Marc 11
1 Quand ils furent près de Jérusalem, de Béthanie et de Bethphagé, du côté du mont des Oliviers, Jésus envoya deux de ses disciples, en leur disant:
When they had almost reached Jerusalem, as far as Bethphage and Bethany, near the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent on two of his disciples.
2 «Allez à ce village qui est devant vous; et tout de suite, à l'entrée, vous trouverez un ânon attaché, que personne n'a jamais monté. Détachez-le et l'amenez.
“Go to the village facing you,” he said; “and, as soon as you get there, you will find a foal tethered, which no one has ever ridden; untie it, and bring it.
3 Si l'on vous demande pourquoi vous faites cela, répondez: Le Seigneur en a besoin et on l'enverra immédiatement ici.»
And, if any one says to you ‘Why are you doing that?’, say ‘The Master wants it, and will be sure to send it back here at once.’”
4 Ils partirent et, au détour du chemin, ils trouvèrent l'ânon attaché tout contre une porte extérieure; ils le délièrent.
The two disciples went, and, finding a foal tethered outside a door in the street, they untied it.
5 Quelques-uns de ceux qui étaient là leur dirent: «Que faites-vous? Pourquoi détachez-vous cet ânon?»
Some of the by-standers said to them: “What are you doing, untying the foal?”
6 Ils répondirent ce que Jésus leur avait dit; et on les laissa faire. Ils amenèrent donc l'ânon,
And the two disciples answered as Jesus had told them; and they allowed them to go.
7 sur lequel ils placèrent leurs manteaux, à Jésus, qui s'assit sur lui.
Then they brought the foal to Jesus, and, when they had laid their cloaks on it, he seated himself upon it.
8 Sur le chemin, un grand nombre étendirent leurs vêtements et d'autres des rameaux coupés dans les champs.
Many of the people spread their cloaks on the road, while some strewed boughs which they had cut from the fields;
9 Et ceux qui le précédaient et ceux qui le suivaient criaient: «Hosanna! Béni soit celui qui vient au nom du Seigneur!
and those who led the way, as well as those who followed, kept shouting: “‘God save him! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’
10 Béni soit le Règne qui commence, le Règne de notre père David! Hosanna au plus haut des cieux!»
Blessed is the coming Kingdom of our father David! ‘God save him from on high!’”
11 Il entra à Jérusalem et pénétra dans le Temple. Il promena autour de lui son regard sur toutes choses, et comme l'heure s'avançait, il partit avec les douze pour Béthanie.
Jesus entered Jerusalem, and went into the Temple Courts; and, after looking round at everything, as it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve.
12 Le lendemain, comme ils sortaient de Béthanie, il eut faim.
The next day, after they had left Bethany, Jesus became hungry;
13 Apercevant de loin un figuier couvert de feuilles, il y alla pourvoir s'il n'y découvrirait pas quelque fruit; mais quand il s'en fut approché, il n'y trouva que des feuilles. En effet, ce n'était pas encore le moment des figues.
and, noticing a fig-tree at a distance in leaf, he went to it to see if by any chance he could find something on it; but, on coming up to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs.
14 Alors il s'adressa à l'arbre et lui dit: «Que personne ne mange désormais de ton fruit!» Ce mot fut entendu des disciples. (aiōn g165)
So, addressing the tree, he exclaimed: “May no man ever again eat of your fruit!” And his disciples heard what he said. (aiōn g165)
15 Quand ils furent arrivés à Jérusalem, Jésus entra dans le Temple et se mit à chasser les vendeurs et les acheteurs; il renversa les tables des changeurs, ainsi que les sièges des marchands de colombes;
They came to Jerusalem. Jesus went into the Temple Courts, and began to drive out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money-changers, and the seats of the pigeon-dealers,
16 de plus, il ne laissait personne, portant un objet quelconque, passer par le Temple.
and would not allow any one to carry anything across the Temple Courts.
17 Et voici ce qu'il enseignait: «N'est-il pas écrit: «Ma maison s'appellera, pour tous les peuples, maison de prière? Et vous, vous en avez fait une caverne de brigands!»
Then he began to teach. “Does not Scripture say,” he asked, “‘My House shall be called a House of Prayer for all the nations’? But you have made it a den of robbers.’”
18 En l'entendant, les chefs des prêtres et les Scribes cherchaient par quels moyens ils le feraient périr. En effet, ils avaient peur de lui à cause du peuple, qui, tout entier, était extrêmement frappé de son enseignement.
Now the Chief Priests and the Teachers of the Law heard this and began to look for some way of putting Jesus to death; for they were afraid of him, since all the people were greatly impressed by his teaching.
19 Quand venait le soir, ils sortaient de la ville;
As soon as evening fell, Jesus and his disciples went out of the city.
20 or, en repassant le matin, ils virent le figuier desséché jusqu'à la racine.
As they passed by early in the morning, they noticed that the fig-tree was withered up from the very roots.
21 Se souvenant de ce qui s'était passé, Pierre dit à Jésus: «Rabbi, voici le figuier que tu as maudit; il s'est desséché.»
Then Peter recollected what had occurred. “Look, Rabbi,” he exclaimed, “the fig-tree which you doomed is withered up!”
22 Jésus alors, s'adressant à tous, leur dit: «Ayez foi en Dieu!
“Have faith in God!” replied Jesus.
23 En vérité, je vous le dis: Si quelqu’un dit à cette montagne, sans aucune hésitation dans son coeur, et en croyant à l'accomplissement de sa parole: «Soulève-toi, et jette-toi dans la mer», cela lui sera accordé.
“I tell you that if any one should say to this hill ‘Be lifted up and hurled into the sea!’, without ever a doubt in his mind, but in the faith that what he says will be done, he would find that it would be.
24 C'est pourquoi je vous dis: Croyez que vous recevrez tout ce que vous demandez dans votre prière, et tout vous sera accordé.
And therefore I say to you ‘Have faith that whatever you ask for in prayer is already granted you, and you will find that it will be.’
25 En outre, quand vous vous mettez à prier, pardonnez à toute personne contre qui vous pourriez avoir quelque chose, afin que votre Père qui est dans les cieux vous pardonne aussi vos offenses.»
‘And, whenever you stand up to pray, forgive any grievance that you have against any one, that your Father who is in Heaven also may forgive you your offences.”
26 (Si vous ne pardonnez pas, votre Père qui est dans les cieux ne vous pardonnera pas non plus vos offenses).
27 Ils étaient retournés à Jérusalem; et comme il allait et venait dans le Temple, les chefs des prêtres, les Scribes et les Anciens s'approchèrent de lui
They came to Jerusalem again. While Jesus was walking about in the Temple Courts, the Chief Priests, the Teachers of the Law, and the Councillors came up to him.
28 et lui dirent: «En vertu de quelle autorité fais-tu ces choses? ou qui t'a donné l'autorité de les faire?»
“What authority have you to do these things?” they said. “Who gave you the authority to do them?”
29 Jésus leur répondit: «Je vous ferai, moi aussi, une question, une seule. Répondez-moi et je vous dirai en vertu de quelle autorité je fais ces choses:
“I will put one question to you,” said Jesus. “Answer me that, and then I will tell you what authority I have to act as I do.
30 Le baptême de Jean venait-il du ciel ou des hommes? Répondez-moi.»
It is about John’s baptism. Was it of divine or human origin? Answer me that.”
31 Or ils faisaient, à part eux, ce raisonnement: «Si nous répondons: Du ciel, il dira: Pourquoi donc ne l'avez vous pas cru?
They began arguing together; “If we say ‘divine,’ he will say ‘Why then did not you believe him?’
32 Répondrons-nous alors: Des hommes?....» Ici ils avaient à craindre la foule; car tout le monde tenait Jean pour un prophète.
Yet can we say ‘human’?” — They were afraid of the people, for everyone regarded John as undoubtedly a Prophet.
33 Alors ils répondirent ainsi à Jésus: «Nous ne savons.» Jésus répliqua: «Je ne vous dis pas, moi non plus, en vertu de quelle autorité je fais ces choses.»
So their answer to Jesus was — “We do not know.” “Then I,” replied Jesus, “refuse to tell you what authority I have to do these things.”
