Hébreux 8

1 Voici maintenant, après tout ce que nous venons de dire, le point capital: Ce grand-prêtre que nous avons est tel qu'«il s'est assis à la droite!» du trône de la majesté divine, dans les cieux,

Now of the things which we have spoken, this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of majesty in the heavens,

2 comme ministre du sanctuaire et du vrai «tabernacle, dressé par le Seigneur» et non par un homme.

A minister of the holies, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord hath pitched, and not man.

3 Tout grand-prêtre est institué pour offrir des dons et des sacrifices; il faut donc que celui-là ait aussi quelque chose à offrir.

For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is necessary that he also should have some thing to offer.

4 S'il était sur la terre, il ne serait pas même prêtre — (puisqu'il s'y trouve ceux qui offrent les dons selon la Loi

If then he were on earth, he would not be a priest: seeing that there would be others to offer gifts according to the law,

5 et qui servent ce qui n'est que la copie, l'ombre des réalités célestes, d'après l'avis donné à Moïse lorsqu'il allait dresser le tabernacle: Aie soin, lui fut-il dit, de tout faire d'après le modèle qui t'a été montré sur la montagne»),

Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things. As it was answered to Moses, when he was to finish the tabernacle: See (saith he) that thou make all things according to the pattern which was shewn thee on the mount.

6 mais il a maintenant obtenu un ministère d'autant supérieur qu'il est médiateur d'une plus excellente Alliance dont la promulgation repose sur de meilleures promesses.

But now he hath obtained a better ministry, by how much also he is a mediator of a better testament, which is established on better promises.

7 En effet, si la première Alliance avait été irréprochable, il n'aurait pas été question de la remplacer par une seconde.

For if that former had been faultless, there should not indeed a place have been sought for a second.

8 Or c'est bien un reproche qu'il fait quand il dit: «Voici qu'il vient des jours, dit le Seigneur, Où je contracterai avec la maison d'Israël et avec la maison de Juda, Une nouvelle Alliance.

For finding fault with them, he saith: Behold, the days shall come, saith the Lord: and I will perfect unto the house of Israel, and unto the house of Juda, a new testament:

9 Elle ne ressemblera pas à l'Alliance que je fis avec leurs pères Le jour où je les pris par la main Pour les faire sortir du pays d'Égypte; Comme ils ne sont pas restés fidèles à mon Alliance, Moi, de mon côté, je les ai négligés, dit le Seigneur.

Not according to the testament which I made to their fathers, on the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt: because they continued not in my testament: and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.

10 Voici l'Alliance que je contracterai avec la maison d'Israël: Après ces jours-ci Je mettrai mes lois dans leur esprit Et je les graverai dans leur coeur; Je serai leur Dieu Et ils seront mon peuple,

For this is the testament which I will make to the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord: I will give my laws into their mind, and in their heart will I write them: and I will be their God, and they shall be my people:

11 Et aucun d'eux n'aura à instruire son concitoyen, Ou son frère en lui disant: «Sache qui est le Seigneur.» Car tous me connaîtront Depuis le plus petit jusqu'au plus grand

And they shall not teach every man his neighbour and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me from the least to the greatest of them:

12 Aussi serai-je plein de miséricorde pour leurs iniquités Et ne me souviendrai-je plus de leurs péchés.»

Because I will be merciful to their iniquities, and their sins I will remember no more.

13 appelant cette Alliance-là «nouvelle» il a déclaré la première vieillie; or ce qui a vieilli, ce qui est suranné est près de disparaître.

Now in saying a new, he hath made the former old. And that which decayeth and groweth old, is near its end.
