2 Kings 20
1 In those days Hezekiah was sick and dying. Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said to him, “The LORD says, ‘Set your house in order; for you will die, and not live.’”
En ces jours-là, Ézéchias était malade et mourant. Le prophète Ésaïe, fils d'Amoz, vint le trouver et lui dit: « Yahvé dit: « Mets en ordre ta maison, car tu vas mourir et tu ne vivras pas. »
2 Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed to the LORD, saying,
Et il tourna son visage vers la muraille et pria Yahvé, en disant:
3 “Remember now, LORD, I beg you, how I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in your sight.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
« Souviens-toi maintenant, Yahvé, je t'en supplie, comment j'ai marché devant toi dans la vérité et avec un cœur parfait, et comment j'ai fait ce qui est bon à tes yeux. » Et Ézéchias pleura amèrement.
4 Before Isaiah had gone out into the middle part of the city, the LORD’s word came to him, saying,
Avant qu'Ésaïe ne soit sorti au milieu de la ville, la parole de Yahvé lui fut adressée en ces termes:
5 “Turn back, and tell Hezekiah the prince of my people, ‘The LORD, the God of David your father, says, “I have heard your prayer. I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you. On the third day, you will go up to the LORD’s house.
« Retourne, et dis à Ézéchias, prince de mon peuple: « Yahvé, le Dieu de David, ton père, dit: « J'ai entendu ta prière. J'ai vu tes larmes. Voici que je vais te guérir. Le troisième jour, tu monteras à la maison de l'Éternel.
6 I will add to your days fifteen years. I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.”’”
J'ajouterai quinze ans à tes jours. Je te délivrerai, toi et cette ville, de la main du roi d'Assyrie. Je défendrai cette ville à cause de moi et à cause de mon serviteur David. »'"
7 Isaiah said, “Take a cake of figs.” They took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.
Ésaïe a dit: « Prends un gâteau de figues. » Ils l'ont pris et l'ont mis sur le furoncle, et il a récupéré.
8 Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “What will be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I will go up to the LORD’s house the third day?”
Ézéchias dit à Ésaïe: « Quel sera le signe que Yahvé me guérira et que je monterai à la maison de Yahvé le troisième jour? »
9 Isaiah said, “This will be the sign to you from the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he has spoken: should the shadow go forward ten steps, or go back ten steps?”
Ésaïe dit: « Voici le signe que vous donnera Yahvé, que Yahvé accomplira ce qu'il a dit: l'ombre doit-elle avancer de dix pas ou reculer de dix pas? ».
10 Hezekiah answered, “It is a light thing for the shadow to go forward ten steps. No, but let the shadow return backward ten steps.”
Ézéchias répondit: « C'est une chose légère que l'ombre avance de dix pas. Non, mais que l'ombre revienne en arrière de dix pas. »
11 Isaiah the prophet cried to the LORD; and he brought the shadow ten steps backward, by which it had gone down on the sundial of Ahaz.
Le prophète Ésaïe cria à Yahvé, et il fit reculer de dix pas l'ombre qui était descendue sur le cadran d'Achaz.
12 At that time Berodach Baladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah, for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.
En ce temps-là, Berodach Baladan, fils de Baladan, roi de Babylone, envoya des lettres et un présent à Ézéchias, car il avait appris qu'Ézéchias était malade.
13 Hezekiah listened to them, and showed them all the storehouse of his precious things—the silver, the gold, the spices, and the precious oil, and the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures. There was nothing in his house, or in all his dominion, that Hezekiah didn’t show them.
Ézéchias les écouta et leur montra tout le dépôt de ses objets précieux, l'argent, l'or, les aromates, l'huile précieuse, la maison de ses armures et tout ce qui se trouvait dans ses trésors. Il n'y avait rien dans sa maison, ni dans toute sa domination, qu'Ézéchias ne leur ait montré.
14 Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah, and said to him, “What did these men say? From where did they come to you?” Hezekiah said, “They have come from a far country, even from Babylon.”
Alors Ésaïe, le prophète, vint auprès du roi Ézéchias et lui dit: « Qu'ont dit ces hommes? D'où sont-ils venus vers toi? » Ezéchias dit: « Ils viennent d'un pays lointain, même de Babylone. »
15 He said, “What have they seen in your house?” Hezekiah answered, “They have seen all that is in my house. There is nothing amongst my treasures that I have not shown them.”
Il dit: « Qu'ont-ils vu dans ta maison? » Ézéchias répondit: « Ils ont vu tout ce qui est dans ma maison. Il n'y a rien parmi mes trésors que je ne leur aie montré. »
16 Isaiah said to Hezekiah, “Hear the LORD’s word.
Ésaïe dit à Ézéchias: « Écoute la parole de Yahvé.
17 ‘Behold, the days come that all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have laid up in store to this day, will be carried to Babylon. Nothing will be left,’ says the LORD.
Voici, les jours viennent où tout ce qui est dans ta maison, et ce que tes pères ont amassé jusqu'à ce jour, sera emporté à Babylone. Il ne restera rien, dit Yahvé.
18 ‘They will take away some of your sons who will issue from you, whom you will father; and they will be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.’”
Ils prendront quelques-uns de tes fils qui sortiront de toi, que tu auras engendrés, et ils seront eunuques dans le palais du roi de Babylone. »
19 Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The LORD’s word which you have spoken is good.” He said moreover, “Isn’t it so, if peace and truth will be in my days?”
Alors Ézéchias dit à Ésaïe: « La parole de l'Éternel que tu as prononcée est bonne ». Il dit encore: « N'est-ce pas ainsi, si la paix et la vérité seront de mon temps? »
20 Now the rest of the acts of Hezekiah, and all his might, and how he made the pool, and the conduit, and brought water into the city, aren’t they written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
Le reste des actes d'Ézéchias, et toute sa puissance, et comment il fit l'étang, et le conduit, et amena l'eau dans la ville, ne sont-ils pas écrits dans le livre des chroniques des rois de Juda?
21 Hezekiah slept with his fathers, and Manasseh his son reigned in his place.
Ézéchias se coucha avec ses pères, et Manassé, son fils, régna à sa place.
