2 Corinthians 8

1 Moreover, brothers, we make known to you the grace of God which has been given in the assemblies of Macedonia,

Además, hermanos, os damos a conocer la gracia de Dios que se ha dado en las asambleas de Macedonia,

2 how in a severe ordeal of affliction, the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded to the riches of their generosity.

cómo en una dura prueba de aflicción, la abundancia de su alegría y su profunda pobreza abundaron hasta las riquezas de su generosidad.

3 For according to their power, I testify, yes and beyond their power, they gave of their own accord,

Porque según sus fuerzas, doy fe, sí y más allá de sus fuerzas, dieron de su propia voluntad,

4 begging us with much entreaty to receive this grace and the fellowship in the service to the holy ones.

rogándonos con mucho ruego que recibiéramos esta gracia y la comunión en el servicio a los santos.

5 This was not as we had expected, but first they gave their own selves to the Lord, and to us through the will of God.

Esto no fue como esperábamos, sino que primero se entregaron al Señor y a nosotros por la voluntad de Dios.

6 So we urged Titus, that as he had made a beginning before, so he would also complete in you this grace.

Así pues, exhortamos a Tito a que, de la misma manera que había empezado antes, completara también en vosotros esta gracia.

7 But as you abound in everything—in faith, utterance, knowledge, all earnestness, and in your love to us—see that you also abound in this grace.

Pero así como abundáis en todo — en la fe, en la palabra, en el conocimiento, en toda la seriedad y en vuestro amor hacia nosotros —, procurad también abundar en esta gracia.

8 I speak not by way of commandment, but as proving through the earnestness of others the sincerity also of your love.

No hablo por mandato, sino para probar, por medio de la seriedad de los demás, la sinceridad también de vuestro amor.

9 For you know the grace of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might become rich.

Porque ya conocéis la gracia de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, que siendo rico, se hizo pobre por vosotros, para que por su pobreza os enriquecierais.

10 I give advice in this: it is expedient for you who were the first to start a year ago, not only to do, but also to be willing.

En esto os aconsejo: a vosotros, que fuisteis los primeros en empezar hace un año, os conviene no sólo hacer, sino también estar dispuestos.

11 But now complete the doing also, that as there was the readiness to be willing, so there may be the completion also out of your ability.

Pero ahora completad también el hacer, para que así como hubo disposición de querer, también se complete con vuestra capacidad.

12 For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according to what you have, not according to what you don’t have.

Porque si hay disposición, se acepta según lo que se tiene, no según lo que no se tiene.

13 For this is not that others may be eased and you distressed,

Porque no se trata de que los demás se alivien y vosotros os angusties,

14 but for equality. Your abundance at this present time supplies their lack, that their abundance also may become a supply for your lack, that there may be equality.

sino de la igualdad. Vuestra abundancia en este momento suple la carencia de ellos, para que también la abundancia de ellos llegue a suplir vuestra carencia, a fin de que haya igualdad.

15 As it is written, “He who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack.”

Como está escrito: “Al que recogió mucho no le sobró nada, y al que recogió poco no le faltó”.

16 But thanks be to God, who puts the same earnest care for you into the heart of Titus.

Pero gracias a Dios, que pone en el corazón de Tito el mismo interés por vosotros.

17 For he indeed accepted our exhortation, but being himself very earnest, he went out to you of his own accord.

Pues, si bien aceptó nuestra exhortación, siendo él mismo muy ferviente, salió hacia vosotros por su propia cuenta.

18 We have sent together with him the brother whose praise in the Good News is known throughout all the assemblies.

Hemos enviado junto con él al hermano cuya alabanza en la Buena Nueva es conocida en todas las asambleas.

19 Not only so, but he was also appointed by the assemblies to travel with us in this grace, which is served by us to the glory of the Lord himself, and to show our readiness.

No sólo eso, sino que también fue designado por las asambleas para viajar con nosotros en esta gracia, que es servida por nosotros para gloria del Señor mismo, y para mostrar nuestra disposición.

20 We are avoiding this, that any man should blame us concerning this abundance which is administered by us.

Evitamos esto, para que nadie nos culpe de esta abundancia que es administrada por nosotros.

21 Having regard for honourable things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.

Teniendo en cuenta las cosas honorables, no sólo a los ojos del Señor, sino también a los de los hombres.

22 We have sent with them our brother whom we have many times proved earnest in many things, but now much more earnest, by reason of the great confidence which he has in you.

Hemos enviado con ellos a nuestro hermano, a quien muchas veces hemos demostrado ser diligente en muchas cosas, pero ahora mucho más diligente, a causa de la gran confianza que tiene en vosotros.

23 As for Titus, he is my partner and fellow worker for you. As for our brothers, they are the emissaries of the assemblies, the glory of Messiah.

En cuanto a Tito, es mi compañero y colaborador para vosotros. En cuanto a nuestros hermanos, son los apóstoles de las asambleas, la gloria de Cristo.

24 Therefore show the proof of your love to them before the assemblies, and of our boasting on your behalf.

Mostrad, pues, la prueba de vuestro amor hacia ellos ante las asambleas, y de nuestra jactancia en vuestro favor.
