ajándékaink vannak a nekünk adott kegyelem szerint, így is szolgálunk: ha írásmagyarázás, a hit szabályai szerint teljesítsük;
7 or if service, let us attend to the service; he that teacheth, let him attend to teaching;
ha más szolgálat adatott, akkor abban a szolgálatban munkálkodjunk: a tanító a tanításban,
8 or he that exhorteth, to exhortation; he that giveth, let him do it with liberality; he that presideth over others, with diligence; he that doeth deeds of mercy, with cheerfulness.
az intő az intésben, az adakozó szelídségben, az elöljáró szorgalommal, a könyörülő vidámsággal tegye.
9 Let your love be unfeigned. Abhor that which is evil, cleave to that which is good.
A szeretet képmutatás nélkül való legyen. Iszonyodjatok a gonosztól, ragaszkodjatok a jóhoz.
10 In brotherly love, be affectionate to one another; in honor, give each other the preference.
Atyafiúi szeretettel egymás iránt gyöngédek, a tiszteletadásban egymást megelőzők legyetek.
11 Be not backward in zeal; be fervent in spirit; serving the Lord.
Az igyekezetben ne legyetek restek, lélekben buzgók legyetek, az Úrnak szolgáljatok,
12 Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; persevere in prayer.
A reménységben örvendezők, a háborúságban tűrők, a könyörgésben állhatatosak,
13 Relieve the wants of the holy; be given to hospitality.
a szentek szükségeire adakozók legyetek, a vendégszeretetet gyakoroljátok.
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless, and curse not.
Áldjátok azokat, akik titeket üldöznek, áldjátok, és ne átkozzátok.
15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep.
Örüljetek az örülőkkel, és sírjatok a sírókkal.
16 Be of one mind among yourselves. Set not your minds on high things, but content yourselves with what is humble. Be not wise in your own conceits.
Egymással egyetértésben éljetek, ne kevélykedjetek, hanem az alázatosokhoz tartsátok magatokat. Ne legyetek bölcsek önmagatok szemében.
17 Render to no one evil for evil; have regard to what is honorable in the sight of all men.
Senkinek gonoszért gonosszal ne fizessetek. A tisztességre gondotok legyen minden ember előtt.
18 If it be possible, as far as dependeth on you, be at peace with all men.
Ha lehetséges, amennyire rajtatok áll, minden emberrel békességben éljetek.
19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather make room for wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.”
Magatokért bosszút ne álljatok, szeretteim, hanem adjatok helyt az ő haragjának, mert meg van írva: „Enyém az igazságszolgáltatás, én megfizetek! – ezt mondja az Úr.“
20 Therefore, “if thy enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink. For in so doing thou wilt heap coals of fire on his head.”
Azért, ha éhezik a te ellenséged, adj ennie, ha szomjazik, adj innia, mert ha ezt teszed, parazsat gyűjtesz a fejére.
21 Be not overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
Ne győzzön le téged a gonosz, hanem a gonoszt jóval győzd meg.
