< Jeremiah 1 >

1 The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, one of the priests who were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin.
Ebigambo ebyayogerwa Yeremiya, mutabani wa Kirukiya, ow’oku bakabona abaali mu Anasosi mu nsi ya Benyamini.
2 The LORD’s word came to him in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.
Mukama Katonda yayogera naye mu mirembe gya Yosiya, kabaka wa Yuda, mutabani wa Amoni, nga yakafugira emyaka kkumi n’esatu,
3 It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, to the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, to the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.
ne mu biro bya Yekoyakimu mutabani wa Yosiya kabaka wa Yuda, okutuusa mu mwezi ogwokutaano, ogw’omwaka ogw’ekkumi n’ogumu ogw’obufuzi bwa Zeddekiya mutabani wa Yosiya kabaka wa Yuda, abantu b’e Yerusaalemi lwe baatwalibwa mu buwaŋŋanguse.
4 Now the LORD’s word came to me, saying,
Ekigambo kya Mukama Katonda ne kinzijira, ng’agamba nti,
5 “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I sanctified you. I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
“Nakumanya bwe nnali sinnakubumba mu lubuto lwa maama wo; nga tonnava mu lubuto n’akutukuza. Nakulonda okubeera nnabbi eri amawanga.”
6 Then I said, “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, I don’t know how to speak; for I am a child.”
Ne ndyoka ŋŋamba nti, “Laba nno, Mukama Katonda! Simanyi kwogera mu bantu, ndi mwana muto.”
7 But the LORD said to me, “Don’t say, ‘I am a child;’ for you must go to whomever I send you, and you must say whatever I command you.
Naye Mukama Katonda n’aŋŋamba nti, “Toyogera nti, ‘Ndi mwana bwana;’ kubanga yonna gye nnaakutumanga gy’onoogendanga, era byonna bye nnaakulagiranga by’onooyogeranga.
8 Don’t be afraid because of them, for I am with you to rescue you,” says the LORD.
Tobatyanga, kubanga nze ndi naawe okukuwonya,” bw’ayogera Mukama Katonda.
9 Then the LORD stretched out his hand and touched my mouth. Then the LORD said to me, “Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.
Awo Mukama Katonda n’agolola omukono gwe, n’akwata ku mimwa gyange, n’aŋŋamba, nti, “Wuliriza. Nkuwa ebigambo by’onooyogeranga.
10 Behold, I have today set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to uproot and to tear down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.”
Leero nkutaddewo okuba n’obuyinza ku mawanga era ne ku bwakabaka. Okusimbula n’okumenya, okuzikiriza n’okuwamba; okuzimba n’okusimba.”
11 Moreover the LORD’s word came to me, saying, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” I said, “I see a branch of an almond tree.”
Ekigambo kya Mukama Katonda ate ne kinzijira nga kigamba nti, “Yeremiya kiki ekyo ky’olaba?” Ne ŋŋamba nti, “Ndaba ettabi ly’omuti ogw’omulozi.”
12 Then the LORD said to me, “You have seen well; for I watch over my word to perform it.”
Awo Mukama Katonda n’aŋŋamba nti, “Olabye bulungi, kubanga neetegereza ndabe ng’ekigambo kyange kituukirira.”
13 The LORD’s word came to me the second time, saying, “What do you see?” I said, “I see a boiling cauldron; and it is tipping away from the north.”
Ekigambo kya Mukama Katonda ne kinzijjira nate nti, “Kiki ky’olaba, kaakano?” Ne ŋŋamba nti, “Ndaba ensuwa ey’amazzi ageesera, ng’etunudde waggulu mu bukiikakkono.”
14 Then the LORD said to me, “Out of the north, evil will break out on all the inhabitants of the land.
Awo Mukama Katonda n’aŋŋamba nti, “Okuzikirira kujja kubaawo nga kutandikira mu bukiikakkono kutuuke ku bantu bonna abali mu ggwanga.
15 For behold, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north,” says the LORD. “They will come, and they will each set his throne at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all its walls all around, and against all the cities of Judah.
Kubanga laba nnaatera okuyita abantu bonna ab’omu bwakabaka obuli mu bukiikakkono,” bw’ayogera Mukama Katonda. Bakabaka baabwe balyoke bajje bateeke entebe zaabwe ez’obwakabaka mu miryango egiyingira ekibuga Yerusaalemi, balizinda bbugwe waakyo yenna era bazinde n’ebibuga byonna ebya Yuda.
16 I will utter my judgements against them concerning all their wickedness, in that they have forsaken me, and have burnt incense to other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands.
Era ndibonereza abantu bange olw’ebibi byabwe byonna, kubanga banvaako ne booteeza obubaane eri bakatonda abalala, era ne basinza ebibajje bye beekolera n’emikono gyabwe.
17 “You therefore put your belt on your waist, arise, and say to them all that I command you. Don’t be dismayed at them, lest I dismay you before them.
“Naye ggwe weetegeke! Yimirira obabuulire byonna bye nkulagira. Tobatya kubanga bw’onoobatya nzija kubakutiisa.
18 For behold, I have made you today a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls against the whole land—against the kings of Judah, against its princes, against its priests, and against the people of the land.
Kubanga leero nze nkufudde ekibuga ekiriko enkomera ez’amaanyi, era empagi ey’ekyuma, era bbugwe ow’ekikomo eri ensi yonna, eri bakabaka ba Yuda, eri abakungu baayo, ne bakabona n’abantu ab’omu nsi.
19 They will fight against you, but they will not prevail against you; for I am with you”, says the LORD, “to rescue you.”
Balirwana naawe naye tebalikuwangula; kubanga nze ndi wamu naawe okukununula,” bw’ayogera Mukama Katonda.
