2 Chronicles 12

1 And it came to pass, when the kingdom of Rehoboam was established, and he was strong, that he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel with him.

Cuando el reino de Roboam se había afianzado y fortalecido, él abandonó la Ley de Yavé y todo el pueblo con él.

2 And it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, because they had trespassed against the LORD,

Sucedió que en el año quinto del rey Roboam, por cuanto se rebeló contra Yavé, Sisac, rey de Egipto, subió contra Jerusalén

3 with twelve hundred chariots, and threescore thousand horsemen: and the people were without number that came with him out of Egypt; the Lubim, the Sukkiim, and the Ethiopians.

con 1.200 carruajes de guerra y 60.000 jinetes. El ejército de libios, suquienos y etíopes que iban con él desde Egipto era innumerable.

4 And he took the fenced cities which pertained to Judah, and came unto Jerusalem.

Tomó las ciudades fortificadas de Judá y llegó hasta Jerusalén.

5 Now Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam, and to the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus saith the LORD, Ye have forsaken me, therefore have I also left you in the hand of Shishak.

Entonces el profeta Semaías fue a Roboam y a los jefes de Judá, que se reunieron en Jerusalén a causa de Sisac, y les dijo: Yavé dice: Ustedes me abandonaron. Yo también los abandono en manos de Sisac.

6 Then the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The LORD is righteous.

Pero los jefes de Israel y el rey se humillaron y dijeron: Justo es Yavé.

7 And when the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the word of the LORD came to Shemaiah, saying, They have humbled themselves; I will not destroy them: but I will grant them some deliverance, and my wrath shall not be poured out upon Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.

Cuando Yavé vio que se humillaron, la Palabra de Yavé vino a Semaías: Se humillaron, Por tanto, no los destruiré, sino les daré algún escape. Mi ira no se derramará contra Jerusalén por medio de Sisac.

8 Nevertheless they shall be his servants; that they may know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the countries.

Pero serán sus esclavos, para que conozcan la diferencia entre servirme a Mí y servir a los reinos de las naciones.

9 So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king’s house; he took all away: he took away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made.

Sisac, rey de Egipto, subió contra Jerusalén y tomó los tesoros de la Casa de Yavé y la casa real. Se llevó todo y tomó los escudos de oro que hizo Salomón.

10 And king Rehoboam made in their stead shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the captains of the guard, that kept the door of the king’s house.

El rey Roboam los reemplazó por escudos de bronce y los entregó a los jefes de la guardia que custodiaba la entrada al palacio real.

11 And it was so, that as oft as the king entered into the house of the LORD, the guard came and bare them, and brought them back into the guard chamber.

Cuando el rey iba a la Casa de Yavé, los guardias de la escolta iban y los llevaban, pero después los devolvían a la cámara de la guardia.

12 And when he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him, that he would not destroy him altogether: and moreover in Judah there were good things [found].

Cuando Roboam se humilló, la ira de Yavé se apartó de él, de manera que no lo destruyó por completo. También en Judá las cosas iban bien.

13 So king Rehoboam strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned: for Rehoboam was forty and one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there: and his mother’s name was Naamah the Ammonitess.

El rey Roboam tenía 41 años cuando comenzó a reinar. Se fortaleció en Jerusalén, la ciudad que Yavé escogió de entre todas las tribus de Israel para poner allí su Nombre. Reinó 17 años. El nombre de su madre fue Naama amonita.

14 And he did that which was evil, because he set not his heart to seek the LORD.

Hizo lo malo, porque no dispuso su corazón para buscar a Yavé.

15 Now the acts of Rehoboam, first and last, are they not written in the histories of Shemaiah the prophet and of Iddo the seer, after the manner of genealogies? And there were wars between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually.

Los hechos de Roboam, primeros y últimos, ¿no están escritos en los rollos del profeta Semaías y del vidente Iddo, según el registro genealógico? Todo el tiempo hubo guerra entre Roboam y Jeroboam.

16 And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abijah his son reigned in his stead.

Roboam descansó con sus antepasados y fue sepultado en la Ciudad de David. Su hijo Abías reinó en su lugar.
