Job 9
1 Then Job answered and said,
Y respondió Job, y dijo:
2 I know [it to be] so of a truth: but how should man be just with God?
Ciertamente yo conozco que es así; ¿y cómo se justificará el hombre con Dios?
3 If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand.
Si quisiere contender con él, no le podrá responder a una cosa de mil.
4 [He is] wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened [himself] against him, and hath prospered?
El es sabio de corazón, y fuerte en fuerza, ¿quién se endureció contra él, y quedó en paz?
5 Who removeth the mountains, and they know not: who overturneth them in his anger.
Que arranca los montes con su furor, y no conocen quién los trastornó;
6 Who shaketh the earth out of her place, and its pillars tremble.
que remueve la tierra de su lugar, y hace temblar sus columnas;
7 Who commandeth the sun, and it riseth not; and sealeth up the stars.
que manda al sol, y no sale; y sella las estrellas.
8 Who alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea.
El solo extiende los cielos, y anda sobre las alturas del mar.
9 Who maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south.
El que hizo la Osa, y el Orión, y las Pléyades, y los lugares secretos del mediodía;
10 Who doeth great things past finding out; yes, and wonders without number.
el que hace cosas grandes e incomprensibles, y maravillosas, sin número.
11 Lo, he goeth by me, and I see [him] not: he passeth on also, but I perceive him not.
He aquí que él pasará delante de mí, y yo no lo veré; y pasará, y no lo entenderé.
12 Behold, he taketh away, who can hinder him? who will say to him, What doest thou?
He aquí, arrebatará; ¿quién le hará restituir? ¿Quién le dirá: Qué haces?
13 [If] God will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers do stoop under him.
Dios no tornará atrás su ira, y debajo de él se encorvan los que ayudan a la soberbia.
14 How much less shall I answer him, [and] choose out my words [to reason] with him?
¿Cuánto menos le responderé yo, y eligiré mis palabras con él?
15 Whom, though I were righteous, [yet] would I not answer, [but] I would make supplication to my judge.
Que aunque yo sea justo, no responderé; antes habré de rogar a mi juez.
16 If I had called, and he had answered me; [yet] I would not believe that he had hearkened to my voice.
Que si yo le invocase, y él me respondiese, aún no creeré que haya escuchado mi voz.
17 For he breaketh me with a tempest, and multiplieth my wounds without cause.
Porque me ha quebrado con tempestad, y ha aumentado mis heridas sin causa.
18 He will not suffer me to take my breath, but filleth me with bitterness.
Que aún no me ha concedido que tome mi aliento; mas me ha llenado de amarguras.
19 If [I speak] of strength, lo, [he is] strong: and if of judgment, who shall set me a time [to plead]?
Si habláramos de su potencia, fuerte por cierto es; si de su juicio, ¿quién me emplazará?
20 If I justify myself, my own mouth will condemn me: [if I say], I [am] perfect, that also will prove me perverse.
Si yo me justificare, me condenará mi boca; si me predicare perfecto, él me hará inicuo.
21 [Though] I [were] perfect, [yet] would I not know my soul: I would despise my life.
Si yo me predicare imperfecto, no conozco mi alma; condenaré mi vida.
22 This [is] one [thing], therefore I said [it], he destroyeth the perfect and the wicked.
Una cosa resta es a saber que yo diga: Al perfecto y al impío él los consume.
23 If the scourge shall slay suddenly, he will laugh at the trial of the innocent.
Si es azote, mate de presto, y no se ría de la prueba de los inocentes.
24 The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of its judges; if not, where, [and] who [is] he?
La tierra es entregada en manos de los impíos, y él cubre el rostro de sus jueces. Si no es él el que lo hace, ¿quién es? ¿Dónde está?
25 Now my days are swifter than a post: they flee away, they see no good.
Mis días han sido más ligeros que un correo; huyeron, y nunca vieron bien.
26 They are passed away as the swift ships: as the eagle [that] hasteth to the prey.
Pasaron con los navíos de Ebeh; o como el águila que se arroja a la presa.
27 If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will leave off my heaviness, and comfort [myself]:
Si digo: Quiero olvidar mi queja, dejaré mi aburrimiento, y me esforzaré.
28 I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that thou wilt not hold me innocent.
Temo todos mis trabajos; sé que no me perdonarás.
29 [If] I am wicked, why then do I labor in vain?
Si yo soy impío, ¿para qué trabajaré en vano?
30 If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean;
Aunque me lave con aguas de nieve, y aunque limpie mis manos con la misma limpieza,
31 Yet wilt thou plunge me in the ditch, and my own clothes shall abhor me.
aún me hundirás en el hoyo; y mis propios vestidos me abominarán.
32 For [he is] not a man, as I [am], [that] I should answer him, [and] we should come together in judgment.
Porque no es hombre como yo, para que yo le responda, y vengamos juntamente a juicio.
33 Neither is there any judge between us, [that] might lay his hand upon us both.
No hay entre nosotros árbitro que ponga su mano sobre nosotros ambos.
34 Let him take away his rod from me, and let not his fear terrify me:
Quite de sobre mí su verdugo, y su terror no me perturbe.
35 [Then] would I speak, and not fear him; but [it is] not so with me.
Y hablaré, y no le temeré; porque en este estado no estoy en mí.
