Exode 9
1 Le Seigneur dit alors à Moise: Entre chez le Pharaon; dis-lui: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu des Hébreux: Renvoie mon peuple, afin qu'il m'offre un sacrifice.
Then the Lord said vnto Moses, Go to Pharaoh, and tell him, Thus saith the Lord God of the Ebrewes, Let my people go, that they may serue me.
2 Si tu refuses de renvoyer mon peuple, si tu le retiens encore,
But if thou refuse to let them goe, and wilt yet holde them still,
3 La main du Seigneur s'appesantira sur le bétail de tes champs, sur les chevaux, tes ânes, tes chamelles, tes bœufs et tes brebis; la mortalité sera grande et terrible.
Beholde, the hande of the Lord is vpon thy flocke which is in the fielde: for vpon the horses, vpon the asses, vpon the camels, vpon the cattell, and vpon the sheepe shalbe a mightie great moraine.
4 Et je montrerai avec éclat la différence entre le bétail des Égyptiens et celui des fils d'Israël; nulle bête ne mourra parmi celles des fils d'Israël.
And the Lord shall doe wonderfully betweene the beastes of Israel, and the beastes of Egypt: so that there shall nothing dye of all, that pertaineth to the children of Israel.
5 Dieu a même fixé le temps; il a dit: Dans la journée de demain le Seigneur accomplira sur la contrée cette menace.
And the Lord appointed a time, saying, To morowe the Lord shall finish this thing in this lande.
6 Le lendemain, le Seigneur tint parole, et tout le bétail des Égyptiens mourut; mais rien ne périt parmi les bestiaux des fils d'Israël.
So the Lord did this thing on the morow, and all the cattel of Egypt dyed: but of the cattell of the children of Israel dyed not one.
7 Et le Pharaon même après avoir vu que parmi les bestiaux des fils d'Israël, rien n'avait péri, s'endurcit le cœur; il ne renvoya pas le peuple.
Then Pharaoh sent, and beholde, there was not one of the cattell of the Israelites dead: and the heart of Pharaoh was obstinate, and hee did not let the people goe.
8 Le Seigneur alors parla à Moïse et à son frère, disant: Prenez plein vos mains de la cendre de fournaise, et que Moïse la jette en l'air devant le Pharaon et ses serviteurs.
And the Lord said to Moses and to Aaron, Take your handfull of ashes of the fornace, and Moses shall sprinkle them towarde the heauen in the sight of Pharaoh,
9 Qu'elle forme un tourbillon de poussière sur toute la terre d'Égypte; et il y aura sur les hommes de l'Égypte, et sur les quadrupèdes, des ulcères et des tumeurs enflammées.
And they shall be turned to dust in all the land of Egypt: and it shalbe as a scab breaking out into blisters vpon man, and vpon beast, thorow out all the land of Egypt.
10 Ils prirent donc de la cendre de forge devant le Pharaon; Moïse la jeta en l'air, et il vint aux hommes ainsi qu'aux quadrupèdes, des ulcères et des tumeurs enflammées.
Then they tooke ashes of the fornace, and stoode before Pharaoh: and Moses sprinkled them towarde the heauen, and there came a scab breaking out into blisters vpon man, and vpon beast.
11 Les magiciens eux-mêmes ne purent demeurer en présence de Moïse, à cause des ulcères, car il vint des ulcères aux magiciens dans toute l'Égypte.
And the sorcerers could not stande before Moses, because of the scab: for the scab was vpon the enchanters, and vpon all the Egyptians.
12 Et le Seigneur endurcit le cœur du Pharaon; il n'écouta ni Aaron ni Moïse, ainsi que l'avait dit le Seigneur.
And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he hearkened not vnto them, as the Lord had said vnto Moses.
13 Après cela, le Seigneur dit à Moïse: Lève-toi de grand matin, et présente-toi devant le Pharaon, et dis lui: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu des Hébreux: Renvoie mon peuple, afin qu'il m'offre un sacrifice.
Also the Lord said vnto Moses, Rise vp early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and tell him, Thus saith the Lord God of the Ebrewes, Let my people goe, that they may serue me.
14 Car, en ce moment, je fais tomber sur ton cœur, sur celui de tes serviteurs et sur celui de ton peuple, tous mes coups, afin que tu voies que nul sur la terre n'est semblable au Seigneur.
For I will at this time send all my plagues vpon thine heart, and vpon thy seruants, and vpon thy people, that thou mayest knowe that there is none like me in all the earth.
15 Aussitôt que j'aurai laissé tomber ma main, je le frapperai, et je ferai périr ton peuple, et il sera effacé de la terre.
For nowe I will stretch out mine hande, that I may smite thee and thy people with the pestilence: and thou shalt perish from the earth.
16 Tu n'as été conservé qu'afin que je montre en toi ma force, et pour que mon nom soit révélé à toute la terre.
And in deede, for this cause haue I appointed thee, to shewe my power in thee, and to declare my Name throughout all the world.
17 Quoi donc! tu insultes encore mon peuple en refusant de le renvoyer!
Yet thou exaltest thy selfe against my people, and lettest them not goe.
18 Eh bien, moi, dès demain, à pareille heure, je ferai tomber une grêle abondante, telle qu'il n'y en a jamais eu en Égypte, depuis le jour de sa fondation jusqu'à aujourd'hui.
Beholde, to morowe this time I will cause to raine a mightie great haile, such as was not in Egypt since the foundation thereof was laid vnto this time.
19 Hâte-toi d'abriter tout le bétail que tu as aux champs, car les hommes et les bestiaux qui se trouveront aux champs, et qui ne seront pas rentrés, seront surpris par la grêle et périront.
Send therefore nowe, and gather the cattell, and all that thou hast in the fielde: for vpon all the men, and the beastes, which are found in the field, and not brought home, the haile shall fall vpon them, and they shall die.
20 Ceux des serviteurs du Pharaon qui craignaient la parole de Dieu rassemblèrent leurs bestiaux en leurs demeures.
Such then as feared the word of the Lord among the seruants of Pharaoh, made his seruants and his cattell flee into the houses:
21 Ceux qui ne faisaient aucune attention à la parole du Seigneur, laissèrent leur bétail aux champs.
But such as regarded not the worde of the Lord, left his seruants, and his cattell in the fielde.
22 Et le Seigneur dit à Moïse: Étends la main vers la ciel, et la grêle tombera sur toute la terre d'Égypte, sur les hommes, sur les bestiaux et sur toutes les plantes qui couvrent la terre.
And the Lord saide to Moses, Stretche foorth thine hande towarde heauen, that there may be haile in all the land of Egypt, vpon man, and vpon beast, and vpon all the herbes of the fielde in the lande of Egypt.
23 Moïse étendit donc la main vers le ciel, et le Seigneur envoya tonnerre et grêle; le feu parcourut la terre, et le Seigneur fit tomber une pluie de grêle sur toute la terre d'Égypte.
Then Moses stretched out his rod towarde heauen, and the Lord sent thunder and haile, and lightening vpon the ground: and the Lord caused haile to raine vpon the land of Egypt.
24 La grêle tombait mêlée de flammes; elle était terriblement épaisse, telle qu'il n'y en avait jamais eu en Égypte depuis que la nation s'y était établie.
So there was haile, and fire mingled with the haile, so grieuous, as there was none throughout all the lande of Egypt, since it was a nation.
25 Tout fut donc frappé par la grêle dans toute l'étendue de l'Égypte, depuis l'homme jusqu'aux bestiaux. Toute l'herbe des champs fut frappée par la grêle; et tous les arbres des campagnes furent brisés par elle.
And the haile smote throughout al ye land of Egypt all that was in the fielde, both man and beast: also ye haile smote all the herbes of ye field, and brake to pieces all the trees of the fielde.
26 Excepté dans la terre de Gessen, où étaient les fils d'Israël; là il n'y eut point de grêle.
Onely in the lande of Goshen (where the children of Israel were) was no haile.
27 Et le Pharaon fit appeler Moïse et son frère, et il leur dit: J'ai péché jusqu'à cette heure; le Seigneur est juste; mon peuple et moi nous sommes des impies.
Then Pharaoh sent and called for Moses and Aaron, and said vnto them, I haue now sinned: the Lord is righteous, but I and my people are wicked.
28 Priez donc pour moi le Seigneur, pour faire cesser la voix de Dieu, la grêle et les flammes, et je vous congédierai, et vous ne continuerez plus de demeurer ici.
Pray ye vnto the Lord (for it is ynough) that there be no more mightie thunders and haile, and I will let you goe, and yee shall tarie no longer.
29 Moïse répondit: Aussitôt sorti de la ville, j'étendrai les mains vers le Seigneur, et les voix cesseront; la grêle et la pluie s'arrêteront, et tu connaîtras que la terre est au Seigneur.
Then Moses saide vnto him, Assoone as I am out of the citie, I will spreade mine hands vnto the Lord, and the thunder shall cease, neither shall there be any more haile, that thou mayest knowe that the earth is the Lordes.
30 Mais je sais que ni toi, ni tes serviteurs, vous ne craignez point le Seigneur encore.
As for thee and thy seruants, I knowe afore I pray ye will feare before the face of the Lord God.
31 Or, le lin et l'orge avaient été frappés, car l'orge était levée et le lin était monté en graine.
(And the flaxe, and the barley were smitten: for the barley was eared, and the flaxe was bolled.
32 Mais le froment et l'épeautre n'avaient pas été frappés, parce qu'ils étaient tardifs.
But the wheat and the rye were not smitten, for they were hid in the grounde)
33 Moïse, ayant quitté le Pharaon et la ville, étendit les mains vers le Seigneur, et les voix cessèrent, et il n'y eut plus sur la terre ni grêle ni pluie
Then Moses went out of the citie from Pharaoh, and spred his hands to the Lord, and the thunder and the haile ceased, neither rained it vpon the earth.
34 Le Pharaon ayant vu que les voix, et la grêle et la pluie avaient cessé, continua de pécher, et il endurcit son cœur, et le cœur des hommes de sa maison.
And when Pharaoh sawe that the raine and the haile and the thunder were ceased, hee sinned againe, and hardened his heart, both he, and his seruants.
35 S'étant ainsi endurci le cœur, le Pharaon refusa de congédier les fils d'Israël, ainsi que le Seigneur l'avait dit à Moïse.
So the heart of Pharaoh was hardened: neither would he let the children of Israel goe, as the Lord had said by Moses.
