Colossians 2
1 For I desire you to know, how great a contest I am having—in behalf of you, and of those in Laodicea, and as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
Eu quero que saibam como estou trabalhando duro por vocês e também por todos em Laodiceia e, na verdade, por todos a quem eu não conheço pessoalmente,
2 In order that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, even unto all the riches of the full assurance of their understanding, unto a personal knowledge of the sacred secret of God, —Christ:
para que vocês se sintam encorajados. Que vocês estejam unidos pela força do amor, vivenciando o grande benefício de estarem completamente certos em seu entendimento, pois é isso que ganhamos, por meio do verdadeiro conhecimento de Deus. Que vocês conheçam o mistério revelado de Deus, que é Cristo!
3 In whom are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge hidden away.
Pois nele, vocês podem descobrir toda a rica sabedoria e todo o conhecimento que vêm de Deus.
4 This I say, in order that, no one, may be reasoning, you, aside with plausible discourse;
Eu lhes digo isso para que ninguém os engane com histórias falsas.
5 For, though, indeed, in the flesh, I am absent, yet, in the spirit, with you, I am—rejoicing, and beholding your order and the solid firmness of your Christ-ward faith.
Mesmo que eu não esteja fisicamente aí com vocês, eu estou em espírito. Estou feliz por ver como vocês se mantiveram unidos e como estão firmes em sua fé em Cristo.
6 As therefore ye have accepted the Anointed Jesus as your Lord, in him, be walking, —
Da mesma maneira que aceitaram Cristo Jesus como Senhor, vão em frente e sigam-no;
7 Rooted, and being built up, in him, and making yourselves sure in your faith, even as ye have been taught, —surpassing therein with thanksgiving.
nele estejam enraizados e edificados. Que a sua fé nele continue a crescer forte, mantendo em seus corações tudo o que lhes foi ensinado, cheios de gratidão a Deus.
8 Be taking heed, lest there shall be anyone leading, you, off as a spoil, through means of their philosophy, and an empty deceit, —according to the instruction of men, according to the first principles of the world, —and not according to Christ:
Tenham cuidado para que ninguém os escravize por meio de filosofias e ilusões sem valor, seguindo tradições humanas e conceitos deste mundo, em vez de seguirem a Cristo.
9 Because, in him, dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead, bodily,
Pois em Cristo, como ser humano, está presente a plenitude da natureza de Deus
10 And ye are, in him, filled full, —Who, is the head of all principality and authority,
e vocês se tornaram plenos nele. Ele é superior a qualquer governante ou autoridade.
11 In whom, ye have also been circumcised with a circumcision not done by hand, in the despoiling of the body of flesh, in the circumcision of the Christ, —
Vocês foram “circuncidados” nele, mas não por mãos humanas. Vocês foram libertados da natureza humana pecadora pela “circuncisão” que Cristo realizou.
12 Having been buried together with him in your immersion, wherein also ye have been raised together, through your faith in the energising of God—Who raised him from among the dead.
Vocês foram sepultados com ele no batismo e, depois, ressuscitaram com ele por acreditarem que Deus ressuscitou o seu Filho dos mortos.
13 And, as for you—who were, dead, by your offences and by the uncircumcision of your flesh, he hath brought you to life together with him, —having in favour forgiven us all our offences,
E ainda que vocês estivessem espiritualmente mortos por causa dos seus pecados e não fossem fisicamente circuncidados, Deus os ressuscitou juntamente com o seu Filho querido. Ele perdoou todos os nossos pecados.
14 Having blotted out the handwriting against us by the decrees, which was hostile to us, —and hath taken away, the same, out of the midst, nailing it up to the cross:
Ele apagou qualquer registro que houvesse de nossas dívidas, com os seus regulamentos, que nos era prejudicial. Ele tirou essa barreira ao pregá-la na cruz.
15 Spoiling the principalities and the authorities, he made of them an open example, celebrating a triumph over them thereby.
Ele nos livrou do poder de governantes e autoridades espirituais e, ao revelar publicamente o que eles realmente eram, levou-os humilhados como seus prisioneiros em seu glorioso desfile de vitória.
16 Let no one, therefore, be judging, you, —in eating and in drinking, or in respect of feast, or new moon, or sabbath, —
Então, não deixem que ninguém os critique pelo que vocês comem ou bebem ou em relação a qualquer festa religiosa, ritual da lua nova ou sábados cerimoniais.
17 Which are a shadow of the things to come, whereas, the body, is of the Christ.
Pois isso tudo representa apenas uma sombra do que estava por vir, porque a realidade é Cristo.
18 Let, no one, against you, be arbitrating, however wishful, —in respect of lowliness of mind, and of a religious observance of the messengers: upon what things he hath seen, taking his stand, in vain, puffed up by his carnal mind, —
Não deixem que ninguém tire de vocês o seu prêmio, ao insistir para que vocês exibam humildade ou adorem os anjos. Eles acham que são melhores do que todas as outras pessoas por causa das visões que eles dizem ter e se tornam ridiculamente vaidosos em suas mentes pecadoras.
19 And not holding fast the head: from which, all the body, through means of its joints and uniting bands, receiving supply, and connecting itself together, groweth with the growth of God.
Tais pessoas não estão ligadas a Cristo, ou seja, à cabeça que comanda o corpo e que alimenta e une todas as partes do corpo, por meio dos tendões e dos músculos. Quando o corpo está unido, ele cresce da maneira que Deus quer que ele cresça.
20 If ye have died, together with Christ, from the first principles of the world, why, as though alive in the world, are ye submitting to decrees, —
Se vocês morreram com Cristo para as exigências religiosas sobre as quais este mundo insiste, por que, então, vocês se sujeitam a essas exigências como se ainda fizessem parte deste mundo?
21 Do not handle, nor taste, nor touch; —
Coisas, como por exemplo: não mexa nisso, não prove aquilo, não toque nisso!
22 Which things are all for decay in the using up; —according to the commandments and teachings of men?
Essas ordens se referem a coisas que não duram depois que são usadas, e são baseadas em exigências e ensinamentos feitos por homens.
23 The which things, indeed, though they have, an appearance, of wisdom, in self-devised religious observance, and lowliness of mind, [and] ill-treatment of body, are, in no honourable way, unto a satisfying of the flesh.
Essas regras só fazem sentido para quem pratica a autopiedade, para aqueles que se sentem orgulhosos por serem humildes e que “torturam o corpo.” Mas, na verdade, essas coisas não ajudam em nada a lidar com os desejos que levam ao pecado.
