Luke 14
1 When he went into the house of one of the rulers of the Pharisees on a Sabbath to eat bread, they were watching him.
౧ఒక విశ్రాంతి దినం ఆయన ఒక పరిసయ్యుల అధికారి ఇంట్లో భోజనానికి వెళ్ళాడు. అక్కడ ఆయనను అందరూ గమనిస్తున్నారు.
2 Behold, a certain man who had dropsy was in front of him.
౨అక్కడ వాపు రోగం ఉన్న ఒకడు ఆయనకు ఎదురుగా ఉన్నాడు.
3 Jesus, answering, spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”
౩అప్పుడు యేసు, “విశ్రాంతి దినాన స్వస్థపరచడం న్యాయమా కాదా?” అని ధర్మశాస్త్ర బోధకులనూ పరిసయ్యులనూ అడిగాడు.
4 But they were silent. He took him, and healed him, and let him go.
౪వారు మాట్లాడలేదు. అప్పుడు ఆయన అతణ్ణి దగ్గరికి తీసుకుని అతని రోగం బాగు చేసి పంపించేశాడు.
5 He answered them, “Which of you, if your son or an ox fell into a well, wouldn’t immediately pull him out on a Sabbath day?”
౫“మీలో ఎవరి గాడిదైనా ఎద్దైనా విశ్రాంతి దినాన గుంటలో పడిపోతే దాన్ని బయటకు తీయకుండా ఉంటారా?” అని వారిని అడిగాడు.
6 They couldn’t answer him regarding these things.
౬ఈ ప్రశ్నకు వారు ఆయనకు జవాబేమీ ఇవ్వలేకపోయారు.
7 He spoke a parable to those who were invited, when he noticed how they chose the best seats, and said to them,
౭ఆ విందుకు ఆహ్వానం అందినవారు భోజనపంక్తిలో అగ్ర స్థానాలను ఎన్నుకోవడం చూసి ఆయన ఇలా అన్నాడు,
8 “When you are invited by anyone to a wedding feast, don’t sit in the best seat, since perhaps someone more honorable than you might be invited by him,
౮“నిన్ను ఎవరైనా పెళ్ళి విందుకు పిలిస్తే అక్కడ అగ్ర స్థానంలో కూర్చోవద్దు. ఒకవేళ నీకంటే గొప్పవాణ్ణి అతడు పిలిచి ఉండవచ్చు.
9 and he who invited both of you would come and tell you, ‘Make room for this person.’ Then you would begin, with shame, to take the lowest place.
౯మిమ్మల్నిద్దర్నీ పిలిచినవాడు వచ్చి, ‘ఈయన్ని ఇక్కడ కూర్చోనివ్వు’ అనవచ్చు. అప్పుడు నువ్వు సిగ్గు పడి చివరి స్థానంలో కూర్చోడానికి వెళ్తావు.
10 But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes, he may tell you, ‘Friend, move up higher.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at the table with you.
౧౦కాబట్టి నీకు ఆహ్వానం అందినప్పుడు వెళ్ళి చివరి స్థానంలో కూర్చో. అప్పుడు నిన్ను ఆహ్వానించిన వాడు వచ్చి నీతో ‘మిత్రమా, పై స్థానానికి వెళ్ళు.’ అనవచ్చు. అప్పుడు నీకు అందరి ముందూ గౌరవం కలుగుతుంది.
11 For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.”
౧౧తనను తాను గొప్ప చేసుకునేవాడు తగ్గడం, తగ్గించుకునేవాడు హెచ్చడం జరుగుతుంది.”
12 He also said to the one who had invited him, “When you make a dinner or a supper, don’t call your friends, nor your brothers, nor your kinsmen, nor rich neighbors, or perhaps they might also return the favor, and pay you back.
౧౨తరువాత ఆయన తనను పిలిచిన వ్యక్తితో ఇలా అన్నాడు, “నువ్వు పగలైనా రాత్రి అయినా విందు చేసినప్పుడు నీ స్నేహితులనూ నీ సోదరులనూ నీ బంధువులనూ ధనికులైన నీ పొరుగువారినీ పిలవకు. ఎందుకంటే నువ్వు వారిని పిలిచావు కాబట్టి వారు నిన్ను తిరిగి పిలవవచ్చు. కాబట్టి ఆ విధంగా వారు నీ రుణం తీర్చుకుంటారు.
13 But when you make a feast, ask the poor, the maimed, the lame, or the blind;
౧౩అందుకని నువ్వు విందు చేసినప్పుడు పేదలనూ వికలాంగులనూ కుంటివారినీ గుడ్డివారినీ పిలువు.
14 and you will be blessed, because they don’t have the resources to repay you. For you will be repaid in the resurrection of the righteous.”
౧౪నీకు తిరిగి ఉపకారం చేయడానికి వారి దగ్గరేమీ ఉండదు. కాబట్టి నువ్వు దీవెన పొంది ధన్యుడివి అవుతావు. చనిపోయిన నీతిమంతులు సజీవంగా లేచినప్పుడు నీకు ప్రతిఫలం దొరుకుతుంది” అని చెప్పాడు.
15 When one of those who sat at the table with him heard these things, he said to him, “Blessed is he who will feast in God’s Kingdom!”
౧౫ఆయనతో భోజనానికి కూర్చున్న వారిలో ఒకడు ఈ మాటలు విని, “దేవుని రాజ్యంలో భోజనం చేసేవాడు ధన్యుడు” అని ఆయనతో అన్నాడు.
16 But he said to him, “A certain man made a great supper, and he invited many people.
౧౬అప్పుడు ఆయన అతనితో ఇలా చెప్పాడు, “ఒక మనిషి పెద్ద విందు చేయించి చాలా మందిని పిలిచాడు.
17 He sent out his servant at supper time to tell those who were invited, ‘Come, for everything is ready now.’
౧౭విందుకు వేళయినప్పుడు అతడు ‘ఇప్పుడు విందు సిద్ధంగా ఉంది, రండి’ అని తాను పిలిచిన వారితో చెప్పడానికి తన సేవకుణ్ణి పంపాడు.
18 They all as one began to make excuses. “The first said to him, ‘I have bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please have me excused.’
౧౮అయితే వారంతా ఒక్కపెట్టున సాకులు చెప్పడం మొదలు పెట్టారు. మొదటివాడు ‘నేనొక పొలం కొన్నాను. వెంటనే వెళ్ళి దాన్ని చూసుకోవాలి. నన్ను క్షమించాలని వేడుకుంటున్నాను’ అన్నాడు.
19 “Another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I must go try them out. Please have me excused.’
౧౯మరొకడు ‘నేను ఐదు జతల ఎద్దులు కొన్నాను. ఇప్పుడు నేను వాటిని పరీక్షించడానికి వెళ్తున్నాను. నన్ను క్షమించాలని వేడుకుంటున్నాను’ అన్నాడు.
20 “Another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I can’t come.’
౨౦మరొకడు ‘నేను పెళ్ళి చేసుకున్నాను. కాబట్టి రాలేను’ అన్నాడు.
21 “That servant came, and told his lord these things. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in the poor, maimed, blind, and lame.’
౨౧అప్పుడా పనివాడు తిరిగి వచ్చి ఈ మాటలు తన యజమానికి చెప్పాడు. దాంతో ఆ యజమాని కోపగించుకుని ఆ సేవకుడితో ‘నువ్వు త్వరగా ఊరి వీధుల్లోకీ, సందుల్లోకీ వెళ్ళి అక్కడ ఉన్న పేదలనూ వికలాంగులనూ గుడ్డివారినీ కుంటివారినీ తీసుకుని రా’ అన్నాడు.
22 “The servant said, ‘Lord, it is done as you commanded, and there is still room.’
౨౨తరవాత ఆ పనివాడు వచ్చి ‘ప్రభూ, నువ్వు చెప్పినట్టే చేశాను. కానీ ఇంకా చోటు ఉంది’ అన్నాడు.
23 “The lord said to the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
౨౩అప్పుడు ఆ యజమాని తన సేవకుడితో ‘నా ఇల్లు నిండిపోవాలి. కాబట్టి నువ్వు రాజ మార్గాల్లోకీ, కంచెల్లోకీ వెళ్లి అక్కడి వారిని బలవంతంగా తీసుకురా.
24 For I tell you that none of those men who were invited will taste of my supper. For many are called, but few are chosen.’”
౨౪నేను నీకు చెబుతున్నాను. నేను మొదట పిలిచిన వారిలో ఒక్కడు కూడా నా విందు రుచి చూడడు’” అన్నాడు.
25 Now great multitudes were going with him. He turned and said to them,
౨౫గొప్ప జన సమూహాలు ఆయనతో వస్తూ ఉన్నారు. ఆయన వారి వైపు తిరిగి ఇలా అన్నాడు,
26 “If anyone comes to me, and doesn’t disregard his own father, mother, wife, children, brothers, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he can’t be my disciple.
౨౬“నా దగ్గరికి వచ్చే వాడెవడైనా సరే, తన తండ్రినీ తల్లినీ భార్యనీ పిల్లలనూ అన్నదమ్ములనూ అక్కచెల్లెళ్ళనూ చివరకూ తన ప్రాణాన్ని కూడా ద్వేషించకపోతే వాడు నా శిష్యుడు కాలేడు.
27 Whoever doesn’t bear his own cross and come after me, can’t be my disciple.
౨౭అలాగే తన సిలువను మోసుకుంటూ నా వెనుక రానివాడు నా శిష్యుడు కాలేడు.
28 For which of you, desiring to build a tower, doesn’t first sit down and count the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it?
౨౮“మీలో ఎవరైనా ఒక గోపురం కట్టాలని అనుకుంటే దాన్ని మొదలుపెట్టి కొనసాగించడానికి కావలసింది తన దగ్గర ఉందో లేదో లెక్క చూసుకోడా?
29 Or perhaps, when he has laid a foundation and isn’t able to finish, everyone who sees begins to mock him,
౨౯అలా చూసుకోకుండా మొదలు పెట్టేసి ఆ తరువాత గోపురం పూర్తి చేయలేకపోతే,
30 saying, ‘This man began to build and wasn’t able to finish.’
౩౦చూస్తున్న వారంతా ‘ఈ మనిషి కట్టడం మొదలు పెట్టాడు గానీ ముగించ లేకపోయాడు’ అంటూ వేళాకోళం చేస్తారు.
31 Or what king, as he goes to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?
౩౧“అలాగే ఒక రాజు మరో రాజుపై యుద్ధానికి బయలుదేరినప్పుడు, ఇరవై వేల మంది సైన్యంతో తన మీదికి వస్తున్నవాణ్ణి ఎదుర్కోడానికి తన వద్ద ఉన్న పదివేల మంది సైన్యం సరిపోతుందో లేదో ఆలోచించుకోడా?
32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends an envoy and asks for conditions of peace.
౩౨తన శక్తి చాలదనుకుంటే ఆ రాజు దూరంగా ఉన్నప్పుడే రాయబారం పంపి సంధి చేసుకోడానికి ప్రయత్నిస్తాడు కదా!
33 So therefore, whoever of you who doesn’t renounce all that he has, he can’t be my disciple.
౩౩అదే విధంగా మీలో తనకు ఉన్నదంతా వదులుకోని వాడు నాకు శిష్యుడు కాలేడు.
34 “Salt is good, but if the salt becomes flat and tasteless, with what do you season it?
౩౪“ఉప్పు మంచిదే. అయితే ఉప్పు తన సారాన్ని కోల్పోతే దానికి తిరిగి సారం దేనివల్ల కలుగుతుంది?
35 It is fit neither for the soil nor for the manure pile. It is thrown out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
౩౫అది భూమికి గానీ, ఎరువులా వాడడానికి గానీ పనికిరాదు. కాబట్టి దాన్ని బయట పారవేస్తారు. వినడానికి చెవులున్న వాడు విను గాక.”
