Actes 13
1 Il y avait dans l'Eglise d'Antioche des prophètes et des docteurs, savoir, Barnabé, Siméon, appelé Niger, Lucius de Cyrène, Manahen, qui avait été élevé avec Hérode le tétrarque, et Saul.
Now there were in Antioch, distributed through the existing assembly, —prophets and teachers: both Barnabas and Symeon who was called Niger, and Lucius the Cyrenian, Manaen also, Herod the tetrarch’s foster-brother, and Saul.
2 Comme ils vaquaient au service du Seigneur et qu'ils jeûnaient, l'Esprit-Saint leur dit: " Séparez-moi Saul et Barnabé pour l'œuvre à laquelle je les ai appelés. "
And, as they were publicly ministering unto the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said—Separate forthwith unto me, Barnabas and Saul, unto the work whereunto I have called them.
3 Alors, après avoir jeûné et prié, ils leur imposèrent les mains et les laissèrent partir.
Then, fasting and praying, and laying their hands upon them, they sent them away.
4 Envoyés donc par le Saint-Esprit, Saul et Barnabé se rendirent à Séleucie, d'où ils firent voile pour l'île de Chypre.
They, therefore, being sent forth by the Holy Spirit, went down unto Seleucia, and, from thence, sailed away unto Cyprus;
5 Arrivés à Salamine, ils annoncèrent la parole de Dieu dans les synagogues des Juifs. Ils avaient avec eux Jean pour les aider dans leur ministère.
And, coming to be in Salamis, they declared the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews; —and they had, John also, as an attendant.
6 Ayant parcouru toute l'île jusqu'à Paphos, ils trouvèrent un certain magicien, faux prophète juif, nommé Barjésus,
And, passing through the whole island, as far as Paphos, they found a certain man, a magician, a false-prophet, a Jew, whose name was Bar-jesus;
7 qui vivait auprès du proconsul Sergius Paulus, homme sage. Ce dernier, ayant fait appeler Barnabé et Saul, manifesta le désir d'entendre la parole de Dieu.
Who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man. The same, calling for Barnabas and Saul, sought to hear the word of God.
8 Mais Elymas, le magicien — car telle est la signification de son nom — leur faisait opposition, cherchant à détourner de la foi le proconsul.
But Elymas the magician, —for so, when translated, is his name, —withstood them; seeking to turn aside the proconsul from the faith.
9 Alors Saul, appelé aussi Paul, rempli du Saint-Esprit, fixant son regard sur le magicien,
But Saul, who is also Paul, filled with Holy Spirit, looking steadfastly at him,
10 lui dit: " Homme plein de toute sorte de ruses et de fourberies, fils du diable, ennemi de toute justice, ne cesseras-tu pas de pervertir les voies droite du Seigneur?
Said—O full of all guile, and all recklessness! Son of an adversary! Enemy of all righteousness!—Wilt thou not cease to pervert the straight ways of the Lord?
11 Maintenant voici que la main de Dieu est sur toi; tu seras aveugle, privé pour un temps de la vue du soleil. " Aussitôt d'épaisses ténèbres tombèrent sur lui, et il cherchait, en se tournant de tous côtés, quelqu'un qui lui donnât la main.
Now, therefore, lo! the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun, until a fitting time. And, instantly, there fell upon him a mist and darkness; and, going about, he was seeking such as might lead him by the hand.
12 A la vue de ce prodige, le proconsul crut, vivement frappé de la doctrine du Seigneur.
Then, the proconsul, seeing what had happened, believed, being amazed at the teaching of the Lord.
13 Paul et ses compagnons, ayant fait voile de Paphos, se rendirent à Perge en Pamphylie; mais Jean les quitta et s'en retourna à Jérusalem.
And, setting sail from Paphos, Paul’s company came into Perga of Pamphylia; but, John, withdrawing from them, returned unto Jerusalem.
14 Eux, poussant au delà de Perge, se rendirent à Antioche de Pisidie, et étant entrés dans la synagogue le jour du sabbat, ils s'assirent.
They, however, passing through from Perga, arrived at Antioch of Pisidia; and, going into the synagogue on the sabbath-day, sat down.
15 Après la lecture de la Loi et des Prophètes, les chefs de la synagogue leur envoyèrent dire: " Frères, si vous avez quelque exhortation à adresser au peuple, parlez. "
And, after the reading of the law and the prophets, the synagogue-rulers sent unto them, saying—Brethren! if there is in you a word of exhortation unto the people, say on.
16 Paul se leva, et, ayant fait signe de la main, il dit: " Enfants d'Israël, et vous qui craignez Dieu, écoutez.
And Paul, standing up, and making a sign with his hand, said—Ye men of Israel! and such as revere God! hearken: —
17 Le Dieu de ce peuple d'Israël a choisi nos pères. Il glorifia ce peuple pendant son séjour en Egypte, et l'en fit sortir par son bras puissant.
The God of this people Israel, chose our fathers, and, the people, he exalted, by their sojourn in the land of Egypt, —and, with a high arm, brought he them out of it;
18 Durant près de quarante ans, il en prit soin dans le désert.
And, for the time of about forty years, bare with their manners in the desert;
19 Puis, ayant détruit sept nations au pays de Chanaan, il le mit en possession de leur territoire.
And, overthrowing seven nations in the land of Canaan, gave them their land as an inheritance—about four hundred and fifty years.
20 Après cela, durant quatre cent cinquante ans environ, il lui donna des juges jusqu'au prophète Samuel.
And, after these things, he gave them judges, until Samuel the prophet.
21 Alors ils demandèrent un roi; et Dieu leur donna, pendant quarante ans, Saül, fils de Cis, de la tribu de Benjamin.
And, from that time, they asked for themselves a king, and God gave them Saul, son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, during forty years;
22 Puis, l'ayant rejeté, il leur suscita pour roi David, auquel il a rendu ce témoignage: J'ai trouvé David, fils de Jessé, homme selon mon cœur, qui accomplira toutes mes volontés. —
And, setting him aside, raised up, David, unto them for king, —of whom he also said, bearing witness—I have found David, the son of Jesse, —[a man] according to my heart, who will do all my will.
23 C'est de sa postérité que Dieu, selon sa promesse, a fait sortir pour Israël un Sauveur, Jésus.
From this man’s seed, hath God, according to promise, brought unto Israel, a saviour—Jesus:
24 Avant sa venue, Jean avait prêché un baptême de pénitence à tout le peuple d'Israël;
John, beforehand proclaiming, before the face of his coming in, an immersion of repentance, unto all the people of Israel.
25 et arrivé au terme de sa course, il disait: Je ne suis pas celui que vous pensez; mais voici qu'après moi vient celui dont je ne suis pas digne de délier la chaussure.
And, as John was fulfilling his course, he was saying—Whom are ye supposing that I am? I, am not he! But lo! there cometh, after me, one of whom I am not worthy, the sandals of his feet, to loosen.
26 Mes frères, fils de la race d'Abraham, et vous qui craignez Dieu, c'est à vous que cette parole de salut a été envoyée.
Brethren! sons of the race of Abraham, and those who among you revere God, —unto you, hath this word of salvation been sent forth.
27 Car les habitants de Jérusalem et leurs magistrats ayant méconnu Jésus et les oracles des prophètes qui se lisent chaque sabbat, les ont accompli par leur jugement,
For, they who were dwelling in Jerusalem, and their rulers, not recognising him, have, by judging him, fulfilled, the very voices of the prophets which every sabbath are being read;
28 et sans avoir rien trouvé en lui qui méritât la mort, ils ont demandé à Pilate de le faire mourir.
And, though no single cause of death they found, yet claimed they of Pilate that he should be slain.
29 Et quand ils eurent accompli tout ce qui est écrit de lui, ils le descendirent de la croix et le déposèrent dans un sépulcre.
And, when they had finished all those things which, concerning him, had been written, taking him down from the tree, they put him in a tomb.
30 Mais Dieu l'a ressuscité des morts; et pendant plusieurs jours de suite il s'est montré à ceux
But, God, raised him from among the dead:
31 qui étaient montés avec lui de la Galilée à Jérusalem, et qui sont maintenant ses témoins auprès du peuple.
Who appeared, during many days, unto them who had come up with him from Galilee unto Jerusalem; who, indeed, [now] are his witnesses unto the people.
32 Nous aussi, nous vous annonçons que la promesse faite à nos pères,
We, therefore, unto you, bring the good news, as to the promise which, unto our fathers, was made, —
33 Dieu l'a accomplie pour nous, leurs enfants, en ressuscitant Jésus, selon ce qui est écrit dans le Psaume deuxième: Tu es mon Fils, je t'ai engendré aujourd'hui.
That God hath fulfilled, the same, for our children, by raising up Jesus: as also, in the second psalm, it is written—My son, art, thou: I, this day, have begotten thee.
34 Que Dieu l'ait ressuscité des morts de telle sorte qu'il ne retournera pas à la corruption, c'est ce qu'il a déclaré en disant: Je vous donnerai les faveurs divines promises à David, faveurs qui sont assurées.
And, in that he raised him from among the dead, no more destined to return unto corruption, on this wise hath he spoken—I will give unto you the faithful lovingkindnesses of David.
35 — C'est pourquoi il dit encore ailleurs: Tu ne permettras pas que ton Saint voie la corruption. —
Wherefore also, in a different [place], he saith—Thou wilt not give thy man of lovingkindness to see corruption.
36 Or David, après avoir, pendant qu'il vivait, accompli les desseins de Dieu, s'est endormi, et il a été réuni à ses pères, et il a vu la corruption.
For, David, indeed, unto his own generation having done service, by the counsel of God, fell asleep, and was added unto fathers, and saw corruption;
37 Mais celui que Dieu a ressuscité n'a pas vu la corruption.
But, he whom God hath raised, did not see corruption.
38 Sachez-le donc, mes frères: c'est par lui que le pardon des péchés vous est annoncé; et de toutes les souillures, dont vous n'avez pu être justifiés par la loi de Moïse,
Be it known unto you, therefore, brethren, —that, through this man, unto you, remission of sins is declared;
39 quiconque croit en est justifié par lui.
And, from all things from which ye could not, by the law of Moses, be justified, by this man, everyone that believeth, is justified.
40 Prenez donc garde qu'il ne vous arrive ce qui est dit dans les Prophètes:
Be taking heed, therefore, lest that come upon you which hath been spoken in the prophets—
41 " Voyez, hommes dédaigneux, soyez étonnés et disparaissez; car je vais faire en vos jours une œuvre, une œuvre que vous ne croiriez pas si on vous la racontait. "
See, ye despisers, and marvel, and disappear: in that, a work, am, I, working in your days, —a work, which in nowise will ye believe, though one relate it in full unto you.
42 Lorsqu'ils sortirent, on les pria de parler sur le même sujet au sabbat suivant.
And, as they were going out, they kept on beseeching that, on the ensuing sabbath, might be spoken unto them these things.
43 Et à l'issue de l'assemblée, beaucoup de Juifs et de pieux prosélytes suivirent Paul et Barnabé, et ceux-ci, s'entretenant avec eux, les exhortèrent à persévérer dans la grâce de Dieu.
And, when the congregation was broken up, there followed many of the Jews, and of the devout proselytes, with Paul and Barnabas; who, indeed, in speaking unto them, went on persuading them to abide in the favour of God.
44 Le sabbat suivant, la ville presque toute entière se rassembla pour entendre la parole de Dieu.
And, on the coming sabbath, almost all the city, was gathered together, to hear the word of God.
45 Les Juifs, voyant tout ce concours, furent remplis de jalousie, et, en blasphémant, ils contredirent tout ce que disait Paul.
But, the Jews, seeing, the multitudes, were filled with jealousy, —and began speaking against the things which, by Paul, were being spoken, defaming them.
46 Alors Paul et Barnabé dirent avec assurance: " C'est à vous les premiers que la parole de Dieu devait être annoncée; mais, puisque vous la repoussez, et que vous-mêmes vous vous jugez indignes de la vie éternelle, voici que nous nous tournons vers les Gentils. (aiōnios g166)
And Paul and Barnabas, speaking boldly, said—Unto you, was it necessary, that the word of God should first be spoken: seeing ye are thrusting it from you, and, unworthy, are judging yourselves of the age-abiding life, lo! we turn unto the nations; (aiōnios g166)
47 Car le Seigneur nous l'a ainsi ordonné: Je t'ai établi pour être la lumière des nations, pour porter le salut jusqu'aux extrémités de la terre. "
For so hath the Lord commanded us—I have set thee for a light of nations, that thou mayest be for salvation unto the end of the earth.
48 En entendant ces paroles, les Gentils se réjouirent, et ils glorifiaient la parole du Seigneur; et tous ceux qui étaient destinés à la vie éternelle devinrent croyants. (aiōnios g166)
And they of the nations, hearing [this], began to rejoice, and to be glorifying God, and they believed—as many as had become disposed for life age-abiding. (aiōnios g166)
49 Et la parole du Seigneur se répandait dans tout le pays.
And the word of the Lord went on to be carried through the whole country.
50 Mais les Juifs, ayant excité les femmes prosélytes de la classe élevée et les principaux de la ville, soulevèrent une persécution contre Paul et Barnabé, et les chassèrent de leur territoire.
But, the Jews, urged on the devout women of the higher class, and the chief men of the city, and roused up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, —and thrust them out from their bounds.
51 Alors Paul et Barnabé secouèrent contre eux la poussière de leurs pieds et allèrent à Iconium.
But they, shaking off the dust of their feet against them, came into Iconium.
52 Cependant les disciples étaient remplis de joie et de l'Esprit-Saint.
And, the disciples, were filled with joy, and with Holy Spirit.
