John 9
1 As he passed by, he saw a man blind from birth.
Cuando pasaba, [Jesús] vio a un hombre ciego de nacimiento.
2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
Sus discípulos le preguntaron: Maestro, ¿quién pecó, éste o sus padres, para que naciera ciego?
3 Jesus answered, “This man didn’t sin, nor did his parents, but that the works of God might be revealed in him.
Jesús respondió: No pecó éste ni sus padres, sino [está ciego] para que las obras de Dios se manifiesten en él.
4 I must work the works of him who sent me while it is day. The night is coming, when no one can work.
Mientras es día nos es necesario realizar las obras del que me envió. Viene [la] noche cuando nadie puede trabajar.
5 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
Mientras [Yo] esté en el mundo, soy [la] Luz del mundo.
6 When he had said this, he spat on the ground, made mud with the saliva, anointed the blind man’s eyes with the mud,
Después de decir esto escupió en la tierra, hizo barro con la saliva, untó el barro sobre los ojos [del ciego]
7 and said to him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam” (which means “Sent”). So he went away, washed, and came back seeing.
y le dijo: Vé, lávate en el estanque de Siloé, que significa enviado. [El ciego] fue, se lavó y cuando regresó veía.
8 Therefore the neighbors and those who saw that he was blind before said, “Isn’t this he who sat and begged?”
Los vecinos y los que antes veían que era un mendigo, decían: ¿No es éste el que se sentaba y mendigaba?
9 Others were saying, “It is he.” Still others were saying, “He looks like him.” He said, “I am he.”
Otros decían: Éste es. Y otros: No, pero se le parece. Él decía: Soy yo.
10 They therefore were asking him, “How were your eyes opened?”
Entonces le preguntaron: ¿Cómo te fueron abiertos los ojos?
11 He answered, “A man called Jesus made mud, anointed my eyes, and said to me, ‘Go to the pool of Siloam and wash.’ So I went away and washed, and I received sight.”
Él respondió: El hombre que se llama Jesús hizo barro, me untó los ojos y me dijo: Vé al Siloé y lávate. Por tanto fui, me lavé y vi.
12 Then they asked him, “Where is he?” He said, “I don’t know.”
Le preguntaron: ¿Dónde está Él? Contestó: No sé.
13 They brought him who had been blind to the Pharisees.
Entonces llevaron al que había sido ciego ante los fariseos,
14 It was a Sabbath when Jesus made the mud and opened his eyes.
porque el día cuando Jesús hizo barro y le abrió los ojos era sábado.
15 Again therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he received his sight. He said to them, “He put mud on my eyes, I washed, and I see.”
Otra vez los fariseos le preguntaron como vio. Y él les respondió: Me puso barro sobre los ojos, me lavé y veo.
16 Some therefore of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, because he doesn’t keep the Sabbath.” Others said, “How can a man who is a sinner do such signs?” So there was division among them.
Entonces algunos de los fariseos decían: Este hombre no es de Dios, porque no guarda el sábado. Otros preguntaban: ¿Cómo puede un hombre pecador hacer señales como éstas? Y había división entre ellos.
17 Therefore they asked the blind man again, “What do you say about him, because he opened your eyes?” He said, “He is a prophet.”
Volvieron a preguntar al que había sido ciego: ¿Tú qué dices del que te abrió los ojos? Él respondió: Que es profeta.
18 The Jews therefore didn’t believe concerning him, that he had been blind and had received his sight, until they called the parents of him who had received his sight,
Pero los judíos no creyeron que él había sido ciego y que vio. Por tanto llamaron a los padres del que vio
19 and asked them, “Is this your son, whom you say was born blind? How then does he now see?”
y les preguntaron: ¿Éste es su hijo de quien ustedes dicen que nació ciego? ¿Cómo ve ahora?
20 His parents answered them, “We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind;
Entonces sus padres respondieron: Sabemos que éste es nuestro hijo y que nació ciego.
21 but how he now sees, we don’t know; or who opened his eyes, we don’t know. He is of age. Ask him. He will speak for himself.”
Pero cómo ve ahora, no lo sabemos. Quién le abrió los ojos, no lo sabemos. Pregúntenle, tiene edad. Él hablará por él mismo.
22 His parents said these things because they feared the Jews; for the Jews had already agreed that if any man would confess him as Christ, he would be put out of the synagogue.
Sus padres dijeron esto porque temían a los judíos, pues estos ya habían acordado que si alguno lo confesaba como el Cristo, fuera expulsado de la congregación.
23 Therefore his parents said, “He is of age. Ask him.”
Por esto sus padres dijeron: Tiene edad, pregúntenle.
24 So they called the man who was blind a second time, and said to him, “Give glory to God. We know that this man is a sinner.”
Llamaron por segunda vez al hombre que había sido ciego, y le dijeron: ¡Da gloria a Dios! Nosotros sabemos que este hombre es pecador.
25 He therefore answered, “I don’t know if he is a sinner. One thing I do know: that though I was blind, now I see.”
Entonces él respondió: Si es pecador, no lo sé. Una cosa sé: Que yo era ciego y ahora veo.
26 They said to him again, “What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?”
Insistieron: ¿Qué te hizo? ¿Cómo te abrió los ojos?
27 He answered them, “I told you already, and you didn’t listen. Why do you want to hear it again? You don’t also want to become his disciples, do you?”
Les respondió: Ya les dije y no escucharon. ¿Por qué quieren oír otra vez? ¿También ustedes quieren ser sus discípulos?
28 They insulted him and said, “You are his disciple, but we are disciples of Moses.
Lo insultaron: ¡Tú eres discípulo de Él, pero nosotros somos discípulos de Moisés!
29 We know that God has spoken to Moses. But as for this man, we don’t know where he comes from.”
Nosotros sabemos que Dios [le] habló a Moisés, pero no sabemos de dónde es Éste.
30 The man answered them, “How amazing! You don’t know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes.
El hombre respondió: Lo asombroso es que ustedes no sepan de dónde es, y a mí me abrió los ojos.
31 We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does his will, he listens to him.
Sabemos que Dios no oye a pecadores, pero sí oye a quien es temeroso de Él y hace su voluntad.
32 Since the world began it has never been heard of that anyone opened the eyes of someone born blind. (aiōn g165)
Jamás se oyó que alguien abrió los ojos de uno que nació ciego. (aiōn g165)
33 If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.”
Si Éste no viniera de Dios, nada podría hacer.
34 They answered him, “You were altogether born in sins, and do you teach us?” Then they threw him out.
[Ellos] respondieron: Tú naciste completamente en pecados, ¿y nos enseñas? Y lo expulsaron de la congregación.
35 Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and finding him, he said, “Do you believe in the Son of God?”
Jesús oyó que lo expulsaron, y cuando lo halló le preguntó: ¿Crees tú en el Hijo del Hombre?
36 He answered, “Who is he, Lord, that I may believe in him?”
Él respondió: ¿Quién es, Señor, para que crea en Él?
37 Jesus said to him, “You have both seen him, and it is he who speaks with you.”
Jesús le contestó: No solo lo viste. Es el que habla contigo.
38 He said, “Lord, I believe!” and he worshiped him.
Y él dijo: Creo, Señor. Y lo adoró.
39 Jesus said, “I came into this world for judgment, that those who don’t see may see; and that those who see may become blind.”
Jesús dijo: Yo vine a este mundo para juicio, a fin de que los que no ven, vean, y los que ven, sean cegados.
40 Those of the Pharisees who were with him heard these things, and said to him, “Are we also blind?”
[Algunos] fariseos que estaban con Él oyeron esto y le preguntaron: ¿Nosotros también somos ciegos?
41 Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but now you say, ‘We see.’ Therefore your sin remains.
Jesús les respondió: Si fueran ciegos, no tendrían pecado. Pero ahora [porque] dicen que ven, su pecado permanece.
