Genesis 48
1 And so whanne these thingis weren don, it was teld to Joseph, that his fadir was sijk. And he took hise twei sones, Manasses and Effraym, and he disposide to go.
Après ces choses, on vint dire à Joseph: " Voici que ton père est malade. " Il prit avec lui ses deux fils, Manassé et Ephraïm.
2 And it was seid to the elde man, Lo! thi sone Joseph cometh to thee; which was coumfortid, and sat in the bed.
On avertit Jacob, en disant: " Voici ton fils Joseph qui vient vers toi. " Israël rassembla ses forces et s'assit sur son lit.
3 And whanne Joseph entride to hym, he seide, Almyyti God apperide to me in Luza, which is in the lond of Canaan, and blesside me,
Jacob dit à Joseph: " Le Dieu tout-puissant m'est apparu à Luz, dans le pays de Chanaan, et il m'a béni,
4 and seide, Y schal encreesse and multiplie thee, and Y schal make thee in to cumpanyes of puplis, and Y schal yyue to thee this lond, and to thi seed aftir thee, in to euerlastinge possessioun.
en disant: Je te rendrai fécond, je te multiplierai, et je te ferai devenir une assemblée de peuples; je donnerai ce pays à ta postérité après toi, pour qu'elle le possède à jamais.
5 Therfor thi twei sones, that ben borun to thee in the lond of Egipt bifore that Y cam hidir to thee, schulen be myne, Effraym and Manasses as Ruben and Symeon schulen be arettid to me;
Et maintenant, les deux fils qui te sont nés dans le pays d'Egypte, avant mon arrivée vers toi en Egypte, seront miens; Ephraïm et Manassé seront miens, comme Ruben et Siméon.
6 forsothe the othere whiche thou schalt gendre aftir hem schulen be thine; and thei schulen be clepid bi the name of her britheren in her possessiouns.
Mais les enfants que tu as engendrés après eux seront tiens; ils seront appelés du nom de leurs frères quant à leur part d'héritage.
7 Forsothe whanne Y cam fro Mesopotamye, Rachel was deed to me in the lond of Canaan, in thilke weie; and it was the bigynnyng of somer; and Y entride in to Effrata, and beriede hir bisidis the weie of Effrata, which bi anothir name is clepid Bethleem.
Et moi, quand je revenais de Paddan, Rachel mourut en route auprès de moi, dans le pays de Chanaan, à une certaine distance d'Ephrata; et c'est là que je l'ai enterrée sur le chemin d'Ephrata, qui est Bethléem. "
8 Forsothe Jacob seiy the sones of Joseph, and seide to him, Who ben these?
Alors Israël vit les fils de Joseph, et dit: " Qui sont ceux-ci? "
9 He answeride, Thei ben my sones, whiche God yaf to me in this place. Jacob seide, Brynge hem to me that Y blesse hem.
Joseph répondit à son père: " Ce sont mes fils, que Dieu m'a donnés ici. " Et Israël dit: " Fais-les approcher de moi, je te prie, afin que je les bénisse. "
10 For `the iyen of Israel, dasewiden for greet eelde, and he myyte not se clereli; and he kisside and collide tho children ioyned to hym, and seide to his sone,
Car les yeux d'Israël étaient obscurcis par l'âge, et il ne pouvait plus bien voir. Joseph les fit approcher de lui, et Israël les baisa, en les tenant embrassés.
11 Y am not defraudid of thi siyt; ferthermore God schewide to me thi seed.
Et Israël dit à Joseph: " Je ne pensais plus revoir ton visage, et voici que Dieu me fait voir aussi ta postérité! "
12 And whanne Joseph hadde take hem fro `the fadris lappe, he worschipide lowe to erthe.
Joseph les retira d'entre les genoux de son père et, s'étant prosterné en terre devant lui,
13 And he sette Effraym on his riyt side, that is, on the lift side of Israel; forsothe he settide Manasses in his lift side, that is, on the riyt side of the fadir; and he ioynede bothe to hym.
Joseph les prit tous les deux, Ephraïm à sa droite, à la gauche d'Israël, et Manassé à sa gauche, à la droite d'Israël, et il les fit approcher.
14 Which helde forth the riyt hond, and settide on `the heed of Effraym, the lesse brothir; sotheli he settide the left hond on `the heed of Manasses, that was the more thury birthe. Jacob chaungide `the hondes,
Israël étendit sa main droite et la posa sur la tête d'Ephraïm, qui était le plus jeune, et il posa sa main gauche sur la tête de Manassé; c'est à dessein qu'il posa ainsi ses mains, car Manassé était l'aîné.
15 and blesside his sone Joseph, and seide, God, in whos siyt my fadris Abraham and Isaac yeden; God, that fedith me fro my yong wexynge age til in to present day;
Il bénit Joseph, en disant: " Que le Dieu en présence duquel ont marché mes pères Abraham et Isaac, que le Dieu qui m'a nourri depuis que j'existe jusqu'à ce jour,
16 the aungel that delyuerede me fro alle yuelis, blesse thes children, and my name be clepid on hem, and the names of my fadris Abraham and Ysaac; and wexe thei in multitude on erthe.
que l'ange qui m'a délivré de tout mal, bénisse ces enfants! Qu'ils soient appelés de mon nom et du nom de mes pères, Abraham et Isaac, et qu'ils multiplient en abondance au milieu du pays! "
17 Forsothe Joseph seiy that his fadir hadde set the riyt hond on the heed of Effraym, and took heuyli, and he enforside to reise the fadris hond takun fro the heed of Effraym, and to bere `ouer on `the heed of Manasses.
Joseph, voyant que son père posait sa main droite sur la tête d'Ephraïm, en eut du déplaisir; il prit la main de son père pour l'écarter de dessus la tête d'Ephraïm et la porter sur celle de Manassé;
18 And he seide to the fadir, Fadir, it acordith not so; for this is the firste gendrid; sette thi riyt hond on the heed `of hym.
et Joseph dit à son père: " Pas ainsi, mon père, car celui-ci est le premier-né: mets ta main droite sur sa tête. "
19 Which forsook and seide, Y woot, my sone, Y woot; and sotheli this child schal be in to puplis, and he schal be multiplied; but his yonger brother schal be more than he, and `his seed schal encreesse in to folkis.
Mais son père refusa, en disant: " Je le sais, mon fils, je le sais; lui aussi deviendra un peuple, lui aussi sera grand; mais son frère cadet sera plus grand que lui, et sa postérité deviendra une multitude de nations. "
20 And he blesside hem in that tyme, and seide, Israel schal be blessid in thee, Joseph, and it schal be seid, God do to thee as to Effraym and as to Manasses. And he settide Effraym bifore Manasses;
Il les bénit donc ce jour-là et dit: " Par toi Israël bénira, en disant: Que Dieu te rende tel qu'Ephraïm et Manassé! " Et il mit Ephraïm avant Manassé.
21 and seide to Joseph, his sone, Lo! Y die, and God schal be with you, and schal lede you ayen to the lond of youre fadris;
Israël dit à Joseph: " Voici que je vais mourir. Mais Dieu sera avec vous, et il vous ramènera dans le pays de vos pères.
22 Y yyue to thee o part ouer thi britheren which Y took fro the hand of Amorei, in my swerd and bowe.
Je te donne, de plus qu'à tes frères, une portion que j'ai prise de la main des Amorrhéens avec mon épée et mon arc. "
