Psalms 51

1 To the Overseer. — A Psalm of David, in the coming in unto him of Nathan the prophet, when he hath gone in unto Bath-Sheba. Favour me, O God, according to Thy kindness, According to the abundance of Thy mercies, Blot out my transgressions.

Tem misericordia de mim, ó Deus, segundo a tua benignidade; apaga as minhas transgressões, segundo a multidão das tuas misericordias.

2 Thoroughly wash me from mine iniquity, And from my sin cleanse me,

Lava-me completamente da minha iniquidade, e purifica-me do meu peccado.

3 For my transgressions I do know, And my sin [is] before me continually.

Porque eu conheço as minhas transgressões, e o meu peccado está sempre diante de mim.

4 Against Thee, Thee only, I have sinned, And done the evil thing in Thine eyes, So that Thou art righteous in Thy words, Thou art pure in Thy judging.

Contra ti, contra ti sómente pequei, e fiz o que é mau á tua vista, para que sejas justificado quando fallares, e puro quando julgares.

5 Lo, in iniquity I have been brought forth, And in sin doth my mother conceive me.

Eis que em iniquidade fui formado, e em peccado me concebeu minha mãe.

6 Lo, truth Thou hast desired in the inward parts, And in the hidden part Wisdom Thou causest me to know.

Eis que amas a verdade no intimo, e no occulto me fazes conhecer a sabedoria.

7 Thou cleansest me with hyssop and I am clean, Washest me, and than snow I am whiter.

Purifica-me com hyssope, e ficarei puro: lava-me, e ficarei mais branco do que a neve.

8 Thou causest me to hear joy and gladness, Thou makest joyful bones Thou hast bruised.

Faze-me ouvir jubilo e alegria, para que gozem os ossos que tu quebraste.

9 Hide Thy face from my sin. And all mine iniquities blot out.

Esconde a tua face dos meus peccados, e apaga todas as minhas iniquidades.

10 A clean heart prepare for me, O God, And a right spirit renew within me.

Cria em mim, ó Deus, um coração puro, e renova em mim um espirito recto.

11 Cast me not forth from Thy presence, And Thy Holy Spirit take not from me.

Não me lances fóra da tua presença, e não retires de mim o teu Espirito Sancto.

12 Restore to me the joy of Thy salvation, And a willing spirit doth sustain me.

Torna a dar-me a alegria da tua salvação, e sustem-me com o teu Espirito voluntario.

13 I teach transgressors Thy ways, And sinners unto Thee do return.

Então ensinarei aos transgressores os teus caminhos, e os peccadores a ti se converterão.

14 Deliver me from blood, O God, God of my salvation, My tongue singeth of Thy righteousness.

Livra-me dos crimes de sangue, ó Deus, Deus da minha salvação, e a minha lingua louvará altamente a tua justiça.

15 O Lord, my lips thou dost open, And my mouth declareth Thy praise.

Abre, Senhor, os meus labios, e a minha bocca entoará o teu louvor.

16 For Thou desirest not sacrifice, or I give [it], Burnt-offering Thou acceptest not.

Pois não queres os sacrificios que eu daria; tu não te deleitas em holocaustos.

17 The sacrifices of God [are] a broken spirit, A heart broken and bruised, O God, Thou dost not despise.

Os sacrificios para Deus são o espirito quebrantado; a um coração quebrantado e contrito não desprezarás, ó Deus.

18 Do good in Thy good pleasure with Zion, Thou dost build the walls of Jerusalem.

Faze o bem a Sião, segundo a tua boa vontade; edifica os muros de Jerusalem.

19 Then Thou desirest sacrifices of righteousness, Burnt-offering, and whole burnt-offering, Then they offer bullocks on thine altar!

Então te agradarás dos sacrificios da justiça, dos holocaustos e das offertas queimadas; então se offerecerão novilhos sobre o teu altar.
