Matthieu 4
1 Alors Jésus fut conduit par l'Esprit dans le désert pour y être tenté par le diable.
Then Jesus was led up into the wilderness by the Spirit, to be tempted by the devil.
2 Après avoir jeûné pendant quarante jours et quarante nuits, il eut faim.
And having fasted forty days and forty nights, He afterward hungered.
3 Et le tentateur, s'approchant, lui dit: " Si vous êtes le Fils de Dieu, commandez que ces pierres deviennent des pains. "
And the tempter having come to Him, said; If thou art the Son of God, speak in order that these stones may become bread.
4 Jésus lui répondit: " Il est écrit: L'homme ne vit pas seulement de pain, mais de toute parole qui sort de la bouche de Dieu. "
And He responding said; It has been written, A man shall not live upon bread alone, but upon every word coming forth through the mouth of God.
5 Alors le diable le transporta dans la ville sainte, et l'ayant posé sur le pinacle du temple,
Then the devil takes Him into the holy city and stood Him on the pinnacle of the temple,
6 il lui dit: " Si vous êtes le Fils de Dieu, jetez-vous en bas; car il est écrit: Il a donné pour vous des ordres à ses anges, et ils vous porteront dans leurs mains, de peur que votre pied ne heurte contre la pierre. "
and says to Him; If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down; for it has been written, That He will give His angels charge concerning thee, and upon their hand they will bear thee, lest thou mayest dash thy foot against a stone.
7 Jésus lui dit: " Il est écrit aussi: Tu ne tenteras point le Seigneur, ton Dieu. "
Jesus said to him; Again it has been written, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
8 Le diable, de nouveau, le transporta sur une montagne très élevée, et lui montrant tous les royaumes du monde, avec leur gloire,
Again the devil takes Him into an exceedingly high mountain, and shows Him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of the same,
9 il lui dit: " Je vous donnerai tout cela, si, tombant à mes pieds, vous m'adorez ".
and said to Him; All these things will I give unto thee,
10 Alors Jésus lui dit: " Retire-toi, Satan; car il est écrit: Tu adoreras le Seigneur, ton Dieu, et tu ne serviras que lui seul. "
If having fallen down thou mayest worship me: then Jesus says to him, Get behind me, Satan; for it has been written; Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve.
11 Alors le diable le laissa; aussitôt des anges s'approchèrent, et ils le servaient.
Then the devil leaveth Him; and behold, the angels came to Him and continued to minister unto Him.
12 Quand Jésus eut appris que Jean avait été mis en prison, il se retira en Galilée.
And Jesus having heard that John was cast into prison, departed into Galilee.
13 Et laissant la ville de Nazareth, il vint demeurer à Capharnaüm, sur les bords de la mer, aux confins de Zabulon et de Nephtali,
And having left Nazareth, having come into Capernaum, by the seaside, in the borders of Zabulon and Naphtali, He dwelt there;
14 afin que s'accomplît cette parole du prophète Isaïe:
in order that the word having been spoken by Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, saying,
15 " Terre de Zabulon et terre de Nephtali, qui confines à la mer, pays au-delà du Jourdain, Galilée des Gentils!
Thou land Zabulon and land Naphtali, way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles,
16 Le peuple qui était assis dans les ténèbres a vu une grande lumière; et sur ceux qui étaient assis dans la région de l'ombre de la mort, la lumière s'est levée!
the people sitting in darkness saw a great light, and to those sitting in the valley and shadow of death, light sprang up.
17 Dès lors Jésus commença à prêcher, en disant: " Repentez-vous, car le royaume des cieux est proche. "
From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent; for the kingdom of the heavens draweth nigh.
18 Comme il marchait le long de la mer de Galilée, Jésus vit deux frères, Simon, appelé Pierre, et André son frère, qui jetaient leur filet dans la mer; car ils étaient pêcheurs.
And He walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting their net into the sea; for they were fishers.
19 Et il leur dit: " Suivez-moi, et je vous ferai pêcheurs d'hommes. "
And He says to them, Follow after me, and I will make you fishers of men.
20 Eux aussitôt, laissant leurs filets, le suivirent.
And immediately, having left their nets, they followed Him.
21 S'avançant plus loin, il vit deux autres frères, Jacques, fils de Zébédée, et Jean son frère, dans une barque, avec leur père Zébédée, réparant leurs filets, et il les appela.
And going forth from thence, He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and He called them.
22 Eux aussi, laissant à l'heure même leur barque et leur père, le suivirent.
And immediately having left the ship and their father, they followed Him.
23 Jésus parcourait toute la Galilée, enseignant dans leurs synagogues, prêchant l'Evangile du royaume de Dieu, et guérissant toute maladie et toute infirmité parmi le peuple.
And Jesus was going round all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every disease and every malady among the people.
24 Sa renommée se répandit dans toute la Syrie, et on lui présentait tous les malades atteints d'infirmités et de souffrances diverses, des possédés, des lunatiques, des paralytiques, et il les guérissait.
And His fame went forth into all Syria: and they brought Him all who were sick, afflicted with various diseases and torments, and the demonized, and the lunatics, and the paralytics; and He healed them.
25 Et une grande multitude le suivit de la Galilée, de la Décapole, de Jérusalem, de la Judée et d'au delà du Jourdain.
And many multitudes followed Him from Galilee and Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and beyond the Jordan.
