Exode 8

1 Et l'Éternel dit à Moïse: Dis à Aaron: Étends ta main avec ton bâton sur les eaux courantes, sur les canaux et sur les lacs, et fais monter les grenouilles sur la terre d'Egypte.

Jehovah spoke to Moses, Go in to Pharaoh, and tell him, "This is what Jehovah says, 'Let my people go, that they may serve me.

2 Et Aaron étendit sa main sur les eaux de l'Egypte, et les grenouilles s'avancèrent et couvrirent la terre d'Egypte.

If you refuse to let them go, look, I will plague all your borders with frogs:

3 Mais les hiérogrammates en firent autant par leurs charmes et attirèrent les grenouilles sur la terre d'Egypte.

and the river shall swarm with frogs, which shall go up and come into your house, and into your bedchamber, and on your bed, and into the house of your servants, and on your people, and into your ovens, and into your kneading troughs:

4 Alors Pharaon manda Moïse et Aaron et dit: Intercédez auprès de l'Éternel, afin qu'il éloigne les grenouilles de moi et de mon peuple, et je laisserai le peuple aller offrir un sacrifice à l'Éternel.

and the frogs shall come up both on you, and on your people, and on all your servants.'"

5 Et Moïse dit à Pharaon: Fixe-moi le temps où je dois intercéder pour toi et tes serviteurs et ton peuple, afin d'exterminer les grenouilles de chez toi et de tes maisons; il n'en restera que dans le Nil.

Jehovah said to Moses, "Tell Aaron your brother, 'Stretch forth your hand with your staff over the rivers, over the streams, and over the pools, and cause frogs to come up on the land of Egypt.'"

6 Et il dit: Demain. Et Moïse dit: Comme tu le dis! afin que tu saches qu'il n'y a point de Dieu, comme l'Éternel, notre Dieu.

Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt; and the frogs came up, and covered the land of Egypt.

7 Et les grenouilles seront éloignées de toi et de tes maisons et de tes serviteurs et de ton peuple; il n'en restera que dans le Nil.

The magicians did in like manner with their secret arts, and brought up frogs on the land of Egypt.

8 Alors Moïse et Aaron sortirent de chez Pharaon, et Moïse éleva ses cris à l'Éternel au sujet des grenouilles dont Il avait affligé Pharaon.

Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and said, "Pray to Jehovah, that he take away the frogs from me, and from my people; and I will let the people go, that they may sacrifice to Jehovah."

9 Et l'Éternel opéra ce que demandait Moïse, et les grenouilles périrent et disparurent des maisons, des cours et des champs.

Moses said to Pharaoh, "I give you the honor of setting the time that I should pray for you, and for your servants, and for your people, that the frogs be destroyed from you and your houses, and remain in the river only."

10 Et on les réunit par monceaux, et le pays fut infecté.

He said, "Tomorrow." He said, "Be it according to your word, that you may know that there is none like Jehovah our God.

11 Mais quand Pharaon se sentit reprendre haleine, il endurcit son cœur, et il ne les écouta point, ainsi que l'Éternel l'avait annoncé.

The frogs shall depart from you, and from your houses, and from your servants, and from your people. They shall remain in the river only."

12 Alors l'Éternel dit à Moïse: Dis à Aaron: Étends ton bâton et frappe la poussière de la terre, afin qu'elle se change en moustiques dans tout le pays d'Egypte.

Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh, and Moses cried to Jehovah concerning the frogs which he had brought on Pharaoh.

13 Et ils le firent, et Aaron étendit sa main avec son bâton et frappa la poussière de la terre; et il y eut des moustiques sur les hommes et sur le bétail, toute la poussière de la terre fut changée en moustiques dans tout le pays d'Egypte.

Jehovah did according to the word of Moses, and the frogs died out of the houses, out of the courts, and out of the fields.

14 Et les hiérogrammates entreprirent aussi par le moyen de leurs charmes de produire les moustiques, mais ils n'y parvinrent pas, et il y eut des moustiques sur l'homme et sur le bétail.

They gathered them together in heaps, and the land stank.

15 Alors les hiérogrammates dirent à Pharaon: C'est le doigt de Dieu! Mais le cœur de Pharaon s'endurcit et il ne les écouta pas, ainsi que l'avait annoncé l'Éternel.

But when Pharaoh saw that there was a respite, he hardened his heart, and did not listen to them, as Jehovah had spoken.

16 Alors l'Éternel dit à Moïse: Lève-toi le matin et te présente devant Pharaon; voici, il ira vers le fleuve et tu lui diras: Ainsi parle l'Éternel: Laisse partir mon peuple afin qu'il me serve.

Jehovah said to Moses, "Tell Aaron, 'Stretch out your staff, and strike the dust of the earth, that it may become lice throughout all the land of Egypt.'"

17 Car si tu ne laisses pas mon peuple partir, voici, j'enverrai contre toi et contre tes serviteurs et contre ton peuple et contre tes maisons les moucherons, et les maisons des Égyptiens se rempliront de moucherons, de même que le sol sur lequel ils sont.

They did so; and Aaron stretched out his hand with his staff, and struck the dust of the earth, and there were lice on man, and on animal; all the dust of the earth became lice throughout all the land of Egypt.

18 Et dans cette journée-là j'excepterai la contrée de Gosen où habite mon peuple, en sorte que là il n'y aura point de moucherons, afin que tu comprennes que moi, l'Éternel, je suis ici dans le pays;

The magicians tried with their secret arts to bring forth lice, but they couldn't. There were lice on man, and on animal.

19 et je ferai une différence entre mon peuple et ton peuple, demain ce signe aura lieu.

Then the magicians said to Pharaoh, "This is the finger of God:" and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he did not listen to them; as Jehovah had spoken.

20 Et ainsi fit l'Éternel; et les moucherons pénétrèrent en masse dans la demeure de Pharaon et dans la demeure de ses serviteurs, et dans tout le pays d'Egypte; le pays fut infesté par les moucherons.

Jehovah said to Moses, "Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh; look, he comes forth to the water; and tell him, 'This is what Jehovah says, "Let my people go, that they may serve me.

21 Alors Pharaon manda Moïse et Aaron et dit: Allez! offrez le sacrifice à votre Dieu dans le pays.

Else, if you will not let my people go, look, I will send swarms of flies on you, and on your servants, and on your people, and into your houses: and the houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground whereon they are.

22 Et Moïse dit: C'est ce qu'il ne convient point de faire; car nous offririons à l'Éternel, notre Dieu, un sacrifice qui est l'abomination des Égyptiens. Si nous offrions un sacrifice qui est l'abomination des Égyptiens, sous leurs yeux, ne nous lapideraient-ils pas?

I will set apart in that day the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there; to the end you may know that I am Jehovah in the midst of the earth.

23 Nous nous avancerons dans le désert à trois jours de marche, et nous offrirons à l'Éternel, notre Dieu, le sacrifice tel qu'il nous le prescrira.

I will put a division between my people and your people: by tomorrow shall this sign be."'"

24 Et Pharaon dit: Je vous laisserai aller offrir à l'Éternel, votre Dieu, un sacrifice dans le désert, seulement n'allez pas à une grande distance; intercédez pour moi!

Jehovah did so; and there came grievous swarms of flies into the house of Pharaoh, and into his servants' houses: and in all the land of Egypt the land was corrupted by reason of the swarms of flies.

25 Et Moïse dit: Voici, je sors de chez toi, et j'intercéderai auprès de l'Éternel, et demain les moucherons se retireront loin de Pharaon, de ses serviteurs et de son peuple. Seulement que Pharaon ne persiste pas à tromper en ne permettant pas au peuple d'aller offrir un sacrifice à l'Éternel.

Pharaoh called for Moses and for Aaron, and said, "Go, sacrifice to your God in the land."

26 Puis Moïse sortit de chez Pharaon et intercéda auprès de l'Éternel.

Moses said, "It isn't appropriate to do so; for we shall sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians to Jehovah our God. Look, shall we sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, and won't they stone us?

27 Et l'Éternel fit comme Moïse avait dit, et les moucherons se retirèrent loin de Pharaon, de ses serviteurs et de son peuple; il n'en resta pas un.

We will go three days' journey into the wilderness, and sacrifice to Jehovah our God, as he shall command us."

28 Mais Pharaon endurcit son cœur cette fois-ci encore, et ne laissa point partir le peuple.

Pharaoh said, "I will let you go, that you may sacrifice to Jehovah your God in the wilderness, only you shall not go very far away. Pray for me."

29 Et Moïse lui dit: Quand je retournerai à la ville, j'élèverai mes mains vers l'Éternel; les tonnerres cesseront, et il n'y aura plus de grêle, afin que tu reconnaisses que la terre est à l'Éternel.

Moses said, "Look, I go out from you, and I will pray to God that the swarms of flies may depart from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people, tomorrow; only do not let Pharaoh deal deceitfully any more in not letting the people go to sacrifice to Jehovah."

30 Mais ni toi ni tes serviteurs, je le sais, n'aurez encore crainte de l'Éternel Dieu.

Moses went out from Pharaoh, and prayed to God.

31 (Or le lin et l'orge furent frappés, car l'orge était en épis, et le lin en fleur.

Jehovah did according to the word of Moses, and he removed the swarms of flies from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people. There remained not one.

32 Mais le froment et l'épeautre ne furent point frappés, car ils sont tardifs.)

Pharaoh hardened his heart this time also, and he did not let the people go.
