Acts 10
1 Now there was a certain man in Caesarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment,
在凱撒勒雅有一個人，名叫科爾乃略，是所謂意大利營的百夫長。
2 a devout man, and one who feared God with all his house, who gave gifts for the needy generously to the people, and always prayed to God.
他同他的全家，是虔誠而敬畏天主的人，對百姓慷慨好施，又常向天主祈禱。
3 At about the ninth hour of the day, he clearly saw in a vision an angel of God coming to him and saying to him, “Cornelius!”
有一天，大約第九時辰，他在異像中，清楚看見天主的一位天使進來，到他跟前向他說：「科爾乃略！」
4 He, fastening his eyes on him and being frightened, said, “What is it, Lord?” He said to him, “Your prayers and your gifts to the needy have gone up for a memorial before God.
他注目看天使，就驚惶害怕說：「主，有什麼事﹖」天使回答說：「你的祈禱和施捨已升到天主面前，獲得紀念。
5 Now send men to Joppa, and get Simon, who is also called Peter.
你現在打發人往約培去，請號稱伯多祿的一位西滿來。
6 He is staying with a tanner named Simon, whose house is by the seaside.
這人客居在一個名叫西滿的皮匠家裏，他的房子靠著海。」
7 When the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier of those who waited on him continually.
向他說話的天使一走，他便叫來了兩個家僕和常護衛自己的一個虔誠兵士，
8 Having explained everything to them, he sent them to Joppa.
把一切事告訴了他們，就打發他們往約培去了。
9 Now on the next day as they were on their journey and got close to the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray at about noon.
第二天，他們行路將近城的時候，約在第六個時辰，伯多祿上了屋頂祈禱。
10 He became hungry and desired to eat, but while they were preparing, he fell into a trance.
他那時餓了，願意進食；正在人預備飯的時候，他就神魂超拔了。
11 He saw heaven opened and a certain container descending to him, like a great sheet let down by four corners on the earth,
他看見天開了，降下一個器皿，好像一塊大布，繫著四角，縋到地上，
12 in which were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild animals, reptiles, and birds of the sky.
裏面有各種四足獸、地上的爬蟲和天空的飛鳥。
13 A voice came to him, “Rise, Peter, kill and eat!”
有聲音向他說：「伯多祿！起來，宰了，吃罷!」
14 But Peter said, “Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean.”
伯多祿卻答說：「主，絕對不可！因為我從來沒有吃過一樣污穢和不潔之物。」
15 A voice came to him again the second time, “What God has cleansed, you must not call unclean.”
聲音第二次又向他說：「天主稱為潔淨的，你不可稱為污穢！」
16 This was done three times, and immediately the thing was received up into heaven.
這事一連發生了三次，那器皿隨即撤回天上去了。
17 Now while Peter was very perplexed in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men who were sent by Cornelius, having made enquiry for Simon’s house, stood before the gate,
伯多祿正在猜想他所見的異像有什麼意思的時候，看，科爾乃略打發來的人，已查問到西滿的家，站在門前。
18 and called and asked whether Simon, who was also called Peter, was lodging there.
他們喊著詢問：號稱伯多祿的西滿是否住在這裏。
19 While Peter was pondering the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men seek you.
伯多祿還在沉思那異像時，聖神說：「看，有三個人找你。
20 But arise, get down, and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them.”
起來，下去，同他們一起去罷! 不要疑惑，因為是我打發他們來的。」
21 Peter went down to the men, and said, “Behold, I am he whom you seek. Why have you come?”
伯多祿下來向那些人說：「看，我就是你們所找的人。你們來這裏做什麼﹖」
22 They said, “Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous man and one who fears God, and well spoken of by all the Jewish nation, was directed by a holy angel to invite you to his house, and to listen to what you say.”
他們答說：「科爾乃略百夫長是個正義和敬畏天主的人，也受全猶太人民的稱譽；他蒙聖天使指示，請你到他家去，聽你講道。」
23 So he called them in and provided a place to stay. On the next day Peter arose and went out with them, and some of the brothers from Joppa accompanied him.
伯多祿於是請他們進來住下，第二天起來，便同他們一齊去了；還有幾個約培的兄弟陪著他。
24 On the next day they entered into Caesarea. Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his relatives and his near friends.
次日，他到了凱撒勒雅。那時，科爾乃略召集了自己的親戚和密友，等候他們來。
25 When Peter entered, Cornelius met him, fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.
當伯多祿進來的時候，科爾乃略去迎接他，跪伏在他腳前叩拜。
26 But Peter raised him up, saying, “Stand up! I myself am also a man.”
伯多祿拉他起來說： 「起來！我自己也是個人。」
27 As he talked with him, he went in and found many gathered together.
就同他談著話進去了，看見有許多人聚集在那裏，
28 He said to them, “You yourselves know how it is an unlawful thing for a man who is a Jew to join himself or come to one of another nation, but God has shown me that I shouldn’t call any man unholy or unclean.
便對他們說：「你們都知道猶太人是不准同外邦人交接來往的；但是，天主指示給我，沒有一個可說是污穢或不潔的人。
29 Therefore I also came without complaint when I was sent for. I ask therefore, why did you send for me?”
為此，我一被請，毫不猶豫地就來了。請問：你們請我來是為什麼原故﹖」
30 Cornelius said, “Four days ago, I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour, I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing
科爾乃略說：「從此時起，四天以前，第九時辰，我在我房中祈禱時，忽然有位穿華麗衣服的人站在我面前，
31 and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer is heard, and your gifts to the needy are remembered in the sight of God.
說：科爾乃略，你的祈禱蒙了垂允，你的施捨在天主前得到記念。
32 Send therefore to Joppa and summon Simon, who is also called Peter. He is staying in the house of a tanner named Simon, by the seaside. When he comes, he will speak to you.’
所以，你要打發人往約培去，叫號稱伯多祿的西滿來，他客居在靠近海的皮匠西滿家裏。
33 Therefore I sent to you at once, and it was good of you to come. Now therefore we are all here present in the sight of God to hear all things that have been commanded you by God.”
我就立刻打發人到你那裏去了。你來的真好！現今我們眾人都在天主前，要聽主所吩咐你的一切。」
34 Peter opened his mouth and said, “Truly I perceive that God doesn’t show favouritism;
伯多祿遂開口說：「我真正明白了：天主是不看情面的，
35 but in every nation he who fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.
凡在各民族中，敬畏他而又履行正義的人，都是他所中悅的。
36 The word which he sent to the children of Israel, proclaiming good news of peace by Yeshua the Messiah—he is Lord of all—
他藉耶穌基督──他原是萬民的主──宣講了和平的喜訊，把這道先傳給以色列子民。
37 you yourselves know what happened, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee, after the immersion which Yochanan preached;
你們都知道：在若翰宣講洗禮以後，從加里勒亞開始，在全猶太所發生的事：
38 how God anointed Yeshua of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.
天主怎樣以聖神和德能傅了納匝肋的耶穌，使他巡行各處，施恩行善，治好一切受魔鬼壓制的人，因為天主同他在一起。
39 We are witnesses of everything he did both in the countryside of Judea and in Jerusalem; whom they also killed, hanging him on a tree.
我們就是他在猶太人地域和耶路撒冷所行一切的見證人。他們卻把他懸在木架上，殺死了。
40 God raised him up the third day and gave him to be revealed,
第三天，天主使他復活了，叫他顯現出來，
41 not to all the people, but to witnesses who were chosen before by God, to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.
不是給所有的百姓，而是給天主所預揀的見證人，就是給我們這些在他從死者中復活後，與他同食共飲的人。
42 He commanded us to proclaim to the people and to testify that this is he who is appointed by God as the Judge of the living and the dead.
他吩咐我們向百姓講道，指證他就是天主所立的生者與死者的判官。
43 All the prophets testify about him, that through his name everyone who believes in him will receive remission of sins.”
一切先知都為他作證：凡信他的人，賴他的名字都要獲得罪赦。」
44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who heard the word.
伯多祿還在講這些話的時候，聖神降在所有聽道的人身上。
45 They of the circumcision who believed were amazed, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was also poured out on the Gentiles.
那些受過割損與伯多祿同來的信徒，都驚訝聖神的恩惠也傾注在外邦人身上，
46 For they heard them speaking in other languages and magnifying God. Then Peter answered,
因為聽見他們說各種語言，並頌揚天主。那時，伯多祿就發言說：「
47 “Can anyone forbid these people from being immersed with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just like us.”
這些人既領受了聖神，和我們一樣，誰能阻止他們不受水洗呢﹖」
48 He commanded them to be immersed in the name of Yeshua the Messiah. Then they asked him to stay some days.
遂吩咐人以耶穌基督的名給他們付洗。以後，他們求伯多祿再住了幾天。
