< Psalms 9 >

1 To the Chief Musician. On "Muthlabben." A Melody of David. I will praise Yahweh with all my heart, I will recount all thy wonderful doings:
[For the choir director; according to Muth-labben. A Psalm by David.] I will give thanks to YHWH with my whole heart. I will tell of all your marvelous works.
2 I will rejoice and exult in thee, I will praise in song, thy Name, O most High.
I will be glad and rejoice in you. I will sing praise to your name, O Most High.
3 When mine enemies turned back, they stumbled and perished from before thee;
When my enemies turn back, they stumble and perish in your presence.
4 For thou hast executed my right and my cause, Thou hast sat on the throne, judging righteously:
For you have upheld my just cause. You sit on the throne judging righteously.
5 Thou hast rebuked the nations, Thou hast destroyed the lawless one, Their name, hast thou wiped out, to times age-abiding and beyond.
You have rebuked the nations. You have destroyed the wicked. You have blotted out their name forever and ever.
6 O enemy! complete are the desolations, evermore, —even cities, hast thou uprooted, The memory of, them, hath perished.
The enemy is overtaken by endless ruin; and the very memory of the cities which you have overthrown has perished.
7 But, Yahweh, unto times age-abiding, will sit, Ready for judgment, is his throne;
But YHWH reigns forever. He has prepared his throne for judgment.
8 And, he, will judge the world in righteousness, He will minister judgment to peoples, in uprightness.
And he will judge the world in righteousness. He will judge the peoples with equity.
9 Thus be Yahweh a refuge for the crushed one, a refuge for times of destitution:
YHWH will also be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.
10 Thus let them who know thy Name, put confidence in thee, that thou hast not forsaken the searchers for thee, O Yahweh.
And those who know your name will put their trust in you, for you, YHWH, have not forsaken those who seek you.
11 Sing ye praise to Yahweh, who is seated in Zion, Tell among the peoples his doings.
Sing praises to YHWH, who dwells in Zion, and declare among the people what he has done.
12 When he was making inquisition for blood, of them, had he remembrance, he forgat not the outcry of the oppressed.
For he who takes revenge against murderers remembers them. He doesn't forget the cry of the afflicted.
13 Show me favour, O Yahweh! Behold my humiliation due to them who hate me, Lift me on high out of the gates of death;
Have mercy on me, YHWH. See my affliction by those who hate me. You lift me up from the gates of death,
14 That I may recount all thy praises, In the gates of the daughter of Zion, may exult in thy salvation.
so that I may tell all your praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion. I will rejoice in your salvation.
15 The nations, have sunk, in the pit they had made, In the net which they had hidden, is caught their own foot.
The nations have fallen into the pit they had made. In the net which they hid, their feet are caught.
16 To be known is Yahweh, by the sentence he hath executed, By the doing of his own hands, is he about to strike down the lawless one. [Resounding music. (Selah)
YHWH has made himself known. He has executed judgment. The wicked is snared by the work of his own hands. (Higgaion, Selah)
17 The lawless, shall return, to hades, all nations forgetful of God. (Sheol h7585)
The wicked shall be turned back to Sheol, even all the nations that forget God. (Sheol h7585)
18 For, not always, shall the needy, be forgotten, —[nor, ] the hope of the oppressed, perish for ever.
For the needy shall not always be forgotten; the hope of the poor shall not perish forever.
19 Rise! Yahweh! let man not prevail, let the nations be judged before thee.
Arise, YHWH. Do not let man prevail. Let the nations be judged in your presence.
20 Appoint, O Yahweh, a terror for them, —Let the nations know [that] they are men. (Selah)
Terrify them, YHWH. Let the nations know that they are only human. (Selah)
