Revelation 21
1 I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth have passed away, and the sea is no more.
Dann sah ich einen neuen Himmel und eine neue Erde. Der erste Himmel und die erste Erde waren vergangen, und auch das Meer ist nicht mehr.
2 I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared like a bride adorned for her husband.
Dann schaute ich die heilige Stadt, das neue Jerusalem, wie es von Gott, vom Himmel niederstieg, ausgestattet wie eine Braut, die sich für ihren Bräutigam geschmückt hat.
3 I heard a loud voice out of heaven saying, “Behold, God’s dwelling is with people; and he will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.
Vom Throne her hörte ich eine laute Stimme rufen: "Siehe, das Gezelt Gottes bei den Menschen; er wird unter ihnen wohnen, sie werden seine Völker sein, und er, Gott selber, wird bei ihnen sein.
4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain any more. The first things have passed away.”
Er wird jede Träne aus ihren Augen wischen; der Tod wird nicht mehr sein, noch Trauer noch Klage noch Mühsal wird sein; das Frühere ist ja vorüber."
5 He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” He said, “Write, for these words of God are faithful and true.”
Der auf dem Throne saß, sprach: "Siehe, ich mache alles neu!" Er fügte noch hinzu: "Schreibe! Diese Worte sind wahr und zuverlässig."
6 He said to me, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give freely to him who is thirsty from the spring of the water of life.
Dann sagte er: "Es ist geschehen. Ich bin das Alpha und das Omega, der Anfang und das Ende. Ich will aus dem Borne des Lebenswassers dem Dürstenden umsonst zu trinken geben.
7 He who overcomes, I will give him these things. I will be his God, and he will be my son.
Wer siegt, soll dieses erben: Ich will ihm Gott sein, er soll mir Sohn sein.
9 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls which were loaded with the seven last plagues came, and he spoke with me, saying, “Come here. I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.”
Da kam einer von den sieben Engeln mit den sieben Schalen, angefüllt mit den sieben letzten Plagen, und sprach zu mir: "Komm, ich will dir die Braut und Gattin des Lammes zeigen."
10 He carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,
Da trug er mich in der Verzückung auf einen großen, hohen Berg und zeigte mir die heilige Stadt Jerusalem, wie sie aus dem Himmel von Gott herniederkam
11 having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;
in Gottes Herrlichkeit. Ihr Glanz war wie der kostbarste Edelstein, wie ein kristallheller Jaspis.
12 having a great and high wall with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel.
Sie hatte eine große, hohe Mauer, zwölf Tore und auf den Toren zwölf Engel und Namen darauf geschrieben: die Namen der zwölf Stämme Israels.
13 On the east were three gates, and on the north three gates, and on the south three gates, and on the west three gates.
Im Osten waren drei Tore, im Norden drei Tore, im Süden drei Tore, im Westen drei Tore.
14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them twelve names of the twelve Apostles of the Lamb.
Die Stadtmauer hatte zwölf Grundsteine, auf denen die zwölf Namen der zwölf Apostel des Lammes geschrieben standen.
15 He who spoke with me had for a measure a golden reed to measure the city, its gates, and its walls.
Der mit mir redete, hatte ein goldenes Meßrohr, um die Stadt, ihre Tore und ihre Mauer auszumessen.
16 The city is square. Its length is as great as its width. He measured the city with the reed: twelve thousand twelve stadia. Its length, width, and height are equal.
Die Stadt ist in einem Viereck angelegt, so lang wie breit. Und er maß mit dem Rohre die Stadt: zwölftausend Stadien; die Länge, Breite, Höhe sind bei ihr ganz gleich.
17 Its wall is one hundred forty-four cubits, by the measure of a man, that is, of an angel.
Er maß auch ihre Mauer: einhundertvierundvierzig Ellen nach dem Maß der Menschen, das auch das der Engel ist.
18 The construction of its wall was jasper. The city was pure gold, like pure glass.
Die Mauer ist aus Jaspis aufgebaut; die Stadt jedoch ist reines Gold, so rein wie Glas.
19 The foundations of the city’s wall were adorned with all kinds of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire; the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald,
Die Grundsteine der Stadtmauer trugen Schmuck aus verschiedenen Edelsteinen: Der erste Grundstein war ein Jaspis, der zweite ein Saphir, der dritte ein Chalzedon, der vierte ein Smaragd,
20 the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.
der fünfte ein Sardonyx, der sechste ein Sardis, der siebente ein Chrysolith, der achte ein Beryll, der neunte ein Topas, der zehnte ein Chrysopras, der elfte ein Hyazinth, der zwölfte ein Amethyst.
21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls. Each one of the gates was made of one pearl. The street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.
Und die zwölf Tore waren aus zwölf Perlen; ein jedes Tor bestand aus einer einzigen Perle. Die Straßen in der Stadt waren aus reinem Golde, wie durchsichtiges Glas.
22 I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.
Doch einen Tempel sah ich nicht darin; denn Gott, der Herr, der Allbeherrscher, sowie das Lamm ist ihr Tempel.
23 The city has no need for the sun or moon to shine, for the very glory of God illuminated it and its lamp is the Lamb.
Die Stadt braucht auch nicht die Sonne noch den Mond, damit sie in ihr scheinen; denn die Herrlichkeit Gottes erhellt sie, und ihre Leuchte ist das Lamm.
24 The nations will walk in its light. The kings of the earth bring the glory and honor of the nations into it.
In ihrem Lichte werden die Völker wandeln; die Könige der Erde werden ihre Herrlichkeit ihr bringen.
25 Its gates will in no way be shut by day (for there will be no night there),
Auch werden ihre Tore tagsüber nie geschlossen werden; denn Nacht gibt es dort nicht.
26 and they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it so that they may enter.
Man wird die Herrlichkeit und den Reichtum der Völker in sie bringen.
27 There will in no way enter into it anything profane, or one who causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
Etwas Gemeines aber wird nicht in sie eingehen, auch nicht, wer Greuel und Lüge tut; nur wer eingetragen ist im Lebensbuch des Lammes.
