Luke 4
1 On returning from the Jordan, full of the Holy Spirit, Jesus was led by the power of the Spirit through the Wilderness for forty days, tempted by the Devil.
ตต: ปรํ ยีศุ: ปวิเตฺรณาตฺมนา ปูรฺณ: สนฺ ยรฺทฺทนนทฺยา: ปราวฺฤตฺยาตฺมนา ปฺรานฺตรํ นีต: สนฺ จตฺวารึศทฺทินานิ ยาวตฺ ไศตานา ปรีกฺษิโต'ภูตฺ,
2 All that time he ate nothing; and, when it was over, he became hungry.
กิญฺจ ตานิ สรฺวฺวทินานิ โภชนํ วินา สฺถิตตฺวาตฺ กาเล ปูรฺเณ ส กฺษุธิตวานฺฯ
3 So the Devil said to him: “If you are God’s Son, tell this stone to become a loaf of bread.”
ตต: ไศตานาคตฺย ตมวทตฺ ตฺวํ เจทีศฺวรสฺย ปุตฺรสฺตรฺหิ ปฺรสฺตราเนตานฺ อาชฺญยา ปูปานฺ กุรุฯ
4 And Jesus answered him: “Scripture says — ‘It is not on bread alone that man is to live.’”
ตทา ยีศุรุวาจ, ลิปิรีทฺฤศี วิทฺยเต มนุช: เกวเลน ปูเปน น ชีวติ กินฺตฺวีศฺวรสฺย สรฺวฺวาภิราชฺญาภิ รฺชีวติฯ
5 And the Devil led Jesus up, and showing him in a single moment all the kingdoms of the earth, said to him:
ตทา ไศตานฺ ตมุจฺจํ ปรฺวฺวตํ นีตฺวา นิมิไษกมเธฺย ชคต: สรฺวฺวราชฺยานิ ทรฺศิตวานฺฯ
6 “I will give you all this power, and the splendour of them; for it has been given into my hands and I give it to whom I wish.
ปศฺจาตฺ ตมวาทีตฺ สรฺวฺวมฺ เอตทฺ วิภวํ ปฺรตาปญฺจ ตุภฺยํ ทาสฺยามิ ตนฺ มยิ สมรฺปิตมาเสฺต ยํ ปฺรติ มเมจฺฉา ชายเต ตไสฺม ทาตุํ ศกฺโนมิ,
7 If you, therefore, will do homage before me, it shall all be yours.”
ตฺวํ เจนฺมำ ภชเส ตรฺหิ สรฺวฺวเมตตฺ ตไวว ภวิษฺยติฯ
8 And Jesus answered him: “Scripture says — ‘Thou shalt do homage to the Lord thy God, and worship him only.’”
ตทา ยีศุสฺตํ ปฺรตฺยุกฺตวานฺ ทูรี ภว ไศตานฺ ลิปิราเสฺต, นิชํ ปฺรภุํ ปรเมศฺวรํ ภชสฺว เกวลํ ตเมว เสวสฺว จฯ
9 The Devil next led him into Jerusalem, and, placing him on the parapet of the Temple, said: “If you are God’s Son throw yourself down from here,
อถ ไศตานฺ ตํ ยิรูศาลมํ นีตฺวา มนฺทิรสฺย จูฑายา อุปริ สมุปเวศฺย ชคาท ตฺวํ เจทีศฺวรสฺย ปุตฺรสฺตรฺหิ สฺถานาทิโต ลมฺผิตฺวาธ:
10 for Scripture says — ‘He will give his angels commands about thee, to guard thee safely,’
ปต ยโต ลิปิราเสฺต, อาชฺญาปยิษฺยติ สฺวียานฺ ทูตานฺ ส ปรเมศฺวร: ฯ
11 And ‘On their hands they will upbear thee, Lest ever thou shouldst strike thy foot against a stone.’”
รกฺษิตุํ สรฺวฺวมารฺเค ตฺวำ เตน ตฺวจฺจรเณ ยถาฯ น ลเคตฺ ปฺรสฺตราฆาตสฺตฺวำ ธริษฺยนฺติ เต ตถาฯ
12 But Jesus answered him: “It is said — ‘Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.’”
ตทา ยีศุนา ปฺรตฺยุกฺตมฺ อิทมปฺยุกฺตมสฺติ ตฺวํ สฺวปฺรภุํ ปเรศํ มา ปรีกฺษสฺวฯ
13 When he had tried every kind of temptation, the Devil left Jesus, till another opportunity.
ปศฺจาตฺ ไศตานฺ สรฺวฺวปรีกฺษำ สมาปฺย กฺษณาตฺตํ ตฺยกฺตฺวา ยเยาฯ
14 Moved by the power of the Spirit, Jesus returned to Galilee. Reports about him spread through all that neighbourhood;
ตทา ยีศุราตฺมปฺรภาวาตฺ ปุนรฺคาลีลฺปฺรเทศํ คตสฺตทา ตตฺสุขฺยาติศฺจตุรฺทิศํ วฺยานเศฯ
15 and he began to teach in their Synagogues, and was honoured by everyone.
ส เตษำ ภชนคฺฤเหษุ อุปทิศฺย สรฺไวฺว: ปฺรศํสิโต พภูวฯ
16 Coming to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, Jesus, as was his custom, went on the Sabbath into the Synagogue, and stood up to read the Scriptures.
อถ ส สฺวปาลนสฺถานํ นาสรตฺปุรเมตฺย วิศฺรามวาเร สฺวาจาราทฺ ภชนเคหํ ปฺรวิศฺย ปฐิตุมุตฺตเสฺถาฯ
17 The book given him was that of the Prophet Isaiah; and Jesus opened the book and found the place where it says —
ตโต ยิศยิยภวิษฺยทฺวาทิน: ปุสฺตเก ตสฺย กรทตฺเต สติ ส ตตฺ ปุสฺตกํ วิสฺตารฺยฺย ยตฺร วกฺษฺยมาณานิ วจนานิ สนฺติ ตตฺ สฺถานํ ปฺราปฺย ปปาฐฯ
18 ‘The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, For he has consecrated me to bring Good News to the poor, He has sent me to proclaim release to captives and restoration of sight to the blind, To set the oppressed at liberty,
อาตฺมา ตุ ปรเมศสฺย มทีโยปริ วิทฺยเตฯ ทริเทฺรษุ สุสํวาทํ วกฺตุํ มำ โสภิษิกฺตวานฺฯ ภคฺนานฺต: กรณาโลฺลกานฺ สุสฺวสฺถานฺ กรฺตฺตุเมว จฯ พนฺทีกฺฤเตษุ โลเกษุ มุกฺเต โรฺฆษยิตุํ วจ: ฯ เนตฺราณิ ทาตุมนฺเธภฺยสฺตฺราตุํ พทฺธชนานปิฯ
19 to proclaim the accepted year of the Lord.’
ปเรศานุคฺรเห กาลํ ปฺรจารยิตุเมว จฯ สรฺไวฺวตตฺกรณารฺถาย มาเมว ปฺรหิโณติ ส: ๚
20 Then, closing the book and returning it to the attendant, he sat down. The eyes of all in the Synagogue were fixed upon him,
ตต: ปุสฺตกํ พทฺวฺวา ปริจารกสฺย หเสฺต สมรฺปฺย จาสเน สมุปวิษฺฏ: , ตโต ภชนคฺฤเห ยาวนฺโต โลกา อาสนฺ เต สรฺเวฺว'นนฺยทฺฤษฺฏฺยา ตํ วิลุโลกิเรฯ
21 and Jesus began: “This very day this passage has been fulfilled in your hearing.”
อนนฺตรมฺ อไทฺยตานิ สรฺวฺวาณิ ลิขิตวจนานิ ยุษฺมากํ มเธฺย สิทฺธานิ ส อิมำ กถำ เตภฺย: กถยิตุมาเรเภฯ
22 All who were present spoke well of him, and were astonished at the beautiful words that fell from his lips. “Is not he Joseph’s son?” they asked.
ตต: สรฺเวฺว ตสฺมินฺ อนฺวรชฺยนฺต, กิญฺจ ตสฺย มุขานฺนิรฺคตาภิรนุคฺรหสฺย กถาภิศฺจมตฺกฺฤตฺย กถยามาสุ: กิมยํ ยูษผ: ปุโตฺร น?
23 “Doubtless,” said Jesus, “you will remind me of the saying — ‘Doctor, cure yourself;’ and you will say ‘Do here in your own country all that we have heard that has been done at Capernaum.’
ตทา โส'วาทีทฺ เห จิกิตฺสก สฺวเมว สฺวสฺถํ กุรุ กผรฺนาหูมิ ยทฺยตฺ กฺฤตวานฺ ตทเศฺราษฺม ตา: สรฺวา: กฺริยา อตฺร สฺวเทเศ กุรุ กถาเมตำ ยูยเมวาวศฺยํ มำ วทิษฺยถฯ
24 I tell you,” he continued, “that no Prophet is acceptable in his own country.
ปุน: โสวาทีทฺ ยุษฺมานหํ ยถารฺถํ วทามิ, โกปิ ภวิษฺยทฺวาที สฺวเทเศ สตฺการํ น ปฺราปฺโนติฯ
25 There were, doubtless, many widows in Israel in Elijah’s days, when the heavens were closed for three years and six months, and a severe famine prevailed throughout the country;
อปรญฺจ ยถารฺถํ วจฺมิ, เอลิยสฺย ชีวนกาเล ยทา สารฺทฺธตฺริตยวรฺษาณิ ยาวตฺ ชลทปฺรติพนฺธาตฺ สรฺวฺวสฺมินฺ เทเศ มหาทุรฺภิกฺษมฺ อชนิษฺฏ ตทานีมฺ อิสฺราเยโล เทศสฺย มเธฺย พหฺโวฺย วิธวา อาสนฺ,
26 and yet it was not to one of them that Elijah was sent, but to a widow at Zarephath in Sidonia.
กินฺตุ สีโทนฺปฺรเทศียสาริผตฺปุรนิวาสินีมฺ เอกำ วิธวำ วินา กสฺยาศฺจิทปิ สมีเป เอลิย: เปฺรริโต นาภูตฺฯ
27 And there were many lepers in Israel in the time of the Prophet Elisha, yet it was not one of them who was made clean, but Naaman the Syrian.”
อปรญฺจ อิลีศายภวิษฺยทฺวาทิวิทฺยมานตากาเล อิสฺราเยลฺเทเศ พหว: กุษฺฐิน อาสนฺ กินฺตุ สุรียเทศียํ นามานฺกุษฺฐินํ วินา โกปฺยนฺย: ปริษฺกฺฤโต นาภูตฺฯ
28 All the people in the Synagogue, as they listened to this, became enraged.
อิมำ กถำ ศฺรุตฺวา ภชนเคหสฺถิตา โลกา: สโกฺรธมฺ อุตฺถาย
29 Starting up, they drove Jesus out of the town, and led him to the brow of the hill on which their town stood, intending to hurl him down.
นคราตฺตํ พหิษฺกฺฤตฺย ยสฺย ศิขริณ อุปริ เตษำ นครํ สฺถาปิตมาเสฺต ตสฺมานฺนิกฺเษปฺตุํ ตสฺย ศิขรํ ตํ นินฺยุ:
30 But he passed through the middle of the crowd and went on his way.
กินฺตุ ส เตษำ มธฺยาทปสฺฤตฺย สฺถานานฺตรํ ชคามฯ
31 Then Jesus went down to Capernaum, a city in Galilee. On the Sabbath he taught the people.
ตต: ปรํ ยีศุรฺคาลีลฺปฺรเทศียกผรฺนาหูมฺนคร อุปสฺถาย วิศฺรามวาเร โลกานุปเทษฺฏุมฺ อารพฺธวานฺฯ
32 They were amazed at his teaching, because his words were spoken with authority.
ตทุปเทศาตฺ สรฺเวฺว จมจฺจกฺรุ รฺยตสฺตสฺย กถา คุรุตรา อาสนฺฯ
33 In the Synagogue there was a man with the spirit of a foul demon in him, who called out loudly:
ตทานีํ ตทฺภชนเคหสฺถิโต'เมธฺยภูตคฺรสฺต เอโก ชน อุจฺไจ: กถยามาส,
34 “Stop! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are — the Holy One of God!”
เห นาสรตียยีโศ'สฺมานฺ ตฺยช, ตฺวยา สหาสฺมากํ ก: สมฺพนฺธ: ? กิมสฺมานฺ วินาศยิตุมายาสิ? ตฺวมีศฺวรสฺย ปวิโตฺร ชน เอตทหํ ชานามิฯ
35 But Jesus rebuked the demon. “Be silent! Come out from him,” he said. The demon flung the man down in the middle of the people, and then came out from him, without causing him further harm.
ตทา ยีศุสฺตํ ตรฺชยิตฺวาวทตฺ เมานี ภว อิโต พหิรฺภว; ตต: โสเมธฺยภูตสฺตํ มธฺยสฺถาเน ปาตยิตฺวา กิญฺจิทปฺยหึสิตฺวา ตสฺมาทฺ พหิรฺคตวานฺฯ
36 And they were all lost in amazement, and kept saying to one another: “What words are these? For he gives his commands to the foul spirits with a marvellous authority, and they come out.”
ตต: สรฺเวฺว โลกาศฺจมตฺกฺฤตฺย ปรสฺปรํ วกฺตุมาเรภิเร โกยํ จมตฺการ: ฯ เอษ ปฺรภาเวณ ปรากฺรเมณ จาเมธฺยภูตานฺ อาชฺญาปยติ เตไนว เต พหิรฺคจฺฉนฺติฯ
37 And rumours about Jesus traveled through every place in the neighbourhood.
อนนฺตรํ จตุรฺทิกฺสฺถเทศานฺ ตสฺย สุขฺยาติรฺวฺยาปฺโนตฺฯ
38 On leaving the Synagogue, Jesus went into Simon’s house. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a severe attack of fever, and they asked Jesus to cure her.
ตทนนฺตรํ ส ภชนเคหาทฺ พหิราคตฺย ศิโมโน นิเวศนํ ปฺรวิเวศ ตทา ตสฺย ศฺวศฺรูรฺชฺวเรณาตฺยนฺตํ ปีฑิตาสีตฺ ศิษฺยาสฺตทรฺถํ ตสฺมินฺ วินยํ จกฺรุ: ฯ
39 Bending over her, he rebuked the fever; the fever left her, and she immediately got up and began to wait upon them.
ตต: ส ตสฺยา: สมีเป สฺถิตฺวา ชฺวรํ ตรฺชยามาส เตไนว ตำ ชฺวโร'ตฺยากฺษีตฺ ตต: สา ตตฺกฺษณมฺ อุตฺถาย ตานฺ สิเษเวฯ
40 At sunset, all who had friends suffering from various diseases took them to Jesus; and he placed his hands upon every one of them and cured them.
อถ สูรฺยฺยาสฺตกาเล เสฺวษำ เย เย ชนา นานาโรไค: ปีฑิตา อาสนฺ โลกาสฺตานฺ ยีโศ: สมีปมฺ อานินฺยุ: , ตทา ส เอไกกสฺย คาเตฺร กรมรฺปยิตฺวา ตานโรคานฺ จการฯ
41 And even demons came out from many people, screaming ‘You are the Son of God.’ Jesus rebuked them, and would not allow them to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.
ตโต ภูตา พหุโภฺย นิรฺคตฺย จีตฺศพฺทํ กฺฤตฺวา จ พภาษิเร ตฺวมีศฺวรสฺย ปุโตฺร'ภิษิกฺตตฺราตา; กินฺตุ โสภิษิกฺตตฺราเตติ เต วิวิทุเรตสฺมาตฺ การณาตฺ ตานฺ ตรฺชยิตฺวา ตทฺวกฺตุํ นิษิเษธฯ
42 At daybreak, Jesus went out and walked to a lonely spot. But crowds of people began to look for him; and they came to where he was and tried to detain him and prevent his leaving them.
อปรญฺจ ปฺรภาเต สติ ส วิชนสฺถานํ ปฺรตเสฺถ ปศฺจาตฺ ชนาสฺตมนฺวิจฺฉนฺตสฺตนฺนิกฏํ คตฺวา สฺถานานฺตรคมนารฺถํ ตมนฺวรุนฺธนฺฯ
43 Jesus, however, said to them: “I must take the Good News of the Kingdom of God to the other town also, for that was why I was sent.”
กินฺตุ ส ตานฺ ชคาท, อีศฺวรียราชฺยสฺย สุสํวาทํ ปฺรจารยิตุมฺ อนฺยานิ ปุราณฺยปิ มยา ยาตวฺยานิ ยตสฺตทรฺถเมว เปฺรริโตหํฯ
44 And he continued to make his proclamation in the Synagogues of Judea.
อถ คาลีโล ภชนเคเหษุ ส อุปทิเทศฯ
