2 Chroniques 1

1 Et Salomon, fils de David, s'affermit dans sa royauté, et l'Éternel, son Dieu, était avec lui et l'agrandissait éminemment.

And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and Jehovah his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.

2 Et Salomon dit à tout Israël, [c'est-à-dire] aux chefs des milliers et des centaines et aux Juges et à tous les Princes dans tout Israël, aux patriarches,

And Solomon spake unto all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every prince in all Israel, the heads of the fathers’ [houses].

3 qu'on eût à se rendre, Salomon et toute l'Assemblée avec lui, à la hauteur de Gabaon; car là était la Tente du Rendez-vous de Dieu, qu'avait faite Moïse, serviteur de l'Éternel, dans le désert.

So Solomon, and all the assembly with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tent of meeting of God, which Moses the servant of Jehovah had made in the wilderness.

4 Cependant David avait transféré l'Arche de Dieu de Kiriath-Jearim à la place que David avait disposée pour elle, car il lui érigea une tente à Jérusalem,

But the ark of God had David brought up from Kiriath-jearim to [the place] that David had prepared for it; for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.

5 mais l'autel d'airain, ouvrage de Betsaléèl, fils de Uri, fils de Hur, il l'avait placé devant la Résidence de l'Éternel, et Salomon et l'Assemblée le fréquentaient.

Moreover the brazen altar, that Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, was there before the tabernacle of Jehovah: and Solomon and the assembly sought unto it.

6 Et Salomon y sacrifia sur l'autel d'airain de l'Éternel, qui se trouvait devant la Tente du Rendez-vous, et il offrit sur cet autel mille holocaustes.

And Solomon went up thither to the brazen altar before Jehovah, which was at the tent of meeting, and offered a thousand burnt-offerings upon it.

7 Dans la nuit même Dieu apparut à Salomon et lui dit: Demande ce que j'ai à te donner.

In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.

8 Et Salomon dit à Dieu: Tu as fait à David, mon père, une grande faveur, et tu m'as fait roi en sa place:

And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast showed great lovingkindness unto David my father, and hast made me king in his stead.

9 maintenant, Éternel, Dieu, qu'elle se justifie ta promesse à David, mon père! Tu m'as constitué roi d'un peuple nombreux comme la poudre de la terre,

Now, O Jehovah God, let thy promise unto David my father be established; for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.

10 donne-moi donc sagesse et science, afin que je puisse marcher et rentrer à la tête de ce peuple; car qui est-ce qui saurait gouverner ton peuple, ce grand peuple?

Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?

11 Et Dieu dit à Salomon: Puisque c'est cela qui est dans ton cœur, et que tu n'as demandé ni richesse, ni trésors, ni gloire, ni la mort de tes ennemis, et que tu n'as pas même demandé de longs jours, mais que tu as demandé pour toi sagesse et science pour gouverner mon peuple dont je t'ai fait roi,

And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thy heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honor, nor the life of them that hate thee, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:

12 sagesse et science te sont données, et je t'accorderai richesse et trésors et gloire, comme n'en eurent jamais les rois, tes prédécesseurs, et comme n'en aura aucun de tes successeurs.

wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honor, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee; neither shall there any after thee have the like.

13 Et de la hauteur de Gabaon Salomon revint à Jérusalem ayant quitté la Tente du Rendez-vous, et il régna sur Israël.

So Solomon came from the high place that was at Gibeon, from before the tent of meeting, unto Jerusalem; and he reigned over Israel.

14 Et Salomon rassembla des chars et de la cavalerie, et il avait mille et quatre cents chars et douze mille cavaliers, dont il établit le dépôt dans les villes des chars et auprès du roi à Jérusalem.

And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, that he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.

15 Et le roi rendit l'argent et l'or, à Jérusalem, aussi communs que les pierres, et les cèdres égaux en nombre aux sycomores qui croissent dans le pays-bas.

And the king made silver and gold to be in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars made he to be as the sycomore-trees that are in the lowland, for abundance.

16 Et l'on tirait de l'Egypte les chevaux pour Salomon, et c'était à Thékôa que les marchands du roi allaient recevoir un convoi contre payement.

And the horses which Solomon had were brought out of Egypt; the king’s merchants received them in droves, each drove at a price.

17 Et l'on amenait et tirait de l'Egypte un char pour six cents sicles d'argent, et un cheval pour cent cinquante, et de la même manière on en exportait par leur entremise pour tous les rois des Héthiens et les rois de Syrie.

And they fetched up and brought out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred [shekels] of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty: and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of Syria, did they bring them out by their means.
